Howdy Myers, List of college men's lacrosse coaches with 250 wins
[edit]Strikehold, I been working on Howdy Myers and noticed that he isn't list on List of college men's lacrosse coaches with 250 wins. The NCAA record book credits him with 239 wins, but career statistics database shows another 22 wins with Hampden–Sydney. Was Hampden–Sydney NCAA varsity-level in those years? Thanks. Jweiss11 (talk) 17:38, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to this, but it is my feeling that the NCAA record book is probably wrong. I've found other mistakes in those lists. I think you should add Myers to the article with his H-S records. Strikehold (talk) 01:57, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Project banners and persondata
[edit]Strikehold, can I ask you to make a couple little adjustments to your SOP for new articles? Take a look at my edits on William W. If there are more than three projects banners, there should be a WikiProjectBannerShell wrapper. Thanks. Jweiss11 (talk) 22:24, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Alex Agase.jpeg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Alex Agase.jpeg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Bob Pellegrini.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Bob Pellegrini.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 22:54, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Survey: use of Chronicling America on Wikipedia
[edit]Strikehold:
My name is Donald Taylor and I'm the Wikipedian-in-Residence with the University of Maryland Libraries, Historic Maryland Newspapers Project. The Historic Maryland Newspapers Project is a part of the National Digital Newspaper Program, a joint program of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities. We are digitizing historic state newspapers for inclusion in the Library of Congress's Chronicling America online digital collection of America’s historical newspapers.
We are conducting a survey of Wikipedia contributors who have cited Chronicling America as a reference in their edits to Wikipedia. It is the objective of our study to identify ways that Chronicling America might be made a better resource for people editing Wikipedia. We recently used Linkypedia to identify contributors who have used Chronicling America. As an editor who has made use of Chronicling America, we hope that you will take our survey.
If you are interested in taking our survey, you can do so at this website.
More information about the survey is provided before you begin answering survey questions. Participation in the survey is strictly voluntary. It should take you less than thirty minutes to complete. You must be at least 18 years old to participate. If you have any questions about this survey, you can contact Donald Taylor, Wikipedian-in-Residence for the Historic Maryland Newspapers Project, at dwtii@umd.edu, or Elizabeth Caringola, Historic Maryland Newspapers Project Librarian, at ecaringo@umd.edu.
If you decide to take this survey, please do so within a week, by Wednesday, 31 July 2014.
Thank you for your contribution to our study.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Harold W. Hobbs
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Harold W. Hobbs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Gbawden (talk) 12:14, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Problem with Tom Cosgrove (American football)
[edit]Hello. I realize you have have been off Wikipedia for more than a decade, nevertheless I am going to bring this up here. An article that you created in 2009 (your last stable version at time of creation: http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Tom_Cosgrove_(American_football)&oldid=264892341 ) has information so wrong that I am trying to wrap my head around how it can be anything but a hoax. Please dissuade me of that notion if I am incorrect. Although definitely drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 1952 NFL draft, I can find no indication in any Baltimore Colts media guide or in The NFL's Official Encyclopedic History of Football that Cosgrove ever played for the Colts. Nor have I located any information confirming that he was ever on a Browns roster, either from the aforementioned league encyclopedia or from Pro Football Reference.
Most of the links have gone 404 by now and I don't know what to believe at all. I will probably toss out everything and take it from scratch since the article subject appears notable as a college football player alone.
Again, I apologize if I am off-base on this, it might be that one or more of your 404 sources is full of somebody's errors and BS and that you accidentally imported errors of fact. Please do explain how something as major as a trade from a pro football team to another pro football team leaving no records of ever having been on either team can be possible. Thanks, —tim //// Carrite (talk) 16:56, 8 February 2024 (UTC)
- My apologies, very clearly you were the unintentional carrier in a Garbage In, Garbage Out situation. Cosgrove was drafted by the Browns in Jan. 1952, went back to school at Maryland and played there in the fall of 1952, apparently had his contract traded to the Colts, went to training camp with the Colts in July 1953, and was cut by the Colts at their last cut in Sept. 1953. He never played a regular season down for either team, thus never shows up on an official roster. I did find him listed in the 1953 Colts media guide in the preseason roster. Ciao.
