Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Arthashastra does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 09:52, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Duly noted. All of my edits from here on will have the appropriate "Edit summary". Thank you for bringing this to my attention! Svabhiman (talk) 10:22, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Afro-Asian (African Asian), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Creole. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi Svabhiman, I know that you have been writing edit summaries, but you missed one out here. Since you deleted sourced content, it is necessary to explain your reasons. Can you do a WP:null edit or write an explanation on the article talk page? Cheers, Kautilya3 (talk) 12:43, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop attacking other editors, as you did on National Socialist Council of Nagaland. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Helmut von Moltke (talk) 17:48, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Helmut, looking back I can understand how my wording may have come off as an "attack" on another editor. That said, please understand that the group for which the article forms the main subject is a proscribed terrorist organization by the Government of India (a government which I do NOT represent) and that the neutrality of any discussion of that State's sovereignty has very deep implications, far deeper than your opinion of editorial etiquette. A neutral presentation on Wikipedia of such an organization must conform to norms of presentation for articles concerning similar such legally-proscribed organizations by various other States (ex. the Government of Israel, the European Union or the United States). I view ANY failure to present the State consensus of the Republic of India regarding such hostile organizations to be a prima facie instance of non-neutrality and I will not apologize for corrective changes I have made (and will continue to make) when such articles fail to conform to the established precedent of Wikipedia articles belonging to that same "class". This is the spirit of my commitment to becoming a better editor of articles in the "India category" (which, by the way, are notorious for poor editing). My only objection was directed against what I perceived to be as the non-neutral wording of an editor(s). No "personal attack" was intended and I apologize only to that particular editor(s) if my own editorial remarks gave him/her/them an impression of hostility.
