Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Fokas Method, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:33, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Too many capital letters

[edit]

Please note my recent edits to Fokas method. You're using too many capital letters in section headings. This is codified in WP:MOS. Michael Hardy (talk) 18:56, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Professor Fokas Athanassios at USC.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Professor Fokas Athanassios at USC.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:39, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Vskanavis. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Costas Synolakis, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:41, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Costas Synolakis

[edit]
  1. The article, after you re-created it, still consisted largely of content copied from another source. Merely rearranging the same text and making trivial changes in wording does not alter that. You must stop posting text to Wikipedia that you have copied from elsewhere: if you continue to do so you will be blocked from editing.
  2. Reading the article, it was impossible to fail to see that it was written by someone with a high regard for Costas Synolakis, and a belief that his work is important and valuable. That is not acceptable, as a Wikipedia article must be written from a neutral point of view, and not promote or extol its subject. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 11:43, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  1. Dear Mr. Watsons

Thank you for your comments, will try to re-edit. However, I can't find my text which contained at least 50 hyperlinks, and it took several hours to write. As a comment, I did try to use descriptions of Costas Synolakis from other sources and referred to them, such as EGU and ASCE. Facts are facts, he has been in ma ny documentaries and he is a great communicator of science, just check online or in youtube. Last, it is the American Society of Civil Engineers who characterized him as the leading engineer working on tsunamis. So I included the description in quotes, I do think this is relevant. As I wrote, i will re-write, but kindly undelete the draft so I can work on it, without loosing the hyperlinks. Best wishes Vassilis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vskanavis (talkcontribs) 06:31, 22 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have received your email. Here is some information which I hope will make it easier to communicate with other editors in future.
  1. Whenever you write on a talk page or any other kind of discussion page, finish your post with four tildes (that is to say ~~~~). That will be automatically converted to a signature, which will not only show who wrote the message, but will also contain a link to your talk page, making it easy for other editors to find their way here if they wish to post a message here. (If you click the link labelled (talk) in my signature it will take you to my talk page.)
  2. If you post a message on a talk page, such as this one, there is a way to make sure a particular editor sees it, without having to email them. To do this, as well as including ~~~~ in your post you also put {{Ping|JamesBWatson}} (or whatever the name of the editor you want to contact is) then that editor will get a notification that there is a message for him or her, so that he or she can find it. The notification comes as a little number on a red background at the top of the page, and clicking on that will provide details of any notified messages. (Note: the notification system works only if you use ~~~~ and {{ping|...}} in the same edit, so for example if you use {{ping}} but forget to use ~~~~ then coming back and adding ~~~~ in a separate edit won't work.)
I can't post a page which appears to infringe copyright to Wikipedia, but I shall email you a copy of the Wikipedia source, complete with hyperlinks and everything else, so that you can work on it. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:40, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
