World of Art

This isn't suitable as an infobox image. Can you do it as a gallery instead? Johnbod (talk) 18:18, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

I thought it too, just feel a gallery with a single picture looks a bit weird, not to mention it's not a copyright free image. But since it isn't appropriate in the infobox, I'll do it as a gallery. Uriel1022 (talk) 18:33, 18 December 2021 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, but I meant splitting them out - I think this is ok for fair use. Johnbod (talk) 21:02, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

Manichaeism

I've been working on improving the English language Wikipedia articles on Manichaeism and I noticed your work on zh:Template:摩尼教页脚. It contains a link zh:米特拉斯派, was that link to be zh:密特拉教 or Mithraism or zh:米特拉斯派 Mithrasites? I have been struggling and failing to find references to 米特拉斯派. MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 19:07, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

I didn't create that link, it was put there by the template's creator zh:User:Nanahomura. I did some research too, though it yielded no results. Uriel1022 (talk) 23:52, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
@Uriel1022: have you attempted to ask them before? They seem to be still active, but not on English Wikipedia. MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 00:03, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
I left a message on Nanahomura's talk page, I'll let you know once I get a reply. Uriel1022 (talk) 00:30, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
@Uriel1022: I see that he has responded on his talk page, but I do not understand it. Did it help with identifying what zh:米特拉斯派 is? MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 17:55, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
It turns out that the name is "Miqlās" or "Miqlāsijja", not "Mithrasites", such a lost in translation. I found this: Manichaeism in the Later Roman Empire and Medieval China, p. 83; and more information on p. 164 of the same book according to Nanahomura, but it seems that there's no preview available online. "Miqlās (the 'Miqlāsiyya')" is mentioned in this short article: Abū Hilāl al-Dayhūri. The other book, The Messenger of Light: Mani and Manichaeism (光明的使者:摩尼與摩尼教), is in Chinese (leave this part to me). I'll do a more thorough research later, I'll let you know if I get anything useful. (By the way, his/her message was left through a VPN, so I didn't get a notice). Uriel1022 (talk) 12:54, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
Well Miqlas and Miqlasiyya are both mentioned in Abū Hilāl al-Dayhūri so there's a lead there MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 16:57, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
I made a draft article for it Draft:Miqlāsiyya MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 17:28, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
I did a general revision. Do you mean an independent article for "Miqlāsijja"? 'Cause your draft redirects to Manichaean schisms. Uriel1022 (talk) 09:06, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
@Uriel1022: I was working on an independent article on it, but I quickly decided that an independent article was not warranted with the amount of content available. Many figures in the template were only notable within the context of the events of the article. I merged the events of the Miqlasijja vs Mihrijja schism with the article on the East-West schism and renamed the article. With this, I finally feel like everything is at a decent level in English Wikipedia on Manichaeism. MaitreyaVaruna (talk) 01:28, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Sogdians?

Hi Uriel1022. Could you explain on what ground the people in this picture File:Sogdians from Tʻung-wan City.jpg can be identified as Sogdians? पाटलिपुत्र Pat (talk) 14:56, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

My bad, I've made a request for renaming the file. Thank you for informing it to me. Uriel1022 (talk) 18:26, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

Thank you so much for your work in uploading those very handsome images and creating the article Book of Common Prayer (1845 illuminated version). It is rare that we get such a quality article on in the Anglican liturgy sphere; your courtesy and effort deserves recognition! Keep up the good work! ~ Pbritti (talk) 21:12, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

I shared your article and images with some of my friends, many of whom reported back a sense of gratitude towards you and the late illustrator. I am currently in the process of writing other prayer book articles and hope to encounter you in this fun little circle of Wikipedia more frequently! ~ Pbritti (talk) 21:12, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Thank you very much, Pbritti! It's a great honour. Feels like I haven't done any significant contribution to Anglicanism, but it's a start. I'm pretty sure that your passion for those very interesting and diverse versions of prayer books will lead us to cross paths again. Uriel1022 (talk) 17:11, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Book of Common Prayer (1845 illuminated version)

On 4 July 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Book of Common Prayer (1845 illuminated version), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Owen Jones's elaborately ornamented Book of Common Prayer "pointed to the direction that books in general were to follow in the Victorian Age"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Book of Common Prayer (1845 illuminated version). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Book of Common Prayer (1845 illuminated version)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Quick Chinese Anglicanism question

Ok—I lied: it's not quick. I was hoping your overlap of Chinese Anglicanism and prayer book history might be helpful. Have you ever heard of a green, thin Book of Common Prayer from pre-1987 published by an "Anglican Literature Society"? While the title page and liturgy portions are bilingual, what I presume is the preface is in Chinese (and my photographic translator has been unhelpful). If you have any suggestions of where to look for more info, I want to make a page on Chinese Anglican liturgy. ~ Pbritti (talk) 15:37, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

@Pbritti: Hi, Pbritti, nice to "see" you again. I did a brief search, unfortunately nothing is found at this moment. It seems to require a bit longer time for researching. Is it possible to show me a photo of that book? It would be helpful for my research.

To be honest, I'm not an "expert" in Chinese Anglicanism despite being both an Anglican and a descendant of that country. The reasons are: 1) Anglicanism has completely disappeared in China since 1958; 2) Chinese ecclesiastical history was not, are not and will never be systematically taught in schools or universities because of political reasons; 3) From my personal point of view, there is an intentional cover-up of any real history related to Christianity in China. This is also, no doubt, due to political reasons. So please give me more time, I'll let you know once I "excavate" something.

By the way, I wanna thank you again for your contribution to Anglicanism. Uriel1022 (talk) 00:43, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
@Pbritti: Hi, Pbritti, I was unable to find any information in English. Please show me some photos, I need to know the Chinese title, even better if you can provide me with information regarding publisher's name in Chinese, date and place of publication. DYK for Catholic Church in Sichuan

On 1 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Catholic Church in Sichuan, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the first Catholic synod in China was held in 1803 near Chungkingchow in Sichuan Province? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Catholic Church in Sichuan. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Catholic Church in Sichuan), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page.
