My RfA

Hi, my RfA has been successful. Thanks a lot for your support. :) --soum (0_o) 08:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

RfA

Thank you for the support vote in my recent RfA. Although it wasn't successful I appreciate your vote of confidence. Anyway, I'm continuing on with editing Pacific War-related articles and hopefully you'll see several of them on the FA nominations page in the future. Cla68 23:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for your support on my Request for adminship, which finished successfully, with unanimous support of 40/0/0.

I will do my best to serve Wikipedia and the community. Again thanks.

--Meno25 08:19, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Your edits to Cotswold sheep

Thank you for you comments. I agree. Those two links are already in the article and in retrospect it is a stub. I am trying to expand the article. But, doing so appears to be more difficult then other sheep related articles. --BlindEagletalk~contribs 09:27, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Archive4, thanks for your support in my successful RfA.

As the picture shows, the goddesses have already bestowed my new weapons,
which I hope to use to good effect. If you ever need assistance,
or want to give me feedback on my use of the admin tools,
please leave me a message on my talkpage.

RFA

Thanks, but I will have to decline (for now). I got in a little trouble back in February and admin I trust suggested I wait until around June to try and become an admin. I really appreciate the offer though, and will be happy to accept in late May/early June if you still want to do it at that time. TJ Spyke 01:08, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Question

Quick question about the reason for the deleation of an image from my user page. You mentioned that you removed the image because it has been deleated? That wasn't very clear. Wouldn't the message be deleated because you removed it? Could you elaborate? (RossF18 04:26, 8 April 2007 (UTC))

Favour

Could you please delete a page for me called WWE Big Apple Takedown. The reason is because an article on this books already exists and that is not the books title anyway. The proper page for the book is Big Apple Take Down. Bencey 14:13, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Bencey 23:13, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Potential RfA candidate

I noticed you like nominating promising RfA candidates and there's one I think might have a good shot of passing in a month or so. I've seen Leebo (talk · contribs) around AfDs and he's seemed pretty level headed. Would take a closer look at him? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I just left him a short message (not a nom. offer) to see if he has considered RfA. —dgiestc 03:18, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Who are you calling high strung? :-)

He he he... You know, the sure sign that people are high strung is when you try to cheer everybody up with a silly joke and someone gives you the evil eye. Actually, I first wrote "this shows that the Cabal exists", then decided it would be funnier to say "this shows that 48% of Wikipedians need a valium" and finally settled for the IRC bit because... because I thought it would be entirely obvious I was kidding! Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 03:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Boy... I guess my humor isn't getting through! Even the title of this section was meant as a joke. I was most certainly not offended. I'll add the mandatory :-) just in case! Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 03:46, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for asking but I'm not really interested, at least not for now. I'm spending too much time here as it is and I can't say I found the first RfA a particularly pleasing experience. For now, I'll just keep doing my little thing here and there. Pascal.Tesson 03:52, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello Wizardman, regarding the above article; due to the complex nature of the situation, which has knock-on implications to many other articles, it is important to know your reasons why you closed the debate as "keep".-- Zleitzen(talk) 03:31, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

There is still no accompanying reason as to the decision to close the above mentioned article as "keep". Please provide a rationale for your decision and then we can take this further. My request is in accordance with Wikipedia:Deletion policy here;

If you believe a page was wrongly deleted, or should have been deleted but wasn't, or a deletion discussion improperly closed, you should discuss this with the person who performed the deletion, or closed the debate, on their talk page.

This issue is not going away, is very important to the status of many articles and editors, and an explanation is appropriate.-- Zleitzen(talk) 17:11, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply Wizardman.-- Zleitzen(talk) 22:31, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Adminship nomination

Thank you very much for your nomination. I saw the nomination before leaving for vacation, and needed to think about my response. I have been following discussions at RfA for the last couple months, including your nominations of MECU and Jreferee. I have decided to decline your nomination for three reasons:

  1. Last week was the first and longest of 3 trips that I have scheduled for this month. My workload is heavy this month and I don't have enough time to dedicate to supporting an RfA nomination.
  2. I have not been able to formulate what I felt was a good answer to the first question. I had not found Wikipedia:Administrators' how-to guide until today. I will review it and the rest of Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list.
  3. I have not been involved with bringing an article to featured status. I am proud of my work with WP:NRHP including article creation and a DYK, but feel that until I have the experience of bringing an article to featured status it will be difficult for me to feel well-rounded in my participation. Any advice that you have on this would be appreciated.

I appreciate the confidence you have expressed by nominating me. Once I have spent some more time working towards the issues that I have presented, I would be happy to accept a nomination. ~ BigrTex 21:18, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I monitored those two because of my interactions with the individuals. I too had seen MECU around IfD and otherwise doing similar image work to what I've been doing. Jreferee helped me get Mansfield Cut Underwater Archeological District up to DYK standards. It sounds like my schedule is the biggest problem right now, so I'll let you know when it improves and will spend some time working on improving articles when I have time. Thanks again! BigrTex 14:35, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

I left a reply to your Oppose vote in my RfA, in which I've attempted to explain why I made those comments. I know it's not really appropriate for me to dispute oppose votes, and I'm not trying to persuade you to change your vote or anything. I'm sorry that I seem to have got on the wrong side of you; I just don't want you to think less of me, or mistrust me, because of the comments that I made. If you still feel it's a serious problem, I'll withdraw my RfA candidacy and do whatever I can to make amends to you and the other users involved. But please read my explanation first. Walton Vivat Regina! 18:30, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

I hereby pledge that if I get adminship, I will not close any MfDs relating to userspace. I admit that I have some difficulty being neutral and objective about such cases, and I understand why you have questions about whether I'm trustworthy to close MfDs. I don't expect you to change your vote, but I just want to make sure that if I do get adminship, you don't consider me an untrustworthy or dangerous admin. Walton Vivat Regina! 09:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Just adding that I'm not asking you to change your vote. You're entitled to oppose. I just don't want you to think I'm a bad Wikipedian, hence why I've gone to these lengths to explain myself. Walton Vivat Regina! 19:45, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

No rationale

Hi. When you tag images as requiring a rationale, as you did to Image:Cxworld screenshot.jpg, make sure to use {{subst:nrd}} instead of inserting {{no rationale}} directly. Also make sure to notify the uploader according to the instructions on Template:no rationale. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Come on guys, stop being over zealous here. Gosh. Its a flipping screenshot, I thought it was fairuse to include in the article about cyworld. If I labeled it wrong, help me out. I'm annoyed with all the pictures that have been deleted on me while I was away from Wiki just because I might have not met the current (changing) standard for picture labeling. Arrrg. Nesnad 04:57, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

I already added a rational to the picture and fixed it. BUT! It just annoys me how you guys act like these "rules" have always been in place. Wikipedia is an evolving organism and some common sense should be used before tagging pictures. Duh. Its a screenshot that showcases a Korean webpage, of course there needs to be some sort of reference for it. Sorry if I sound angry, I'm just annoyed by like a billion pictures that were deleted while I was gone for not having the right tags, when they were perfectly fine pictures (from other wikipedias and what not) they just got trod on by some over zealous editor. A query please

For those who are not willing to clear out the three day backlog of proposed deletions, the 450 or so speedies or the various image backlogs I have about 400 broken redirects for you to delete. MER-C 06:15, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Many of those broken redirect pages are user pages and user talk pages. Many of those user pages and user talk pages (according to their page histories) are broken redirects created by page moves and someone later deleted the moved file. Some of them have a history before they were made into redirects, and some not; sometimes that history includes messages. Some of them are of the type User:xxxxx/yyyy/zzzz, being "scratch paper" left over from user xxxx working on a page zzzz, and it was later made into a redirect which is now broken. Please recommend what should be done with them. Thanks. Anthony Appleyard 14:58, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

2007 NFL Draft

Looks like the article has been protected again. Perhaps you could weigh on this issue. I don't want to unprotect again and get in a wheel war. I've made my opinion known on the talk page. I think that the number of vandalism edits, considering how many total edits there are, isn't really that high. And if a number of the anonymous editors can edit, there is a possibility they will become Wikipedia editors and edit in a positive manner. I actually have to leave at the moment so I won't be able to continue this discussion, but just putting it out there to see your opinion. Pepsidrinka 17:33, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Also, was wondering your opinion on these new articles popping up on late round draft picks that mention the team that drafted them (erroneously stating they the player is on the team) and the college they play for. I was going to speedy all of them, but I figure I'd get the opinion of someone else. I could have put the speedy tag and let another admin decide, but since your active in these articles, I'm deferring to you. IMO, unless they play a game, they aren't notable. And as the article stand, they are quite useless. Pepsidrinka 16:49, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

I understand it is normal procedure to delete empty categories, however there are MANY occurences where users unfamiliar with policies upload pokemon related images without a source. As finding sourcing is sometimes an involved process, this category allows members of the project to keep an eye on images that this occurs with. I'd like to ask that you restore the category as one necessary for encyclopedic maintenance. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 20:09, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you very much for your consideration, I appreciate you wanting to nominate me. I would like to be an administrator in the near future but would like to wait another month or two. I have a lot of upcoming papers and finals along with having to move from San Diego back to central CA, so this next month is going to be kind of stressful for me. But I would be willing to try for adminship in June though, when I don't have too much on my hands to deal with. This would also give me some time to catch up on reading all of the policies I haven't had a chance to look at. Thank you again though, I really do appreciate it. By the way, could you tell me how to add the online/offline status symbol you have in the top right corner of your user page? I tried it before in the past, but couldn't get it to work. I think that would be really useful for me. --Nehrams2020 02:10, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale

All non-free content needs a detailed rationale for each article where fair use of the content is being claimed. There is no automatic "fair use", it is a defense, not an attribute. The date of upload does not change actual image use policy. Please reconsider your reverts. — CharlotteWebb 16:12, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

On paper you're right, except you forgot one thing. The images in this category are tagged as being used under a fair use claim, but currently lack fair use rationales. This is one criterion for speedy deletion iff (emphasis theirs) it was uploaded after (emphasis theirs) May 4 2006. That's what was following, basically. If it's that big a problem I'll try and add a rationale to that image or just delete it then.--Wizardman 16:17, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Eighteen days is not anyone's definition of speedy deletion. I'm not sure why we would want to save this as I personally don't think it passes WP:NFCC#8 "The material must contribute significantly to the article (e.g. identify the subject of an article, or specifically illustrate relevant points or sections within the text) and must not serve a purely decorative purpose.", again, emphasis "theirs". If I felt differently I would have written a rationale myself. — CharlotteWebb 16:48, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationales?

As I didn't upload the images on the Texas Chainsaw pages that you deleted, I am not aware if a fair use rationale was ever requested and the uploader notified. On a related note, if you ever see an image by me that doesn't have a rationale pleae notify me first and I will give it one. Thanks.--CyberGhostface 00:44, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
