Let Wikipedia Burn!!

[edit]

It appears that Wikipedia is having financial issues. They beg like dogs on the pages for money. But even with the following noted plea, Wikipedia deserves to die. Brandon Harris wrote the following in a plea for donations:

"From Wikipedia programmer Brandon Harris - I feel like I’m living the first line of my obituary. I don’t think there will be anything else that I do in my life as important as what I do now for Wikipedia. We’re not just building an encyclopedia, we’re working to make people free. When we have access to free knowledge, we are better people. We understand the world is bigger than us, and we become infected with tolerance and understanding."

But the fact is, as an example of the censorship made by this user "Watkinsian", we are not free, my and others contributions have been censored. Watkinsian is a wikipedia censor. He(she, or it) travels through Wikipedia and deletes what he wants. He blocks users from making just and factual contributions. It's this type of censorship that is contrary to Brandon Harris claim of free knowledge and free people!!

Truth is truth, be it negative or positive. Watkinsian censors out negative truth and facts. Shame on him!! Shame on Wikipedia for allowing him to do so.

May Wikipedia burn down and the many editor censors like Watkinsian with it!! Yahoo!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.41.37.3 (talk) 18:27, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CH2M HILL

[edit]

Please stop changing the location of this company's headquarter to an unincorporated area that is meaningless to all except for local residents of the east side of the Denver area. The purpose of Wikipedia is to inform, and correctly noting that this company is headquartered in a large metropolitan area is far more informative than noting it is located in an unincorporated area that has no name recognition outside the local area. - Zedshed 4-28-09

Please stop the gainsaying. Just stop.

Let me introduce you to something. Did you realize there is a website where retirees from CH2M HILL post their remembrances of the firm's history? These are the people that were there -- at the time -- when significant events occurred in the firm's history.

Here is a quote from their history (http://www.alumni.ch2m.com/History/mature.htm):

"1980 CH2M HILL was now a mature, robust company with a reputation that was beginning to extend well beyond the borders of the U.S.A. The growth process continued unabated, but now it was a bit easier to attract the eyes of major clients. The firm's reputation, so laboriously built and carefully nurtured, served to open doors which had previously been out of reach for the fledgeling company. In this year Gross Income exceeded $100 Milion. Generous salaries, handsome bonuses and Key Employee participation permitted the Company to share the profits with the dynamic, talented staff who generated the revenue. Looking into the future, the firm's officers saw that the seat of operations could be better managed and represented if it was based in a larger, more industrialized location. After much agonizing and discussion, the city of Denver was chosen to become the new home for the firm, and the Executive Offices were moved there, as the first step in establishing all major Corporate functions there."

Please note the text. It doesn't talk about Englewood, or Meridian. It talks about Denver. That's where the headquarters was relocated. It has been at various locations in the Denver Metro area over the years. Its location is Denver.

Please stop the gainsaying. Just stop.

CH2M HILL

[edit]

CH2M HILL's location of Meridian, CO, is a small incorporated area unknown to the vast majority of readers outside the Denver metro area. It is trivia. It doesn't communicate location effectively to most readers. By listing the location as Denver, which represents the Denver SMSA, the company's location becomes immediately understandable to most people with a sense of U.S. Geography.

It is not misleading to list it as Denver. It is accurate and communicates effectively whereas "Meridian" serves only to confuse.

I can see below that you have a pattern with this kind of behavior when it comes to geographic names in Colorado. Despite what you may think, you are not being civil. You are cluttering the script of the article with comments. Please stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zedshed (talkcontribs) 15:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When I have time to construct a statement, I will bring this before the powers that be at Wikipedia. And - until then - please stop changing it back. Your changes won't last. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zedshed (talkcontribs) 07:32, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am puzzled by your insistence at inserting what is essentially trivia into the lead section of the CH2M HILL article. The Company is considered to be Denver-based by the national as well as local business press. It is part of the Denver SMSA. It is pointless and confusing to those unfamiliar with minute trivia of eastern Colorado suburban geography for the Wikipedia article to refer to Meridian, Colorado - a location virtually no one outside of that location will comprehend. Please stop switching it back to Meridian or I will have to escalate this to Wikipedia management.

Thanks

I have noticed you have removed the list of adjacent counties from the article Denver, Colorado, and more than once [1] [2]. I am not sure why you are removing this information. I strongly recommend commenting on the talk page to see what other editors think before removing information from an article. --Ginkgo100 talk · e@ 18:49, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I noticed you removed the reference I put in for the center of population of Colorado. If you check the coordinates on Google Maps, you'll notice that they show up between Redtail Rd and Arnett Ranch Rd, both of which are in the town of Littleton. So the center of population is in Littleton. I've put the reference back on the page. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 02:26, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exclaves versus Dismemberment

[edit]

Arapahoe County is currently a county with two small exclaves. A consolidated City and County of Aurora would only create one more division of Arapahoe County, but that division would separate the county seat and the bulk of the county's population from the bulk of the county's territory. I haven't lived in Aurora or Arapahoe County in 24 years, but Aurora needs all the friends it can get if it hopes for greater autonomy.

Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport lies entirely within Jefferson County, Colorado. Much of the privately owned property surrounding the airport lies in the City and County of Broomfield. Please see the CDOT map of the City and County of Broomfield].

Please fix your edits. If you are unwilling to do a little research, please don't edit. --21:36, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Buaidh

When the Jefferson County Commissioners discovered that the City of Broomfield wanted to become a consolidated City and County, they blocked the annexation of the Jeffco Airport by the City. That's one of the disadvantages of being a City and County.

Maps of every county and town in Colorado are located at [CDOT Maps]. --Buaidh 14:34, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Englewood

[edit]

Please stop changing the locations of Englewood to Centennial. The businesses you're changing all reference their address to Englewood, therefore you are adding Original Research. For unincorporated areas it is typical to refer to the Post Office designation in general, and the references backing the article in particular. AKRadeckiSpeaketh 17:35, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say that Alan is quite right on this one. Please read our policies on verifiability and original research. You need to ask yourself at this point whether there is any verifiable evidence that what you say is true, and, failing that, whether this is worth being blocked over, something that will inevitably happen if you edit-war. --John 02:32, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I see that you are persisting in your edit war, and I'm now going to assume that what you are really doing is vandalism. It has gone beyond a good faith edit attempt, as our policies have clearly been explained to you and you choose to ingore them. AKRadeckiSpeaketh 14:53, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for edit warring and 3RR violation. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This block has been applied by the very editor that is engaging in an edit war with me. This does not seem fair; what keeps him from using his power to block as a vindictive or pre-emptive tool? He should not be the one to interpret the encyclopedia's policies and determine a violation in this case. I appeal to have some independent, disinterested party review this and make his/her own conclusion. This party should also question Akradecki as to why he did not have someone else look into this, as he has an obvious conflict of interest.

Decline reason:

Are you claiming you have not been edit warring and have not violated WP:3RR? — Yamla 18:56, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

FWIW, I did have another admin look at this, User:John, and he warned you very clearly, and you clearly decided to ignore his advice. I came here myself as an outside admin, requested by another editor, and you chose to ignore my outside view and the actions I took to conform these articles to policy. You have been warned multiple times about our 3RR rule, and you deliberately chose to violate this. Time to step back, take a deep breath, and come back with a spirit of cooperation and collaboration. AKRadeckiSpeaketh 19:29, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A little advise: Once your block expires do NOT go back to arguing on the blocking administrators turf. Contact the foundation and let them know of the serious problems that you are having with this individual.68.244.210.210 (talk) 00:24, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was asked to keep and eye on and review the constant changes on these two article, and taking into consideration the comments made I have changed the location in both articles to a simpler version which make it clear the that the legal company address is different to each companies physical location. Each article mentions Centennial Airport and anybody that interested can follow the link to find out more about the location. Please dont keep reverting this change without further discussion on the talk page as your actions could be seen as disruptive. I notice that you have already been blocked before for similar behaviour please take note of what other editors have said. MilborneOne (talk) 17:27, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note continually changing the above two articles without further discussion will be considered as disruptive and vandalism. MilborneOne (talk) 22:43, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Watkinsian, you have been repeatedly editing against consensus, and you have continued to edit despite the clear warning above. The way things work here at Wikipedia summarized in the sequence Bold-Revert-Discuss. You were bold, it was reverted, and at that point you needed to stop, go discuss, and hold off any further edits until you have achieved a consensus for how you think the article should read. Because you have chosen to blatantly ignore the warning above, and are continuing in your disruptive edits, I am now blocking this account as a preventative measure to prevent further disruption. Your last block was for 24 hours, so this one if for 48. AKRadeckiSpeaketh 05:02, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Knud Lonberg-Holm, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Ladislav Sutnar. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 20:24, 15 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unincorporated areas in Colorado

[edit]

In Colorado, unincorporated areas are governed by their respective county. In other states and countries this is not necessarily the case.

The Englewood and Littleton post offices serve many areas nowhere near Englewood or Littleton. Many of these areas are required to use an Englewood or Littleton postal address. Please take a look at the Englewood Zip Code 80112 Map.

Hope things are going well for you. Yours aye,  Buaidh  talk contribs 22:30, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your formulation "Englewood and Littleton post offices" remains false and misleading. The post office for ZIP code 80112 stands at 6855 South Dayton Street in the City of Greenwood Village [3] — some five (5) miles southwest of the Englewood city limits. No part of Englewood lies in the ZIP code 80112. How then is 80112 "the Englewood post office"? Yes, the U.S. Postal Service accepts "Englewood" in addresses with the ZIP code 80112 (a grandfathered convention from the 1960s when ZIP codes were first introduced), but it also accepts "Greenwood Village" and "Centennial" as well [4] — both of which are actually located within ZIP code 80112! Therefore, it is more accurate to say "Greenwood Village post office" than "Englewood post office" — but why must a city name be given at all, when it is misleading like this? And since this is a postal matter, why are you sourcing a sketchy third-party site plastered with ads, rather than the actual U.S. Postal Service? Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
