Questions
Hi! Tom,
I've been busy adding references and links to this article Frybread and wanted to know if I could remove the reference request tag. I added references and removed one quirky :-) reference about Maximilian and his gypsies bringing frybread to Native Americans. I hope that is OK to do here. Also, I tried to link the Navajo to a page about Navajo People and couldn't quite figure that one out. The link went to the disambiguation page instead. Any ideas on how fix this? I'm having fun and it's fun to write in a peaceful place. LittleRedWriter (talk) 20:32, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

- Hello. I removed the reference tag and disambiguated the Navajo link in this edit. LittleRedWriter, please feel free to remove reference tags if you have added a reference. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:00, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Trenzalor redux
You may already be watching these pages, but our friend first moved Talk:Trenzalore to Article:Trenzalore and recreated the old article there. Now he's moved that to an alternate spelling: Trenzalor. Only an admin can move the whole mess back to Talk:Trenzalore. First Light (talk) 21:13, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for telling me. I've deleted Talk:Trenzalore, deleted and recreated Trenzalore as a redirect and protected it. Warned the user. This really is a total and complete waste of time. —Tom Morris (talk) 22:00, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- I agree — and the protection seems the best way to protect from further wastage of time.... Thanks, First Light (talk) 03:51, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
Hello again,
I am sorry that you feel this is a waste of time. What I think is a waste of my time is going through WP:DRV process. There are so many loop hole and redirects, it is difficult to find the proper place to put the complaint. Please explain why you feel so adamant to make me jump through these hoops. I am just trying to get some of the information on to an observable place on the Internet. This article as it is currently written will not remain in it's current state for very long. There are many revision and edits that are still to be made. I do not know what the final product will be. It cannot be corrected unless it is has time to mature. Once again I was simply being bold, I apologies for using such covert tactics to get the material onto the site. However, It is my opinion at this point in time that first light and Tom morris are too closed minded about the issue. They would continue to oppose it's publication even if I had testimonies for president, pope, or the dahlia lama himself. This is just a hypothetical to exaggerate my point. I will continue to pursue the matter until your opinion's do change.
edg's comment about moving to a different site is a good suggestion but it will take alot more time then I care to give to change all the google, bing, yahoo, and ask search queries to redirect to a site other than wikipedia on such a small topic such as trenzalore. There is also the issue of the many other pages within wikipedia that would need to be created on the other site. Others may start putting information on the tardiswikia but i have other things that preoccupy my time. This being one of them
Awaiting your responce,
Jerrydeanrsmith (talk) 05:45, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
- The Pope may be Christ's vicar on earth, but if he were to side with you in this quixotic crusade, I would have to politely inform him that the inspiration of the Holy Spirit may be misguiding him on elementary aspects of Wikipedia policy.
- Sadly, neither His Holiness nor President Obama have weighed in on the notability guidelines on Wikipedia as they apply to Doctor Who fancruft. Until we do get such advice from powers temporal or spiritual, the issue is delegated to the Wikipedia community and the administrators it chooses to elect.
- I'm sorry that you feel I have mistreated you on these matters: I can, and have, assured you that this is not a close call. Every admin would have acted in much the same way that I have.
- Not that such advice will deter you. When someone is truly committed to their view and is unable to take "no" for an answer, the best one can hope for is hurrying them along down the inevitable path they have already chosen, even if it is utterly fruitless.
- In that spirit then, if you believe I have not treated you fairly, I invite you to start a thread at the administrators' noticeboard for incidents, which is the usual route for those who feel administrators have been unfair. I must warn you though, given policy, the result is a foregone conclusion: they will point out that the article did not meet the notability guidelines, and that the only thing that will change that is, as the general notability guidelines states, the existence of numerous independent reliable sources to establish notability. They will perhaps then question exactly why you have failed so spectacularly to grasp this extremely simple and basic aspect of Wikipedia policy even after repeated explanation. They may conclude from this that you are not exhibiting the minimum level of competence required to edit Wikipedia, and perhaps suggest that to safeguard everyone's sanity and productivity, a block be applied to your account so you cannot waste either my time or your own.
- Given that all previous efforts to explain Wikipedia's policy have been fruitless, you will most probably not heed my warnings, and you'll proceed to the administrators' noticeboard regardless, and then when they do almost exactly what I have just described, you will conclude that a grand conspiracy or cabal of administrators are out to persecute you and suppress your vital efforts to share your knowledge with the world.
- Do not let the advice I have just given stop you from pursuing the course of action you were going to follow anyway.
- You could also surprise me by not doing this, and instead accepting that I might actually be right in my understanding and application of utterly uncontroversial aspects of Wikipedia policy, that I have been meticulously fair in this, then cut your losses and not subject yourself to the humiliating ritual of being told you are wrong again. The choice is yours. —Tom Morris (talk) 09:59, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Pope John Paul II, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Phenomenology (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Editing through protection
Hi Tom Morris, please begin your reading here, continue here, and review the article talk page and the authorship of the link you just inserted. I believe you have just made a controversial edit through full protection. If you do not wish to self-revert, I can take this further - however I'd prefer to avoid such a course. Franamax (talk) 16:44, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- I don't plan on self-reverting, as I don't believe I have done anything controversial. As I've said on the talk page, any other admin is free to revert my edit if they believe it to be controversial. I won't make an issue out of it. I don't see a reason to self-revert, but I won't be a dick about it if someone else does it.
- With all due respect to the Arbitration Committee, Cirt's history at English Wikipedia is utterly irrelevant to his contribution at Wikinews. The Wikinews story is legitimately published, sourced and so on. If you think there is something Wikinews admins should be concerned with, I invite you to contact an uninvolved Wikinews admin, please post it on n:WN:AAA. —Tom Morris (talk) 17:49, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
- (e/c) Thanks for the offer Tom, I did revert the edit in question. I will note though, I'm not aware of how BRD could ever apply to a protected page, since admins are supposed to be leading, rather than reverting each other. The whole idea of page protection is to get the discussion and agreement before the edits. (after e/c) I'm not involved with Wikinews and they are responsible for their own internal discipline. I mostly worry about this project, though I'm wondering about the meta-issues just now - but hopefully that will go away soon. Franamax (talk) 17:57, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

JSTOR article
I am planning on starting an article on a film that is a notable director's first major film. The Google Scholar search has the snippet "Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania; Gunvor Nelson: Trollstenen, My Name is Oona, Kirsa Nicholina, (with Dorothy Wilev) Schmeer guntz; Susan Pitt: Asparagus. ... Haller, Robert A. "Excerpts from an Interview with Bruce Conner." Film Culture 67-68-69 (1979), 191-194. The article is this. If I can at least get a sentence that shows that a course study including the film Asparagus was published in a scholarly journal, that would help the article. newbie with questions
Hi Tom. I'm sorry to only just now have noticed your invitation for help with questions/advice! I'm new to contributing to Wikipedia and I'm puzzled by the alerts posted at the top of the entry (George Stonbely) that I posted a few months ago. I understand the need for more citations, which was one of the things I was intending to add. But this entry wasn't written for promotional purposes so I don't know how/why I would have to change the way it's written to make it "neutral"...it IS neutral. Regarding the notability issues, has the person who posted this alert ever been to Times Square in New York City? Half of those sparkly lights and all of the moving images for which Times Square is world famous are there because of this guy's groundbreaking work. He's been an important influence in Times Square and other cities around the world and that's why I thought the man and his work warranted an entry in Wikipedia. If you could help me navigate these issues properly, I'd be most appreciative. Thank you!!! KikiwaKikiwa (talk) 20:34, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

As the gallery is a not to profit started by a big name like Marriott and Marriott have partnered with kaali sudheer. Thought it will be of great use for artists around the world to use this wonderful space and show their talent. Hi,
the Twinkle source code is actually maintained at https://github.com/azatoth/twinkle. Changes you make in the gadget file risk being overwritten if nobody notices, so it's best if you always leave a note at WT:TW.

MSU Interview
Dear Tom Morris,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and
Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's
Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we
teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community,
and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what
you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community
[[Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)/Archive_82#Learn_to_be_a_Wikipedia_Administrator_-
_New_class_at_MSU|HERE]], where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my
students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training,
motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one
of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of
communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will
never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an
interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics
review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have
been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak
with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I
will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your
name HERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be
more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

It clearly needs to be rewritten by an unbiased 3rd party. Clmsntigr (talk) 00:55, 17 February 2012 (UTC)Clmsntigr

Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Uni Lad, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National Union of Students (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

West of England Main Line
Thanks. He also came to my talk page in a faintly threatening tone [2]. The thing is, he may well be correct to say that electrification was proposed at one time, but he seems not to understand that such a substantial claim requires a source. Am I right that one may remove unsourced claims at any time? If so, do you know where is the rule that says so in black and white? He claims that instead of removing his edit I should have found a source myself. -- Alarics (talk) 21:41, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- The choice between removing unsourced claims and tagging them with {{citation needed}} really is a matter of both judgment and harm. It's not a clear line, but most reasonable people should be able to decide without too much difficulty. For instance, on BLPs, you should remove rather than tag. —Tom Morris (talk) 21:49, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
Page deletion clarification - PreludeSys
Hi Tom,
The page PreludeSys has been deleted on 10.February 2012. I would like to create a new page for the same. Is it possible to do that? If yes, how should it be done? and if no, why cannot I create a new page?
May i also know the reason for the page being deleted?
