Non-diffusing category
I noticed that you removed a lot of German classical composers from Category:German classical composers with a confusing edit summary, eg at George Frideric Handel. The Category:German male classical composers is a non-diffusing category, so the parent category should stay. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:06, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
- Hey there, Michael Bednarek! Thanks for dropping me a line. Yeah, that edit summary was pretty confusing eh? I missed that but made sure to fix it as soon as I noticed, my apologies and sorry for the confusion. If I am understanding correctly, George Frideric Handel should contain both Category:German classical composers and Category:German male classical composers even though Category:German male classical composers is a subcategory of parent Category:German classical composers? I am seeing the template now which I completely missed because I was only looking at Category:German classical composers and seeing pages in the parent category while seeing Category:German male classical composers and Category:German female classical composers as options to subcategorize in. I came from Category:American golfers which does diffuse into Category:American male golfers and Category:American female golfers. I am seeing the same thing with Category:American cyclists, Category:American boxers, etc.. Can you help me understand why this would be inconsistent? I am happy to fix my changes but I would like to discuss this further first to better understand, especially considering the inconsistency. Appreciate your time and clarity. ~riley (talk) 12:36, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
- I can't help with the inconsistency you pointed out, nor do I know where to discuss this (Wikipedia talk:Categorization maybe?). I've noticed in the past that many gender-based are non-diffusing, and I think there was a discussion about that somewhere, but it's obviously different in different parts of the category tree. I don't care either way (except that I find all those gender-specific categories unnecessary) – I just follow the advice show on the various categories. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:47, 16 December 2019 (UTC)
- @Michael Bednarek: Thanks again for pointing this out, and your prompt response. I am beginning cleanup of this to ensure they are non-diffusing categories as you have pointed out. ~riley (talk) 21:14, 16 December 2019 (UTC)

Page mover granted
Hello, ~riley. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Speedy deletion contested: David Koehn (poet)
Hello ~riley. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of David Koehn (poet), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Being a "poet, university professor and technology entrepreneur" is a credible claim of significance, therefore A7 does not apply. Thank you. MrClog (talk) 09:16, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- @MrClog: The page has been twice deleted under a slightly different name (due it being salted), created by the same author, for A7 and salted, hence my choice of A7. Speedy deletion is appropriate, how would you like to tag it? ~riley (talk) 09:21, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Wikimedia global sysops
A tag has been placed on Category:Wikimedia global sysops requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Request
Hello my friend, I am Mohamed from Tunisia and I contribute to Wikipedia. Three years ago, on July 24, 2017, I was banned from the Wikimedia Commons project because I did not respect copyright policy, and this was due to my lack of experience.
But now after these years I've gained enough experience that my need to work on the Wikimedia Commons project is necessary, so I ask you to lift the ban and hope you will take my request into account.
Nice to talk to you my friend and hope you answer me, my best regards and Merry Christmas محمد أمين الطرابلسي (talk) 21:28, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

Help
Hello, I am Mohamed from Tunisia. In fact, I wanted to seek help with a case concerning me on Wikimedia Commons. Three years ago I was completely banned from contributing to Wikimedia Commons, Because I uploaded non-free files and violated the copyright. In fact, this was due to my lack of experience, especially as I was a new shareholder at the time. So, I ask you to take my case into consideration and help me lift the ban, Because the administrator who banned me is not responding with me, and he was also prevented. Thank you so much. محمد أمين الطرابلسي (talk) 10:00, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
