My addition to Lucifer was accurate and included a citation why is it deleted automatically

Here is my edit below. I know this to be fact, what is the problem with adding truth to wikipedia. If issues like this can't be resolved I will not use this website and will not recommend anyone else does.

The true meaning of the name Lucifer has been lost throughout the many ages of translations and interpretations of the Bible. In the Beginning God created the firstborn son Jesus who was named Lucifer before being born as Yehoshua(Jesus). The name Lucifer has the meaning "light bringer" where as his twin brother the Devil is the opposite of light. When the Devil decided to lead the angels down to earth and disobey God he started becoming "the Devil", where as his brother Lucifer was doing the opposite by obeying God and doing everything he was told. That is why he is called someone who "was daily his delight"(KJV, Holy Bible, Proverbs 8:30) or "a master worker"(The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures).Cite error: " I personally believe that information from this Gay City News article should be included in the article in order to elaborate on Keller's precise stance, but others disagree. I think that there is a possibility that the key to reaching consensus may be either in what way the article is cited or in which quote from the article is selected.CurtisNaito (talk) 18:14, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

ID reconsider

178.116.208.77 (talk) 15:03, 20 December 2012 (UTC) Please reconsider inserting my reference to Meyer's major and readible book from 2009 that I found very convincing.Wikipedia has to be non-biased and open for all the well documented arguments on the matter of ID. I consider myself a rationalist and certainly no bigot. Most references on the lemma are rather old so I thought this work should be mentionned 178.116.208.77 (talk) 15:03, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

You added a commercial link to buy the book. If there is a website that discusses the content of the book that might be more appropriate? You can always make suggestions on the article talk page.Theroadislong (talk) 15:11, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

178.116.208.77 (talk) 15:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)There is of course the wikipedia link 'signature in the cell' that should be inserted in the article on ID.178.116.208.77 (talk) 15:18, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

The book is listed here List of works on intelligent design with hundreds of other books, I can't see any reason for linking it in the Intelligent design article, unless you wish to cite it it some way?Theroadislong (talk) 15:27, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Thank You!

I really appreciate your contribution. Love and peace!-- Lubna Rizvi 11:55, 2 January 2013 (UTC) My edit to Jesus

Howdy, I made an edit to the Jesus article and I felt I left a good explanation as to why the move was needed, and you reverted that edit with no explanation and marked it as a minor edit. Would you mind giving me an explanation for the revert so I have some food for thought? Akuvar (talk) 19:02, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

I reverted it because the comment there says "The paragraph below was created by consensus after considerable discussion by a variety of editors. Out of courtesy for this process, please discuss any proposed changes on the talk page before editing it" and you didn't discuss it on the talk page as far as I'm aware? Kind regardsTheroadislong (talk) 19:33, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
But editors on wikipedia are not required to follow those requests, correct? And I do not believe that failure to adhere to someone's request is a valid reason to perform a wholesale reversion of a good-faith edit, is it? Just as out of courtesy you should have written an edit summary when you performed the revision. Lastly, the reversion of my edits should not have been marked minor. I do thank you for responding to my inquiry. Akuvar (talk) 22:07, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

I am trying tp improve the article on Karen McCrimmon by correcting grammar and so on. I have removed redundancies, but have included no new material.

I am also trying to make the piece less hagiographic.

I am very frustrated that I cannot talk with you! I made changes to Paul Soldner's wiki page because it needed more and better information, not less. At this time it is an uninformative site. I thought the wiki sites were supposed to be educational. Tell me what I need to do to make what I submitted acceptable. I would assume you would prefer people who know something about their subject to be the ones offering information. This makes me suspect that other sites are also not as helpful as they could be. Please contact me so that I can make Paul Soldner's wiki site much better that it is currently.

I don't understand how I am supposed to sign this talk page.Stephanie soldner sullivan (talk) 00:24, 22 January 2013 (UTC) Stephanie (like this?)

User:Crusoe8181 reverted your edits because of your clear conflict of interest and because they provided no reliable third party references. When you are closely connected to an article subject it's best to suggest improvements on the article talk page but you will need to provide references for any material. I will take a look later and see what I can add for you. All good wishes.Theroadislong (talk) 09:21, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Paul Soldner, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Raku (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

As one of the editors who reverted the edits on Priory School, Isle of Wight last month, I would appreciate your views on my latest changes. I have tried to go back to before the large number of edits that introduced all the unencyclopaedic content, so I have tried to improve the tone, add back some of the content that got lost and improve the references. It will need more work, but I hope it is back in a sensible state. If you have any comments, do let me know. Thanks. Adamiow (talk) 23:21, 9 February 2013 (UTC)

Sorry that i am posting on your talk, i know you dont like me to do it but i have a quest for you. you said that IMDB is not a reliable source for adding as a reference to an article but on Bono's there is some reference from IMDB wich points that he is a fan of the Celtic FC. Lymphoma

Hi Theroadislong - the link we added isn't inappropriate. Wikiepedia's external links policy states that it's appropriate to link to 'Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that is relevant to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject and cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues,[3] amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks), or other reasons. If you visit our website you will find a wealth of patient-friendly information about almost any aspect of lymphoma on there for patients, which we provide free of charge. Everything is reviewed by patients and doctors and regularly updated. We used to get about 5% of our traffic through Wikipedia, until someone removed the link, which was a huge disservice to people living with a lymphatic cancer diagnosis. Please put the link back in! We're a UK non-profit with an extremely prestigious medical advisory panel (see the About Us section on our website, lymphomas.org.uk, for more information)

Thanks for the addition, but I'm concerned about using this source — ever since I found it, I've thought it to be somewhat of an opinion page, not a reliable source. That's the only reason I didn't add it a good while ago, and also the only reason I've not added this followup story, which notes that his property taxes would be substantially lower if he lived there — this makes me suspect that he's essentially trying to cheat the tax people by pretending to live there. George Komsky

You don't realize that George has been a protege of Seth's since 2005, just because no one from the LA times came to a voice lesson does not mean it isn't true. If you look at Mr. Webb's claims they are sourced to his personal website, does that not seem like a COI of interest to you?

Could you please remove the COI that you put on George's article? Yes I started his page, but now that his fans know about it they will be contributing as well. He is a good kid and everything i've contributed to the article is true.

Please understand that I meant no harm in anything. Also, did you write the hurtful comments on the talk page of the article? Or was that just someone that brought the page to your attention?

Ngoesseringer (talk) 21:14, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia requires reliable references, if you can find any, feel free to reintroduce the content. As for Phillip Webb it is referenced here [1] also. I did not write the comments on the talk page, I wouldn't be so childish. When you have a clear conflict of interest it is best to suggest improvements on the article talk page rather than directly editing yourself. All good wishes.Theroadislong (talk) 21:22, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for being so kind and prompt with your reply. Could you please remove the COI from the top of the page? I really just want to avoid the COI tag, I have not mentioned ANYTHING untrue or unverifiable, I just wanted to cite his actual accomplishments sans hyperbole or exaggeration.

Please help?

Hi there. I just wanted to ask her help.... Firstly let me apologize for any edit mistakes I made. I'm new at this and I wasn't aware of the process. Could you offer any advice on the afd process? Is there anything else that I should avoid now? I have removed myself from the edits completely and I wanted to get your opinion on how the article stands now? Also, have you noticed how belligerent the editors have been? Is this normal and acceptable behavior? Please take a look at their comments: 'sources are crap' 'person is a nobody' 'charities are biased and lying'... Etc. it's really offensive and I thought wikipedia was supposed to be above that.Ngoesseringer (talk) 09:16, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

As far as I can tell User:TheRedPenOfDoom wasn't calling George a nobody he was saying he was a somebody? he said "they have an inherent conflict of interest in having a SOMEONE rather than a NOBODY perform for their cause" I think the main problem is that Wikipedia is VERY, VERY against PR people working on articles, as you have found. Wikipedia strives to be neutral and if PR people are allowed to create articles all over the place, that neutrality is threatened. Attacking other editors as you have done here [2] is only going to lead to a block. Please comment on content and not other editors. Your cause is not helped by the slew of single purpose accounts editing at the afd this always rings alarm bells. I'll take another look at the article, but don't worry if it's deleted this time, if someone is notable then an article will eventually be created by someone neutral and unconnected.Theroadislong (talk) 10:00, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

You are mistaken, he is directly implying that George is a nobody and that they would want invent in a PR release that he is a somebody. Ngoesseringer (talk) 05:13, 4 April 2013 (UTC) AFD Komsky

Hi, I am one of those single issue editors you described. I like the subject, noticed his posting on Facebook and decided to contribute, but I've done so without any wrongdoing. After reading the deletion page, I noticed that redpenofdoom removed a citation about the amount of people that watched his anthem for he patriots, saying they weren't watching him. But it wasn't the claim of the article. Then a later editor faulted the subjects notability because according to him no one watched the game on live TV. However, if he had seen the page before redpenofdoom subjectively removed the proof that it was seen by an enormous audience, he wouldn't have made his comment and may not have voted delete. Could you please make sure that redpenofdoom does not again sway the conversation with questionable edits?

I know they re not source worthy on the page, but its CONCLUSIVE visual confirmation that the performance was broadcast live, its NBC's live broadcast for crying out loud! Please take a look at orangemike and the others claiming that I am liar, that we are inventing things. Its hurtful and not true!!!!!!!! This whole process is is just so ugly, why?

Hi! I voted on the George Komsky afd and I read a lot of the discussion. It seems to me that there is a large grey area with respect to notability, and I cited direct references from WP guidelines to make that point. Could you please let me know if you think the subjectivity in the afd has clouded some of the editorial judgment on both sides? Per example, the detracting editors have decided that they can judge content in addition to judging wikipedia rules, of which I'm certain they are experts in, but that does not make them experts in judging sources or in claiming that something is unimportant, when in fact they could be wrong about that. Isn't it dangerous for them to write with authority on something that is no more then an opinion? You know a whole hell of a lot more then I do about these things. I'm curious as to what your opinion is and what happens now? Also where do I go to find out about what new articles need editing? Mikeclark22 (talk) 22:57, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

I shouldn't worry too much about it all, life's too short. An admin will decide on the merits of all the comments. If Kompsky truly is notable then more reliable references will become available and the article can be recreated in the future, it's no big deal. Hopefully it will NOT be recreated by his PR company (this ALWAYS leads to disaster on Wikipedia).

As for new articles that need editing, just follow your interests. Have fun.Theroadislong (talk) 09:29, 10 April 2013 (UTC) Merge discussion for Décolletage

My intentions was to change the idea from myth to theory. I thought that would be a more appropriate fit for the article. I felt I was acting accordingly to the second piller of wikipedia (Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view.) I left the article to research on how to change the title of a wiki article. My plans were to come back and finish editing the article. I had plans to add a few new section of the "opposing view" to the article. I felt this article scoffed at and was very dismissive of the idea that the flood has tangible evidence(in recent years). To say something is a myth is completely disregarding the large portion of the population that believes and have "imperial evidence" to prove their point. I do respect the policies of Wikipedia and intend to abide by them wholeheartedly. I did not mean to garner and unnecessarily attention form the powers that be. I apologize for you having to take time to tend to this situation. I can assure you the edits were coming from a good place. For future reference, If I did want to make drastic changes to an article, what would be the correct protocol to follow Plcoopr (talk) 23:43, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Use the talk page and ask for a name change in this case. You'll have to argue that our policy at Wikipedia:Article titles#Common names supports the change you want and you'll need to get consensus. Dougweller (talk) 06:00, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

neutral point of view

Whoever is editing the American Academy of Financial Management article is adding defamatory content in there. The exiting editors may have some COI problems with the article. conflict of interest I am familiar with CFA, CFP and AAFM and none of them offer diplomas or degrees, but some editor is stating that AAFM offers degrees which is wrong. The AAFM article also contains criticism that has been exposed to be fraudulent by WIKIs very own references and editors. As a financial planner, I am knowledgeable in the area, and this article is horrible. The article should mirror other articles in the industry such as CFA Institute and Certified Financial Planner. My edits and references are from the US Government, FINRA, US Law Schools, US Department of Labor and accreditation agencies, but the senior editor keeps removing these important links. Further I added links to published signed contracts and web links that are extremely important to expose the facts in relation to this article. Please help keep a balanced approach. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cfpcertified (talk • contribs) 00:54, 22 April 2013 (UTC) Garfield Finlay

leading section at Molecular Adsorbents Recirculating System (MARS)

The lead should be able to stand alone as a concise overview. It should define the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points—including any prominent controversies. Knitting edit

My inclusion of the Craftsy link on the Knitting page was not at all a marketing ploy. How can the previous link to Ravelry be included then? (I'm new to Wiki-editing, and I understand that it'd be better to include a link as a citation, but if the link is to give a demonstration of an online community that does what the wikipage is about.. how can one community be promoted over another?) The Website I linked to, http://webconferencing-test.com/en/online-meeting-home, includes usefull content in the context of the article: The Web conferencing test page offer a broad market overview for web conferencing tools and gives information about their functionality, usuability, security and costs. It is conform to the requirements of Wikipedia, it is a full independent and reliable website.

So I would be glad if you recall the removing and accept the external link to http://webconferencing-test.com/en/online-meeting-home.

I am concerned that you thought I was advertising my book. I have to inform you that as I have just returned from the Isles of Scilly, my novel is up there with Michael Morpurgo and Nevil Shute as described on the Wikipedia page.It was not meant as soapboxing. I don't need to do that, my book is selling fine on the islands with local bookshops. The story is based around the island life and visitors are finding it most interesting. It is just another book which readers can enjoy if they are going to the islands. The story is based on Scilly and I was informing readers that this is just another book to add to the list of novels about Scilly. It is actually on sale locally as is Morpurgo and Shute and all the other books about Scilly which you have mentioned in the information about the islands. It is generally accepted by the local people as a romance novel based on Scilly. I really don't feel that this book should be left out of the list as it describes island life really well and has already proved itself.

Perhaps you might inform me how I can include my novel in the list of information about Scilly? The book is well accepted by the local people on Scilly. I know this for sure having just been there.

Thanks for your help (Lin Treadgold (talk) 21:21, 1 August 2013 (UTC))[reply]

I think you may be misunderstanding how Wikipedia works. Firstly writing about yourself means you have a big WP:conflict of interest. Michael Morpurgo and Nevil Shute are notable authors with their own Wikipedia articles. There is no article for Lin Treadgold yet on Wikipedia so no indication of your own WP:Notability. You will need multiple references to the book in WP:reliable sources to provide evidence of the book's notability, your own observations are not enough. Hope this helps. Theroadislong (talk) 10:07, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your explanations. I was unaware of the notability aspect and thought that is was all to do with information to help others discover matters of interest, especially regarding the islands. My book does exactly that and although I am an unknown author on Wikipedia, I hope very soon I shall have several books published so that I can be an author of notoriety! Pity really because my novel is so popular at the moment with the tourists. I recently sold 160 books at a signing session on the islands. Not bad for a new book on a small island! I thought it would help with the information on your site. Ah well. Another time eh?

All the best to you,

I think it's better without, it seemed to be asserting an opinion in Wikipedia's voice? Theroadislong (talk) 20:09, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I removed it in both EDUN and Ali Hewson :) Thanks for the advice... Miss Bono [zootalk] 20:12, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I found some kind of GA review on Bono and posted it in the talk page, maybe you can help me to fix a few of them, seems I have english problems. Would you take a look? Miss Bono [zootalk] 20:13, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong. I wanted to let you know I've introduced myself on the Talk page of WhitePages.com as a PR rep hoping to improve the article with a COI. The editor that was using User: WhitePages Inc. was very apologetic about any prior transgressions. I noticed you reverted her here and thought you might be interested in looking at our draft in the future. I'll be complying with WP:COI by offering content for consideration on the Talk page and leaving editorial decisions up to regular editors that serve our reader's best interest exclusively. I'm not always 100% neutral, but companies tend to make dramatic improvements to Wikipedia with my help and I've started standardizing on bringing them up to GA where possible. CorporateM (Talk) 00:11, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I left a message there, please, do you think you can help? Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:16, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Paarl Mountain Geology

[edit]

Hi Theroadislong,

This message is regarding the Paarl Mountain Geology entry into Wikipedia (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Paarl_Mountain).

I am a member of the sub-committee (WCGSSA) that was responsible for writing and compiling the pdf which we uploaded to the website (https://sites.google.com/site/gssawcb/geo-heritage-initiatives/geosite-1-paarl-mountain).

The main aim of this sub-committee is to provide free information on the Geology in our area and as such we decided to copy the information in the pdf "brochure" to wikipedia where were hoped it would reach a wider audience.

I understand why this has been flagged as a copyright problem, but I'm not too sure how to prove that it is in fact our committee's original content that has been posted by us.

We hope to add more geological information to wikipedia in the future and I would be very grateful if you could advise me on how to go about avoiding future copyright issues.

Thanks

I think User:Moonriddengirl may have answered your question on your talk page. Theroadislong (talk) 14:52, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Checked and added back with a reference. Theroadislong (talk) 17:38, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
thanks again. Miss Bono [zootalk] 17:44, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, wandering around, I found an annoying template here EDUN#Mission. Can you please, seek for some third-party source? Miss Bono [zootalk] 17:52, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think about our new picture for Bono infobox? Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:11, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It looks great! Theroadislong (talk) 13:18, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, thanks! Now Bono is Mr. McDreamy lol-- User:Quadell helped me! I just edited the image, so The Edge disappear and some blue glows as well. Glad you've liked it. Let's see what does Y2kcrazjoker4 think about it :) Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:23, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing yet! The change of the pict was undone. Well, it seems like I will have to travel to Ireland to take a picture of Bono by myself at daylight :P. Will be next time. Miss Bono [zootalk] 14:21, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am leaving

[edit]

I am leaving Wikipedia. It was so nice to meet you. Take care. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:01, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Really sorry to hear that...come back again at some point maybe when you have better internet? Take care too. x Theroadislong (talk) 13:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
For better Internet I will have to move to another country :'( I really enjoyed our misunderstandings and I am grateful for all the help you gave me. Miss Bono [zootalk] 13:15, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lucy Hutchinson (Actress)

[edit]

Sorry about the link. I was under the impression that the YouTube links were acceptable as the original 'Goodfellas' link was done by somebody else and has been on there for quite some time. I can't really see why it isn't relevant? The adverts were both televised and are in the public domain so could be sourced by anyone anyway. Both of these links are very relevant to the page? Neither of the links are a direct advert to Lucy Hutchinson, they are just examples of her work that can be shown without breaching copyright. Please reconsider this and let me know your answer?

Thanks

There may be a case for adding them but I was looking at this before I removed them. Theroadislong (talk) 13:54, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, like I say it's not my call. I was just following suit from a previous editor on the page.--Gary Hutchinson (talk) 13:59, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's extremely unlikely that the advertisements are in the public domain; what made you think that they were? --Orange Mike | Talk 15:27, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
