- Template:Reece Mastin (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
An artist template is not necessary when you have very limited product and have only been notable for 24 hours. WWGB (talk) 11:23, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- Support; any articles about Reece Mastin, for the time being at least, won't be hard to navigate through. I'm not sure if this is synthesis or not, but Tal Bachman (who is known for one song particularly) doesn't have a template. I see no need for the template until there's enough content to warrant one (Paramore, for instance, has a few studio albums and tours along with band members and such that benefit from a template). - Template:WikiAfrica/NABA (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
This appears to be a method of adding advertisements for a Milan art school to Wikipedia. I believe it should be deleted forthwith, and the other good-faith contributions of the group of editors responsible examined for other possible infractions of Wikipedia principles. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 00:46, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- This template is not promotional. It is used on talk pages only, as a part of the larger international project called Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Share Your Knowledge inside WikiAfrica related to GLAM. Every institution that joined the project has a similar template (standardized). The template has the essential scope to monitorize the contributions from the Istitutions (tagging new or expanded articles). This evaluation is lead by academic researchers of University of Milan, Italy. So the template is a part of a scientific research. You may find more infos on Wikipedia:WikiAfrica/Share Your Knowledge and the evaluation process is explained in it:Progetto:WikiAfrica/Share Your Knowledge/Valutazione (I'm sorry but we are already translating the pages and not all of them are available in english). --Marcok (talk) 10:41, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, Marco. I have no difficulty in reading Italian, and have looked at some of the Italian pages. They increase rather than allay my concerns. What is Wikipedia:WikiAfrica? Where and when was editor consensus reached for the promotion of this project within Wikipedia, or for the placement of "monitoring" templates, or indeed for any edit to be made here to promote "scientific" research by some academics in Milan? It looks like just another advert. I have posted a question at the "project" talkpage also. And where and when was consensus reached to permit massive advertising of Fondazione Cariplo in this wiki? Crucially, have you read WP:SOAP, which I believe is highly relevant here? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:17, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Dear Justlettersandnumbers, the CC BY-SA license requires source citation. Wikipedia is using documentation from those institutions so we need to document the source. The source needs to be cited within the article and the authorization and the OTRS ticket needs to be documented in the discussion page. Our initiative is part of the GLAM project, which is receiving a strong consensus from Wikipedia users all over the world (please refer also to the GLAM newsletter with reports from the US, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, India, Brazil...). I completely agree with you that it is important to avoid advertisement. The guidelines – which we are carefully respecting – are here. We are also taking into great account the OTRS procedures which are essential for the partnerships with institutions and to avoid copyright violations. --Iopensa (talk) 09:40, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
