Wikipedia:Academy/Mumbai1
The first Wikipedia Academy in Mumbai was held on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Centre for Education & Documentation (CED), 3, Suleman Chambers, Ground Floor, 4, Battery Street, behind Regal Cinema, Colaba.
WikiAcademies are public outreach events aimed at engaging researchers, enthusiasts and subject experts who are not yet familiar with free and open knowledge, and the online wiki community. Using presentations and workshops, experienced Wikipedia authors and editors teach the participants how to contribute to Wikipedia, and orient the audience to Wikipedia’s structures and community policies.
While open to all, this WikiAcademy was aimed at introducing Wikipedia's grassroots practices. Another intention behind holding it was recruiting volunteers for WikiConference India 2011, to be held on 18-20 November in Mumbai.
Pradeep Mohandas was guru. Around The Globeसत्यमेव जयते was deputy. Vikram Crishna played the role of philosopher, explainer and learner.
