Hello, Superqwertyboy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Mick James, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.
There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Mick James has been reverted. Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.myspace.com/mmarinomusic/photos/50228813#{"ImageId":50228813}. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. I created a page for a friend of mine "Mick james". It was flagged for deletion due to lack of references, I found himat IMDb and a life magazine source and it was deleted anyway, was it the format? this is my first page -SCOTT
Hi there.
When you leave messages, please remember to "sign" your name, by putting ~~~~ (four tilde signs) at the end. This will add your name, and the date and time. You can also do this by clicking the 'sign' button, pictured to the right.
Firstly - most important - it is a bad idea to write about your friend, because of the conflict of interest.
Secondly, for an article to be accepted, it needs to show significant coverage in independent reliable sources. IMDB is not a reliable source, and a single magazine mention would not be enough. Please see WP:VRS and for more detail, WP:BIO.
If you could tell us, for example, 3 newspaper articles about this person, then they would probably satisfy the notability guidelines.
Thank you, He's not really a "Friend", He's a local musician who asked me to help him with this. Thank you for responding, I'll keep trying :) Superqwertyboy (talk) 17:02, 28 February 2011 (UTC)superqwertyboy[reply]
Good luck. My advice is: edit some other articles first. Get the hang of things; you'll soon get to know how Wikipedia works.
I'm not sure if this local musician will pass the notability guideline - to be honest, I doubt it. You really need to demonstrate "significant coverage" in "reliable sources". For example, if there were 3 or more newspaper / magazine articles about this person (and not just some mentions in a local paper).
Whether or not you can, in some time, write an 'acceptable' article about Mr. James, I don't know; but you'll have a much better chance if you work in other areas first. And if you help people out, you'll get to know them, and they'll help you in return. Best of luck, Chzz ► 17:52, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
