Nga wai hono i te Po

[edit]

I know the impulse to go fast and be first, but don't go too fast on this topic. You've made a mistake on her birth name. Nurg (talk) 23:23, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ok TheLoyalOrder (talk) 23:23, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
could you change it if you know what it is, i just put what i thought rnz was saying TheLoyalOrder (talk) 23:26, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Her birth name is at the start of the family section. Puhi Ariki is her prev title, I think, but I like to check facts first, and then write, not the other way round. Nurg (talk)

Don't go too fast on the orthography of her name either. You've used two so far. There are numerous variations, so it may take time and discussion to figure out the best form. Nurg (talk) 23:29, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

yeah i saw the source updated how they were spelling it so i updated it with that, yeah we probably need a discussion to figure it out - i think there's inconsistency rising from waikato vs general maori spellings TheLoyalOrder (talk) 23:31, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's a number of factors. A) it's a complicated name (b) the issue of how to write the long vowels (c) Waikato orthography peculiarities (d) and more. Nurg (talk) 23:45, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was comfortable with the first form you used. It is used in an official announcement - https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1054686259361452&set=pcb.1054686282694783. Not that we necessarily use official names. Nurg (talk) 23:49, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And the Facebook announcement seems to be inconsistent about macrons and double vowels. This Spinoff piece is better with macrons, but can't settle on whether "Te" is capitalised or not. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 02:18, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Auckland Central in the 2020 New Zealand general election

[edit]

On 28 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Auckland Central in the 2020 New Zealand general election, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Chlöe Swarbrick won the race for Auckland Central in 2020, during which she held a drag show as a campaign event? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Auckland Central in the 2020 New Zealand general election. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Auckland Central in the 2020 New Zealand general election), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Thanks for letting me know about the infobox!

[edit]

I never really engaged in something like that, let alone know anything about the voting process, so it's good to know! Clammodest (talk) 05:07, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

yeah nah yeah, you haven't done anything wrong, its just several other people (me included haha) had the same idea and saw conflicting edits so I started a discussion on it, usually for articles that get less traffic its not a problem, cheers TheLoyalOrder (talk) 05:15, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
