Information icon Hello, I'm Bowler the Carmine. I noticed that you recently removed content from Demographics of Afghanistan without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Article talk pages

[edit]

Here to help you Do you know about article talk pages? You do not seem to be using them to explain how your edits are improving the many articles that you are adding demographic data to. They are very useful for things like that. There are some guidelines on them at: Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines.-- Toddy1 (talk) 13:15, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

AI-generated text

Information icon Hello, I'm Est. 2021. An edit that you recently made to Indigenous Religions of India seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and output must be carefully checked. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Draft first

[edit]
Under construction icon

Thank you for your recent contributions, such as Indigenous Religions of India. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft of your article in draftspace or in your userspace first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. – Est. 2021 (talk · contribs) 08:27, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Draft:Pfütsana Religion. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Warm Regards, Miminity (Talk?) (me contribs) 12:47, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Demographics of India, you may be blocked from editing. Your links don't work, even if I swap them for .com instead of .in. You've also removed multiple sources without properly explaining why, when I can see you've provided to do this before. Please check the links work before adding sources, thanks. Blue Sonnet (talk) 15:50, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Blue-Sonnet I apologise for any inconvenience caused and I will be mindful of it the next time I add or abrogate any information so it may not happen again. Wigglebuy579579 (talk) 16:54, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article) and Draft) for using LLM (AI) and creating incorrect references and articles, and not responding to the discussion at AN/I. Please come to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Wigglebuy579579 to discuss..
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  — rsjaffe 🗣️ 05:05, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request for the unintentional damage caused by me

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Wigglebuy579579 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I was fond of Wikipedia for years because of its privileges of sharing relevant information for free, before I discovered that even I can edit a Wikipedia page just last year. However, I did not read much about Wikipedia's policies because of my laziness. This Unblock request is more of an apology letter for the unintentional damage caused by me because of my lack of understanding. I swear by GOD that I won't do it again now that the knowledge has come to me and I have been judged accordingly. idWigglebuy579579 (talk) 15:45, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

That's a little vague. Could you clarify your understanding of what you did wrong, and what you will do differently from now on? PhilKnight (talk) 16:15, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Wigglebuy579579 (talk) 15:45, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

PhilKnight (talk) What I did wrong: 1) using LLM (AI) and 2) creating incorrect references and articles, and 3) not responding to the discussion at AN/I. Reasons from what I understand that I did wrong: 1) and 2) too lazy to read about Wikipedia's policies until the final blow hit me and the unintentional damage to Wikipedia's integrity has been done as a consequence of it. 3) Shyness. that's just what it is, because I have diagnosed OCD which makes me too shy to engage in serious discussions both in real life and online, but I'll try. What will I do differently: Now that the knowledge has come to me, I will not rely on AI to generate articles. Instead I will edit articles based on clear references for word to word and engage in discussions on how to improve the page on the talk page. Online threats trigger my OCD which is what I feared before. But the Wikipedia community seems to be very friendly and empathetic. So I will not be afraid to discuss things on Wikipedia from now on.

I think an unblock is fine. With two more conditions:
1) I want @Wigglebuy579579 to identify references when making edits. Either by adding a new ref, or, if the reference is already in the article, by including a brief comment in the edit note identifying the reference (e.g., "updated using Briggs, 2021"). Frankly, I wish everyone did this. It's a good habit and helps substantiate your edits when someone questions them.
2) @Wigglebuy579579, should I delete Draft:Toda Religion and Draft:Angami Naga Tribe? I assume they have the same referencing problem.
Thank you and I wish you success as an editor here. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 19:15, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, do it sir. Wigglebuy579579 (talk) 19:18, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok sir, the conditions have been saved in my notes so I may not forget about it. Wigglebuy579579 (talk) 19:21, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have unblocked. Welcome back. PhilKnight (talk) 19:29, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to see you back @Wigglebuy579579!
Please do leave clear edit summaries, it's basically an overview of the history of an article & it's a bit of a nightmare trying to find out who did what if no-one says what they're doing!
If you look at the edit history of Demographics of India, imagine if you had to figure out who added source #58, for example. If you're only changing the odd word or punctuation then it's not such a big deal, but if it's anything that changes the meaning of the article then an explanation is really helpful for the next person.
Also re. AI, a lot major headaches have been caused on here thanks to that - at best, LLM's are either vague or use promotional language (that's how they've been trained), at worst they literally make things up. There's an infamous legal case where a US lawyer got ChatGPT to argue his case for him, the judge was none too pleased when they got a load of arguments based on case laws that never existed in the first place... The lawyer barely managed to keep his licence, after a lot of apologising.
AI is fine for summarising your own words or rephrasing, but TBH you need to babysit it so much that it usually creates more work than it saves.
For an example, take a look at this draft It was entirely written by AI. When I looked at the sources, some of the books didn't exist, others did but the pages were completely unrelated - not a single one was correct. I probably spent twice as long fixing the article compared to the person who created it.
You'd think that using AI to begin an article would be easy, but you're writing an article backwards AND having to fact check the entire thing, AND rewrite/correct any errors, AND check/research sources.
If you want to try again, it could be a good idea to start with a good article & follow the general layout, then ask AI to suggest sources & go from there, but you might want to get more experience with general editing first if you want to build confidence? Go through AFC for a bit until you're sure you've got the hang of it - I'm still newish, but happy to take a look over any new articles if you want a second pair of eyes :) Blue Sonnet (talk) 04:32, 13 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
