Lists in articles

[edit]

Hi Zeinanyc! I reverted your edit on eggnog to restore the prose version of the article. The established consensus is that information should be synthesized as prose whenever possible and to avoid listing information (see a summary of list dos and don'ts). Just letting you know! Malinaccier (talk) 01:31, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Prose flow

[edit]

Hi Zeinanyc. Your edits on the Album article, which changed the lead from this to this have been reverted. I assume you were intending to make the text more readable, however creating so many short paragraphs inhibits flow and readability, and so results in the opposite of what you intended. See WP:USEPROSE, MOS:PARA, and Wikipedia:Writing better articles. If you have any questions, please ask! SilkTork (talk) 09:07, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Take part in a survey

[edit]

Hi Zeinanyc

We're working to measure the value of Wikipedia in economic terms. We want to ask you some questions about how you value being able to edit Wikipedia.

Our survey should take about 10-15 minutes of your time. We hope that you will enjoy it and find the questions interesting. All answers will be kept strictly confidential and will be anonymized before the aggregate results are published. Regretfully, we can only accept responses from people who live in the US due to restrictions in our grant-based funding.

As a reward for your participation, we will randomly pick 1 out of every 5 participants and give them $25 worth of goods of their choice from the Wikipedia store (e.g. Wikipedia themed t-shirts). Note that we can only reward you if you are based in the US.

Click here to access the survey: http://ucla.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bI9nxWdVDoNZZKR

Thanks

Please preview, consolidate, and summarize

[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your efforts on Wikipedia. Below are a few editing suggestions to make it easier for you and others to collaborate on the encyclopedia. Please preview, consolidate, and summarize your edits:

  • Try to consolidate your edits, at least at the section level, to avoid cluttering the page's edit history; this makes it easier for your fellow editors to understand your intentions, and makes it easier for those monitoring activity on the article.
    • The show preview button (beside the "publish changes" button) is helpful for this; use it to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits.
  • Please remember to explain each edit with an edit summary (box above the "publish changes" button).

Thanks in advance for considering these suggestions. Eric talk 22:49, 24 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Line breaks on multiple pages

[edit]

Hi @Zeinanyc, I noticed some of your recent edits to multiple pages. You add line breaks after every sentence. This only makes the text less readable, and disregards the semantic function the grouping of the sentences into paragraphs has. Please refrain from adding unnecessary line breaks in the future. Kardoen (talk) 11:08, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pilcrow and ancient Greek

[edit]

Thank you for your edit to Pilcrow. You may notice that I 'improved' on your edit by using the correct templates (it was wrong before you started). It now reads The word 'pilcrow' originates from the Ancient Greek: παράγραφος (parágraphos),, produced with: The word 'pilcrow' originates from the {{lang-grc|παράγραφος}} ({{transl|grc|parágraphos}}),

No doubt you will find many more of these in need of correction so you might want to read up on the templates {{lang}} and {{transl}}, plus the relevant MOS article MOS:FOREIGNITALIC. The code for ancient Greek is grc, for modern Greek is el. The documentation at {{lang}} includes a pointer to the ISO language codes if you really want to bury yourself in this stuff. Have fun! --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 19:38, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

E. ferox

[edit]

Re your edit to Euryale ferox: the specific name is ferox (fierce), not forax. I'm rather curious as to what's so fierce about it! Marnanel (talk) 15:26, 1 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
