Your warning of "IM AWESOME 69"
[edit]Hey, I just thought I should let you know that I edited your warning slightly to include the vandalised article and the subst: tag.
In future consider using {{subst:warntype|article}} :) -Painezor 05:34, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Ah, alright. Thanks --Zapvet 05:35, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
You're very welcome
[edit]No problem! I'm glad that you're finding God-mode light useful... I definitely do. Happy editing. GracenotesT § 02:15, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Just letting you know
[edit]The "rvv" that I did to Scott Bigelow was a revert to a previous version, as I found that the one you reverted it to missed a few words. As I did not know that you had already edited it, I did not include a description of the names of the editors. I did not mean to suggest that you committed vandalism. Just heading off any possible complaints. JONJONAUG 02:13, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
No problem at all. You were just cleaning up the article. I didn't read that entire paragraph, so I'm glad you caught that mistake. I just saw some obvious vandalism and reverted it. No complaints at all. --Zapvet 02:17, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Pia Haraldsen

Thanks with vandal
[edit]The whole 'galo' thing. Thanks. Geez vandals, who gets them? Thanks again. --Xiahou 00:09, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
History of silk
[edit]I was just looking at the article and I noticed that some of your translations are a little bit sloppy, and some of your prose doesn't sound normal in English. Although it's good that you've translated so much, at the end, just give it a little read through to make sure it sounds normal in English. (I see by your Babel that you're a native anglophone, so this shouldn't be too hard.)
Also, try to make sure that what you've translated actually makes sense (e.g.: the Romans re-exporting silk to Parthia when it has to travel through Parthia to get to Rome, (que leur revendent les Parthes means "who the Parthians re-sold the silk to")). I'm also going to start translating this page when I have time, so let's try to avoid stepping on each others' toes. --Oreo Priest 20:00, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- I just got a message from this guy, [1], one of the authors of the French article. He'll probably be helpful if you have questions. -Oreo Priest 17:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Another thing: try to keep the original French citations. Don't forget to add {{fr}} to note that they are in French. -Oreo Priest 18:40, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- So I think it's pretty much done. We still need to add references, and my friend is giving it a coypyedit. What we need to do to ensure anyone sees the article is add links to our page in a bunch of other pages (right now it's nearly orphaned), probably following the French article's example: [2]. Soon, I'd like to nominate it for GA, so we'll need to watch the nomination carefully. -Oreo Priest 16:14, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

I've nominated history of silk for GA status, and it's almost there. I'd appreciate it if you could help with the suggestions made by the reviewer at Talk:History of silk. Let's do it! -Oreo Priest 19:13, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Anno Mundi, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. Groupthink (talk) 01:30, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in Anno Mundi, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Groupthink (talk) 01:30, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
- Wrong on both counts. Regarding point one, see User_talk:Mamalujo#Anno_Mundi. As for point two, changing a dating system is not a formatting fix, spelling correction, or any other type of minor change. Groupthink (talk) 12:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Cactions tool
[edit]Zapvet, just to inform you, I've released a long-overdue upgrade to the cactions tool, which you should be able to see already (Ctrl-F5 if not). The tool should still work just as before, although you will need to update your JS to the new configuration system to keep the original tabs functionality; see User:Haza-w/Caction tool for the documentation. If you find any bugs or have any queries or feature requests, please get in touch. Thanks, and enjoy! haz (talk) 20:28, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Silk Industry and Canary Grass
[edit]Hello Zapvet
I am trying to establish why an island area of Derby UK is names "Canary Island". Derby's most noted current historian, whose knowledge always seems boundless, has written this month that this question has always baffled him. I note at http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Canary_grass that the flour from Canary Grass or Canarygrass seed was used in the fine cotton and silk industries. Not only is this Canary Island opposite the old Derby Silk Mill, http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Derby_Industrial_Museum but it is on the River Derwent just south of the mills http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Derwent_Valley_Mills that were the birth place of the modern factory mills in the 18th century. So you will see my logic for wondering whether, for example, Canary Grass was once milled here, and therby gave rise to the name "Canary Island"
Do you have any thoughts on this? Did you ever hear of the use of Canary Flour? My email is aspdin@gmail.com
Regards

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
