Vittoria Paganetti (born 17 June 2006) is an Italian professional tennis player. She has a career-high ITF junior combined ranking of No. 19, achieved on 2 September 2024.

Early life

[edit]

Paganetti was born and raised in Bari.[1] She began playing tennis at the age of five.[2] She trains at the Circolo Tennis Bari under coach Raffaele Gorgoglione.[3][4]

Junior career

[edit]

In January 2024, Paganetti made her Junior Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open, where she reached the second round in singles.[5][6] At the J300 Memorial Eduardo Ferrero in Villena, she reached the semifinals in singles and won the doubles title with compatriot Francesca Gandolfi.[7][8] Later that year, she and partner Emerson Jones reached back-to-back Junior Grand Slam doubles semifinals at the French Open and Wimbledon.[9][10] At the J300 Internationaux de Tennis Junior event in Repentigny, she reached the semifinals in singles and won the doubles title with Noemi Basiletti.

Professional career

[edit]

In September 2022, Paganetti made her WTA 125 debut with a wildcard into the Open delle Puglie, but lost in the first round to Laura Pigossi.[11] She also received a wildcard into the 2023 tournament, but lost in the first round to Carole Monnet.[12] In November 2023, she and partner Gaia Maduzzi were runners-up $25k Archigen Cup in Solarino, losing to Linda Klimovičová and Julie Štruplová in the final.[13][14]

In May 2024, after passing the pre-qualifying tournament,[15] Paganetti made her WTA Tour debut with a wildcard into the main draw of the Italian Open,[16][17] but lost in the first round to compatriot Lucrezia Stefanini.[18][19] She was only the fourth player from Apulia to make the main draw in Rome.[20] In July, she reached the semifinals of the $15k Rimini Cup in Viserba as a junior exempt entry.[21]
