Contribution to Louis Mink
[edit]Thank you for the recent contribution to the article about Mink. He has provided a quite important contribution to the field of history. However, because Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, we try to operate on the idea of WP:Verifiability: that is any claim made in a Wikipedia article about a topic ought to be attributed to a reliable authority in that field. By citing the Primary source in the Mink article, we can only claim that he made that assertion, not it's relevance to the field. I revised the comment in this change so that it might better reflect our policy. I agree with you, having read the scholarship, that that particular assertion about the truth claim is one of his prominent. However, if we are to make that claim on Wikipedia, we cannot rely on our authority as academics or researches, because as Wikipedia contributors, we are anonymous, thus can't be vetted for authority; thus our reliance on published reliable Secondary Sources.
I took a look at your other contributions, and they appear well done. So keep it up! If you find yourself needing help on Wikipedia, feel free to contact me on my talk page. And, by the way, I left a template above with some useful links that should help get you oriented. Happy editing! Sadads (talk) 01:21, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
