Adding to an existing article

[edit]

A friend of mine's daughter has just released a single and it is a cover of a song and would like to include it in the history of that specific song as it is a pop classic. What am I allowed to include and not include. Just trying to help her daughter with her contribution to the world of music. What do I need to include to ensure it is verifiable. http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=I_Think_We%27re_Alone_Now&action=edit — Preceding unsigned comment added by RichFtl (talkcontribs) 05:15, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You need, at minimum two things 1) A citation to a reliable source to verify the recording both exists and is worth mentioning (that is, do OTHER well-respected publications have writing about the song your friend recorded? Did Rolling Stone Magazine review it? That sort of thing) and 2) Consensus among other Wikipedia editors that the recording is significant enough to bear mentioning. It is most important to note that the baseline for Wikipedia is NOT that something exists, but that there is in-depth, reliable writing about it elsewhere, so we know that the world at large finds it significant enough to have written material about it. --Jayron32 12:03, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that info, I may be premature at this point but at least I know what I need to pay attention to in order to make sure I can accomplish this. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by RichFtl (talkcontribs) 20 September 2018, 14:05 (UTC)

Ref number 87 is in red - it is from the UK Times. Please help if yo can. ThanksSrbernadette (talk) 07:38, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. @Srbernadette:. –Ammarpad (talk) 07:55, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What was there about Help:CS1_errors#citation missing title that you failed to understand? How the hell many more times do you need to be told that when an error message in red has the word "help" in blue that means that the word help is a wikilink to specific help on your error? We have kept on asking you, if you don't understand English what language should we use when talking to you? --David Biddulph (talk) 08:00, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Srbernadette, once again, as has been told to you innumerable times, when you deliberately create an error in any article, as you did with this edit this time, and if you cannot read the simple English notification given in the error message, then please undo your edits before approaching the Help desk. Otherwise, this is simply continuing with your disruptive behaviour. Lourdes 08:11, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

PRotected talk pages

[edit]

How exactly are you suposed to get to the talk page of a talk page? See: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Talk:Autism — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.77.233.194 (talk) 11:09, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You have at least four options, two of which are guaranteed to work: You can talk to the protecting admin (Laser brain) to request unprotection, make a request to reduce protection at WP:RFUP, create an account and make a few edits to become auto-confirmed, or make your edit request at WP:RFED. -- zzuuzz (talk) 11:17, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Peer-review on Wikipedia

[edit]

How do I get a draft of an article peer reviewed on Wikipedia before moving to article space? http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Draft:Mooji Sumantra1 (talk) 12:17, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Put {{subst:submit}} at the top of the draft. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:27, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

REGARDING ARBITRATOR

[edit]

WHO IS ARBITRATOR OF ALIMCO — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.85.16.58 (talk) 12:27, 20 September 2018‎

Please do not use ALL CAPS. We regard it as unfriendly shouting. Are you referring to Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India? Wikipedia articles do not have assigned "arbitrators". Article content is created by consensus. If you have an issue with the content of a article, discuss it on the article's talk page to help us improve the content. -Arch dude (talk) 16:44, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That'd be tricky now, as I've deleted the article because it was a straight word-for-word copy of a copyrighted website - and it's been like that for at least 3 years. It was of course, for the same reason, unsourced as well. Black Kite (talk) 17:01, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My browser (Chrome) warns me not to visit ref 5 and 6 in this article, something called hopecorner dot net. Not sure what the drill is. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:28, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is because their website's certificate is invalid - it expired on 13 September. Ruslik_Zero 20:40, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
