User talk:Swaraag-Indo fusion band
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Swaraag-Indo fusion band, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Draft:Swaraag, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Again, welcome! — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:49, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
- I do welcome you to Wikipedia, but your first efforts here have run afoul of some important Wikipedia rules. The most important one has to do with copyright. If Wikipedia is found to be knowingly hosting copyrighted material, it could threaten the whole project's existence. Therefore, it is considered a violation for you to have uploaded the publicity photo of your band without going through the right procedures. I'm going to initiate a deletion process and you should be informed along the way about your options. The main two options are to a) release the photo under a Creative Commons license that allows very broad re-use, in which case it would need to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons rather than to English Wikipedia and b) wait until your article is accepted and add the photo with a non-free content fair-use justification.
- Next, about your username. Your username is the name of a group of people and is being used "promotionally". It violates our username policy and will have to be changed. The account can still refer to the band, but it must be clear that the account is for the use of a single individual.
- When you write about your own organization on Wikipedia, you have a conflict of interest which much be disclosed. Furthermore, if you are in some sense being paid to write the article on Wikipedia, you must further disclose your paid status.
- So, just to make everything normal, I'm going to paste some more messages here on your user talk page that give the standard language for each of these issues. The messages look formal and intimidating - I apologize for that - but the wording and links in the messages have been widely agreed upon and, if you follow the instructions in them, the best way to stay within the rules. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:00, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
Your username
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Draft:Swaraag, and I noticed that your username, "Swaraag-Indo fusion band", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:01, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Swaraag-Indo fusion band. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Swaraag, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 08:02, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
