Possible issue

I've been editting very sparse the last month and an IP has been continuing to follow me Article to Article ever since an MOS issue months ago over a comma placement that another user agreed with me that the MOS was wrong.Im starting to feel like they are stalking me, you can see by their edits Every time I edit a Wrestling Article like this and this they pop up again. They only edit wrestling articles right after I do. Pretty positive they are following me article to article. Chris "WarMachineWildThing" Talk to me 01:24, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Also edits like this one, then this one, then this one, and this one where they target me in their summaries which shows they are stalking/following me. Chris "WarMachineWildThing" Talk to me 01:32, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
The behavioral guideline in play here is WP:POINT. This is pretty much exactly what POINT desribes. The question is, is this something that's raised to the level of disruption? Are the edits, in your opinion, beneficial to Wikipedia or are they just silly? As the better person, are you able to just grin and think quietly to yourself, "okay fine, weird person, you have too much time on your hands", or has it become annoying? That's not a leading question. The intent appears to be to annoy you, but sometimes it's more satisfying to just ignore the situation and let them eventually give up out of boredom. If you think it's just disruptive, consider a report to WP:AIV. --Yamla (talk) 12:08, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Yamla - Ben again from UberEATS. I have one more question regarding the image/logo on the UberEATS wikipedia listing: Can we upload the logo to Flickr, set the copyright setting as Attribution-ShareAlike, then upload our new logo to the Wikipedia page? Just want to be sure we're going about things the proper way here; really appreciate your helpful guidance.

Cheers, Ben — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benzeeful (talkcontribs) 22:13, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

@Benzeeful:, the CC BY-SA 2.0, what Flickr refers to as "attribution-sharealike", is fine. As is version 4.0 of that license. Note that you must not restrict commercial use (because, for example, Wikipedia content must be free to be packaged up and sold, if someone wishes to do so) and you must not restrict derivative works. I'd be happy to take a look at a specific uploaded image to double-check the license, if you wish. --Yamla (talk) 23:57, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

Just uploaded the image here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/149501868@N02/35468426195/ and would greatly appreciate you taking a look before we upload to the wikipedia page. Thanks again for all your help. Benzeeful (talk) 16:47, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

That image is licensed appropriately. Furthermore, it's uploaded by a person who does indeed appear to work at the company, and therefore able to license it as it was. I'm deliberately avoiding WP:OUTING here but you can safely assume I drew the obvious conclusion. You are welcome to upload that image to Wikipedia and point to the flickr page as the source, picking the appropriate license (CC-BY-SA 2.0). Happy to review or indeed, to perform the upload myself if you wish. One warning before proceeding further; that image can be used by anyone for commercial purposes. That is, the license specifically permits that. I am not a lawyer, but I don't believe you care; trademarks and such like would still apply. Happy to elaborate, but again, I'm pretty sure you don't care (but I'm not a lawyer). --Yamla (talk) 17:01, 22 June 2017 (UTC)

I'd be very grateful if you can help upload the new logo (my account isn't authorized to upload images). Thanks for all your help walking me through the proper process for this. (Benzeeful (talk) 01:04, 23 June 2017 (UTC))

Done! --Yamla (talk) 13:09, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Image

Hi Yamla, I originally asked RHaworth to delete The door titles.jpg so that I could reupload it however it went ignored and instead you deleted it - So would you object if I reupload it ?, I wasn't sure if there would be any objections to me reuploading so thought I'd ask, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:19, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

My basis for deleting that file is that it was uploaded by a block-evading sockpuppet. As you are clearly not, I have no objection if you upload a replacement. I want to be clear, I have no objection if you upload a different file to serve the same purpose, but I also have no objection if you upload the same file. My objection to it was solely the block evasion. Thanks very much for checking with me, though! That'll make it easy to figure out what happens when I see that image recreated. :) --Yamla (talk) 19:43, 4 July 2017 (UTC)
Ah I did figure that but thought it was best I checked with you first :), All for I know you could've deleted saying "Was originally uploaded by a sock" which now I say it out loud sounds stupid but guess I just wanted to be safe then sorry that was all :), Anyway no worries :), Thanks again, Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 19:52, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

JustofiedT147AG

Hi Yamla. Can I just ask, when you block JustofiedT147AG and put a notice on their talk page, even though it may not make much difference, can you please ask them to stop evading their block with IPs or accounts as it's just exacerbating the original problem? I encouraged them to find another hobby besides Wikipedia—they have said they contribute to the site Genius, so perhaps that is a better fit and an ideal replacement for them. Ss112 08:50, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Done. --Yamla (talk) 12:13, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
Also, just noticed they edited under Justofied (talk · contribs), and uploaded this cover art, as they also linked to this image on their user page. Ss112 13:12, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
@Ss112: It appears that the file is a non-free artwork, as they stated themselves in the file description. I've already tagged it for deletion on Commons. Hayman30 (talk) 15:12, 2 July 2017 (UTC)
Yamla, would it be possible at all to prevent Justofied from editing their own talk page? I get the feeling they'll keep trying to tag you or I or any admin they can, lodge another unblock request, use another IP, and keep up the innocent act for as long as they can. Clearing the misunderstanding

Hi,

Season's greeting,

One of the user User:संदेश हिवाळे (English spelling of the name:Sandesh Hiwale)'s User account is blocked here on en:wp. It seems he was mainly blocked for 'constantly adding honorifics', not knowing that he is on encyclopaedia, and being new not aware of the policies, in initial enthusiasm he seems to have got involved in reverts to put those honorifics back. His initials edits were mainly through mobile phone and with initial enthusiasm he did not know importance of talk page messages and either over looked or missed.

Besides during his unblock request, even when he was saying 'sorry' by mistake he seems to have tampered a template placed by you, and that seems to have angered you. He has approached me and another local admin on Marathi language wikipedia to inform you of misunderstanding.

He has informed us on our talk page at mr wikipedia that he has understood his mistakes and does not want to repeat them.

Our experince with him on Marathi language wikipedia has been that he is very much a well intentioned user. Even at mr-wikipedia initially he took time to come for discussions on talk pages since he used to edit from mobile phone. But subsequently over a period of time, he started interacting with the local community in constructive manner. And so far all of his communications have been polite enough, and undersigned can vouch for the same.

So even before making any further attempt for unblock request we regret the inconvinience caused before. I am sure in future he can be mentored for constructive edits. Probably what we can do is, for few more months let him write his most of proposed edits on respctive talk pages first and only after if there is no objection on article talk page or after discussing with some mentor let him include those edits in the articles.

His en wp talk page is also marked for Wikipedia:Standard offer by another admin. It seems his last edits were in april month. We would like to know when again he can make an unblock request.

Thanks and warm regards

Mahitgar (talk) 12:49, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Note that user still has access to his or her talk page, unless I'm very much mistaken. I warned the user not to blank unblock declines and the user did indeed stop blanking unblock declines, so there was no reason to revoke talk page access. I am not the blocking admin and I did not indicate the standard offer, but the general rule is six months from the last edit. If that user has not engaged in block evasion (I cannot determine this), they would be eligible under the standard offer immediately. They would need to convince an admin that they would not repeat the behaviour that lead to the block.
To further clarify, it's six months from the last edits apart from the user's talk page. An unblock request, such as the one made in April, does not "reset the timer". However, block evasion does. I have no idea if this user engaged in block evasion and no reason to suspect it. --Yamla (talk) 00:42, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Article moves

Hi Yamla, Hope all is well, Sorry to bother you but when you have a spare 5 mins could you move Mark Fischbach back to Markiplier, Seán McLoughlin (YouTuber) back to Jacksepticeye and Evan Fong back to VanossGaming, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 00:48, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Vortex2345

Hello, Yamla. SORRY if the syntax of my writing on this talk page is a little awkward, as I am writing this from my IPad. You declined my request for an unblock for Vortex2345 because I did not make my request from that account. The reason why I made my request from the IP address was because that account is indefinitely blocked. I am unable to even edit my own talk page. I got blocked due to sock puppetry and did not get a chance to post an unblock request from that account due to my inability to access my own talk page. I request that you please consider unblocking that account as it is very important. You can keep the other, sock puppet accounts permanently blocked, but please unblock Vortex2345. It is very important to me. My edits made from that account have always been constructive, which you can see for yourself. Please, this is my earnest request. Again, I apologize for the incorrect syntax of writing as my computer is broken and my IPad is all I have. Also, as I am not a native speaker of English, my English may be bad. Please consider my request.

Again, we will not consider proxy unblock requests for Vortex2345. Your only option is WP:UTRS. Each instance of block evasion, like this, makes it increasingly less likely you will be unblocked. --Yamla (talk) 10:52, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

Sox of your blox

I've noticed that a particular user appears to have sprung, fully formed, from the sea-foam just after you blocked another user; do you recommend anyone in particular to do a check on them? Anmccaff (talk) 19:48, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Not off the top of my head. May be possible to block under WP:DUCK, though. --Yamla (talk) 19:50, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
Dunno if it is fully quacking; it'd really need some technical checking. Anmccaff (talk) 19:52, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Levdr1lp

Tell me if I'm right or wrong, but I'm getting the feeling Levdr1lp is just hassling me over every edit I make, seeing if it can be considered a "reversion" and throwing my 0RR restriction in my face. wouldn't that be WP:harrassment?

It really does feel as though he is just hounding me for the sake of hounding me.

This is the same guy who put 2 SPIs on me (both times I was proven innocent)

Vjmlhds (talk) 01:19, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello Yamla- I stand by my actions, including the decision to open two separate SPI cases more than two years apart. Cyphoidbomb might fill you in on some of the other history between myself & Vjmlhds, like when he -- and I'm quoting here -- threatened to "bury a hatchet" in my skull. All I've done here is: a) undo a revert this user performed at the Donald Trump, Jr., article; and, b) undo an edit to the Cleveland Cavaliers article. The second actually stems from Vjmlhds' proxy-editing that led to his reset/extended block. Levdr1lp / talk 02:37, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
@Vjmlhds:, as satisfying as it might feel in the moment, if I were you, I'd focus on demonstrating a long-term commitment to the community expectations we've been struggling to get you to adhere to, before throwing shade on another editor. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:40, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Cyphoidbomb Why am I always the bad guy? Levdr1lp has had a years long obsession with me...where I go, he's right on my tail. It's like his biggest purpose in life is to make me miserable and cause me to lose my temper. This "gotcha" stuff has got to stop. Get him off my back...no one died and made him my keeper. Vjmlhds (talk) 03:49, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
@Vjmlhds: Nobody's saying you're the bad anything, only that your focus should be on your own behavior. When you draw negative attention to yourself over a long span of time, you should probably expect prolonged scrutiny. If the scrutiny is uncomfortable, that should be a good motivator to change your editing style. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:00, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Cyphoidbomb Why doesn't Levdr1lp change his condescending, harassing, holier than thou behavior towards me? He is not better than me, and he has no right to act like he is the end-all and be-all...I do not have to succumb to his every whim. Just because he says something, it doesn't make it gospel. He needs to know how to back off and leave me alone. Vjmlhds (talk) 04:08, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
@Vjmlhds: This conversation has devolved into passive-aggressive complaint. I've given you my advice and addressed what I think is the best course of action for you, as unsatisfying as my responses might be. You are always free to edit in areas where Levdr1lp doesn't typically go. I edit a lot of Indian film and TV articles not because I'm interested in the subject, (I'm not at all) but because it's off the beaten path and still allows me to contribute. Wikipedia is not a right, and there are no guarantees that you should edit unopposed in areas that you particularly find interesting. Maybe you just need to find your niche. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:27, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Cyphoidbomb You are missing the point...Levdr1lp follows me around. Where ever I go, he goes. He just does this out of pure spite. You (nor anybody else) has the right to judge what's best for me. Me (and only me) knows what's best for me, because I'm the one who has to live with it. What you need to do is get a handle on Levdr, because he is the one who is out of line in his behavior towards me. Vjmlhds (talk) 04:35, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Vjmlhds- I'm not trying to get you to "succumb to [my] every whim." I pointed out that you are bound to follow the editing restrictions imposed on you by the community and arrived at through consensus. I'm sorry if pointing that out bothers you, but doing so in no way changes your situation. And Cyphoidbomb is right- the restrictions are meant to change your editing behavior. Change is uncomfortable. Quite frankly, there are times when you just don't follow the rules. And when someone points out that you're not following the rules, you lash out. Or you blame another editor and try to deflect. Nobody's perfect, but clearly the community has determined that you need to change. Again, I stand by my actions. If Cyphoidbomb or Yamla or another administrator or the community determines I'm doing something wrong, then I'll listen and adjust accordingly. But this is less about me and more about you. Levdr1lp / talk 04:40, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Levdr1lp Is it your place to do so? No. I don't need to change anything. I am just fine the way I am. Who are you to tell me anything? You are not better than me, the "community" is not better than me. It's not anybody's place to tell me what to do. You are not my teacher, my counselor, or in anyway superior than me in any way, so quit acting like you are. Vjmlhds (talk) 04:47, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi Yamla, Could you temporarily restore File:Celebrity Big Brother 2007 (UK) logo.png, File:Content eye.jpg and File:Celebrity Big Brother UK 2 logo.png so I can save the images and the info with it please? - Unfortunately these images are no longer available on the web - The CBB 20 logo I've reuploaded as that's available everywhere but unfortunately the rest aren't, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:35, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

My apologies! I only meant to remove the images uploaded by the block-evading sockpuppeteer. I believe I have restored all content with the exception of that uploaded by the sockpuppeteer. Please yell if I have not. --Yamla (talk) 20:08, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Recent Action on Unblock Request - Need your Input

Hi.

I noticed you recently declined the Unblock Request by Joeymiskulin, and I wondered what you think about the text they put in under the notice declaring that their request was declined:

"I'm trying to remove the hidden text that GUtt01 put up that requests Wikipedians to go to the article's talk page about the infobox layout for the two directors of the movie and there are two words in the end credits! They're the only two hidden comments that I tried to remove but it didn't work! These are disturbing, and rather 'adult' requests and now I have been blocked for trying to get rid of the hidden text because the hidden text won't request me to go to the article's talk page about the infobox layout for the two directors of the movie and there are two words in the end credits! That contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeymiskulin (talk • contribs) 22:59, 4 August 2017 (UTC)"

As you already stated about the initial part, you were unclear about whether they understood why their actions were inappropriate, but the rest is... odd. First and foremost, this line "These are disturbing, and rather 'adult' requests" - this a direct copy and paste of something I wrote in a message to another user, Oshwah, in regards to something that had been written out within a message about Joeymiskulin, that had been written by a user that had harrassed Oshwah with something that I won't repeat, but which you can check out on the history log of the Talk Page. The next line, "I have been blocked for trying to get rid of the hidden text because the hidden text won't request me to go to the article's talk page about the infobox layout for the two directors of the movie", doesn't make sense, because within the Infobox for the article, The Lego Movie, I wrote HIDDEN TXT in regards to something that had been regularly changed between two formats, an action that had gotten ridiculous and needed discussion and debate on which format should be used. His argument that it "won't request me to go to the article's talk page" is contradicted by the fact that my HIDDEN TXT states, very clearly, "Please see Talk Page before making any changes, as this section is under discussion over constant changes between two formats".

His next line, "...there are two words in the end credits...", refers to HIDDEN TXT in regards to a character's name in the film; I believe someone did that to ensure that people knew that that was how it was denoted in the film's official credits, so whether there is some weight in the following line "That contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability!", I'm not sure. If he had an issue with it, why didn't he just take it to the article's Talk Page, and see if Wikipedians could confirm that to be the case and provide proper citations, rather than remove it before it could be confirmed? Because if no-one could confirm, he could have been justified in removing that piece of HIDDEN TXT.

Anyway... Your thoughts on this would be most appreciated, so please respond when you are free to do so. Thanks. :-) GUtt01 (talk) 12:58, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much!

I thank you very much for lifting block from my account. Thank You! Sinner (talk) 00:32, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

Yo, can you salt the page you just deleted? It's part of a long list of pages created by Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Shiwam_Kumar_Sriwastaw with Shiwam_Kumar_Sriwastaw being the "created repetitively" example. Additionally he's just also created Shivam Kumar Shriwastava and I think that is why he had the unblock template on his mainpage; for his 28 other blocked sockpuppet accounts. — IVORK Discuss 14:10, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Done. I've also sent an email to emergency@ in re to the suicide bit although this doesn't seem to qualify as a direct suicide threat per se. This is an odd time, just a couple of days back a paid farm sent an appeal via UTRS saying that I asked for money via email to unblock them, I'd forwarded a note on that to Arbcom, you may want to do the same here, just so that people in the know can keep watch on the situation to avoid any trouble. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 14:39, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

One question

How can I protect an airline's pages against editing? Mahan Air destinations page is constantly editing and changing. You protect several pages against editing, Please protect this page too. Thanks. Nima (talk) 13:15, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

You can make a request at WP:RFPP. That also explains the criteria for protection. --Yamla (talk) 12:29, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

HughD stocks have returned to the Ford Pinto article.

Just an FYI. HughD continues to try to disrupt the article and talk page. The article was semi protected but Hugh is now trying to work via the talk page. Today we have a proxy site posting a RFC that is nearly identical to this one by Hugh. 6 Thanks Springee (talk) 21:18, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Life West Chiropractic College

http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Life_Chiropractic_College_West&action=edit&redlink=1

Interested in making this a real article. My past article creation statistics are pretty strong. I disagree with the AfD as it was in 2015 because the deletes were claiming Life West is not accredited whereas I've found information stating it's been accredited since the 80's. [7]. It says to ask the user who deleted the page before making a new page with the same content, so here I am! SEMMENDINGER (talk) 23:05, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

The national accrediting agency grants accreditation to Life West [8], as does the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners [9]. That's the main governing body of the profession plus a state governing body. Both of which give accreditation to Southern California University of Health Sciences if that helps! SEMMENDINGER (talk) 23:18, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Note that I am not the original deleting admin. That would be RoySmith (talk · contribs), who deleted the article on 2015-07-20 as per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Life Chiropractic College West. During that AfD, I noted that the article was originally created by an editor with an undisclosed conflict of interest (and was a violation of copyright, to boot). I did re-delete the article on 2015-11-28 when it was recreated inappropriately. I do want to be clear, though, about my position. My position is that the article was deleted appropriately, but that I have no objection to you having it undeleted or, alternatively, starting a new article. I believe you should consult with the original deleting admin, RoySmith, and you are welcome to point him to this discussion. I have no doubt that your intentions are good and I have no doubt that your edits would make the article substantially better than it was during the original deletion discussion. I will warn you to watch out for other editors deliberately or accidentally violating WP:COI and WP:PAID, and to watch out for our requirements under WP:RS. This is a general warning; I'm noting that I saw problems in that regard on that article in the past. I am absolutely not impugning your own skills at editing. --Yamla (talk) 23:40, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the push in the right direction, first time I'm trying to open a deleted page so I didn't know which admin to ask. I also didn't know there was a way to salvage the old material - though if your knowledge is correct I probably wouldn't gain much from clear violations of WP:COI. Appreciate the help. @Lankiveil, DGG, Kraxler, Cirt, JzG, and Necrothesp: That was a couple of years ago. I have no memory of that, but re-reading the AfD, it seems pretty straight-forward. I should clarify my role here. When I close an AfD, I'm basically acting in a clerical role (in the non-religious sense of the word). I don't have any real opinion one way or the other. That being said, the general rule is that when an article has been deleted, there's no reason it can't be recreated if the reasons for deletion are no longer true. In this case, the main objection looks like it was a lack of accreditation. If there are sources showing that it is indeed accredited, then recreating it seems like a reasonable thing to do. But, be aware, if people don't agree that the problems have been resolved, it can be brought back to AfD again. One possible course of action would be to write your new version as a draft, and go through the WP:AfC process. That's not strictly required, but it will get you some informal review which could be useful. -- RoySmith (talk) 23:54, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Sounds good. The above links are from the accrediting bodies themselves, so it has clear accreditation for its D.C. degree. I'm not looking to make it a huge fancy page as I know nothing about the school save for it being the only United States based chiropractic school without a Wikipedia page. But, as is the purpose of Wikipedia, if someone makes it, people will fill in the other details (i.e. History, Notable alumni, etc) over time. I'll wait a few days in case the other users mentioned want to chime in then I'll start a sandbox draft of the page. Thank you both for your help. SEMMENDINGER (talk) 00:01, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Unblock request at User talk:Yaali BizApp Inc

Hi Yamla. It looks as though you declined this user's unblock appeal, but for some reason your response wasn't showing on the live version of the page, only in the edit mode. I couldn't seem to get your reply to show up, so I've replaced it with my own (same reasoning, basically) - just thought I should let you know. All the best, Yunshui  07:44, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Well, that's very weird! Thanks for letting me know. --Yamla (talk) 11:05, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
The user was removing them, changing them from an unblock decline (with reason) to a new unblock request, simply by editing the type of template used. So, user error. :) --Yamla (talk) 11:09, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Renamer

You work on unblocks, often for editors wanting a rename, so have you considered applying for global rename permission at m:Steward requests/Global permissions? A number of en.wiki admins have done it, and it makes the unblock/rename thing a lot easier. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:18, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Oh! Yes! I keep on meaning to apply! I'll try to do so this weekend. Thanks for reminding me! --Yamla (talk) 16:22, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
Give me a ping when you do, and I'll pop over there and offer my support. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 16:24, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Unblock Request

Hey there, and thanks for helping me out with this. It seems I can't submit a ticket since when I try and submit, a different IP comes up saying it is not blocked. Guess I have no choice other than posting here.

According to Wikipedia block message: 52.206.0.0/16 (blocked by 'Slakr') According to WhatIsMyIp: 52.206.255.145

Thanks again. Magitroopa (talk) 23:38, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

That IP address range belongs to Amazon web services (AWS). It could be that you are using some sort of VPN solution; if so, you'll need to disable it (but be aware! doing so may have consequences to your privacy and security). --Yamla (talk) 23:47, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

You beat me to the unblock request... lol. I just extended the duration of the block on this range and revoked talk page access. It's clear with the edits made to that talk page just now that the user is editing only to troll and be disruptive. Cheers :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:02, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, no doubt. Maybe they'll find some other way to entertain themselves, now. :) --Yamla (talk) 10:43, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Invitation to Admin confidence survey

Hello,

Beginning in September 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Anti-harassment tool team will be conducting a survey to gauge how well tools, training, and information exists to assist English Wikipedia administrators in recognizing and mitigating things like sockpuppetry, vandalism, and harassment.

The survey should only take 5 minutes, and your individual response will not be made public. This survey will be integral for our team to determine how to better support administrators.

To take the survey sign up here and we will send you a link to the form.

We really appreciate your input!

Please let us know if you wish to opt-out of all massmessage mailings from the Anti-harassment tools team.

PIA and webhosts

Hi. I googled and found a Reddit discussion where a rep from PIA said they added some Logicweb IP addresses to their rotation. For now if I request a new IP from PIA by disconnecting and connecting it seems to work around the block. I still don't understand why a user who is logged in needs to be blocked at all. Extension of block length for this IP

This is coming from the same person under a different IP address.

The previous block for this IP address (74.88.76.222) has expired, but this IP address (74.88.76.222) still has to stay blocked because the length of the previous block for this IP address (74.88.76.222) seriously should have been extended, and needs to be extended because this IP address (74.88.76.222) has initially made an edit on this talk page that contains death threats before the edit has been undone. 74.88.74.98 (talk) 09:37, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

I can't tell what you are asking, here. --Yamla (talk) 11:20, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
This IP address (74.88.76.222) has previously been blocked for vandalism. The previous block on this IP address (74.88.76.222) has expired, so I am asking you to block this IP address (74.88.76.222) because this IP address (74.88.76.222) has initially made an edit on this talk page that contains death threats before the edit has been undone. 74.88.74.98 (talk) 11:30, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
I'm monitoring that IP address. No edits have been made from it in ten days. The user has moved on to a different address, and is being monitored by the Wikimedia Foundation due to the death threat. I'm not part of the Foundation so don't know what specific steps or monitoring are taking place, nor am I aware of the specific IP address the user is currently using. --Yamla (talk) 11:34, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Remember me?

You falsely blocked me years ago and was one of the administrators that bullied me off of here. Well guess what? I'm back. Get used to it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1003:B458:3D2E:F8D1:2981:F28A:5D5 (talk) 09:18, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Login attempts

Reading your comment at WP:ANI. Reading everyone else's comments, it probably is a malicious user ... but given I managed to lock both myself and another non-existent user out, because I couldn't get my password/user right a few minutes ago, I wouldn't always assume malice. (not sure what happened ... as I was right all along, it was only after 2 fails, that I started trying other things ... root cause is probably I'm using a different keyboard today. Sometimes people's minds are just somewhere else, and use the username for a different website - if it's short and common). Nfitz (talk) 16:49, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I suppose that's a possibility. Particularly as 'yamla' may actually be a name (or a nick-name) in that particular area of the world. --Yamla (talk) 16:54, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Strange message

Yamla, I recently received an anonymous message here 10 suggesting that HughD may have a new user name. I ran an editor interaction 11 which suggests there may be something here. The new editor does have the blitz of edits style that HughD used when going after the Ford Pinto article 12 (rather than using a sandbox to make a several changes at once). The editor's talk page has been started with the blue "+template" blocked HughD IP addresses (13, blocked IP socks 14, 15, 16). The new editor has received two edit related warnings 17, 18.

The area of interest is conservative politics and climate change. Talk page comments read much like HughD arguments 19. The way the argument was formatted here, 20, 21, 22 and here 23 (less than 3 weeks after joining) seem similar to HughD examples like this 24 and 25. The editor is "new" (Aug 18th) yet the first talk page edits are project links (Aug 29th 26) shortly followed by quoting Wiki guidelines (27, 28) and commenting on requests for adminship (Sept 18th 29, Aug 3130). These sorts of edits suggest an editor who has been around for quite some time.

The evidence that this is a HughD sock is reasonably strong. That said, I don't like that an anonymous IP was the one who contacted me about this issue. I think this probably is HughD but I don't like that someone is asking me to do their search work or dirty work. Not sure what to do next. Thanks Springee (talk) 02:13, 17 October 2017 (UTC) Looking at a few other edit styles I strongly suspect this is a new account for HughD. Do you have any suggestions? My thoughts are SPI. Springee (talk) 03:50, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

I have filed an SPI [[A sock puppet investigation that involves this account has been filed here: 31]] Springee (talk) 18:29, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

No record to disruptive editor's changed name

Hi Yamla, hope you are doing well. I saw your name here, so that is why I am here. The community had to put up with the disruptor editor Asilah1981 for 2 and a half years, still he was allowed to change his username and delete his record, in a way that makes it more difficult to trace his disruptive activity and present-day investigation. Is there any way that log can be disclosed for scrutiny in present-day irregular WP activity? Sorry if you are not the person to address. Regards Iñaki LL (talk) 11:26, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
