[edit]

What is the common food or dish in the a) Anglophone Caribbean, b) West Africa, c) Central Africa, d) East Africa, e) Southern Africa and f) Central Asia? Like how Empanada is a common food in the Latin America and Philippines, Samosa is a common food in South Asia, Kebab is a common food in Arab World, Iran, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan and Turkey. Wikipedia has articles titled "cuisine of XXXX" for various countries and regions. I would recommend starting at the category titled Category:Cuisine by region or Category:Cuisine by country and using that as your basis. For example, Caribbean cuisine would be a great starting point for a) on your list, while West African cuisine would be a great starting point for b) on your list. --Jayron32 16:37, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In South Africa we often eat pap which is a stodgy wheat based porridge. I can't stand it myself and was often seen as a native dish but due to the complexities of apartheid, was often fed by domestic workers to European children and is now a staple eaten by all in our rainbow nation.

(ec) As per the article, sadza is usually made from maize and is very common in many countries in Africa. Gruel is made from wheat. 41.165.67.114 (talk) 06:25, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Chal, kuurdak and varieties of kashk are found throughout Central Asia. Lavash is also quite common.  --Lambiam 13:39, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Add manti and plov to the list of common Central Asian foods. Xuxl (talk) 13:57, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And of course yoghurt. Although used through much of the world, it is particularly common there.  --Lambiam 10:36, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
