UEFA Champions League/European Cup

[edit]

Hi there - your efforts in adding Champions League results to Wikipedia is really appreciated. However, as the competition was known as the "European Cup" (or more properly, the "European Champion Clubs' Cup") before 1992, any articles about tournaments before that date should be titled with that name (e.g. European Cup 1955-56, not UEFA Champions League 1955-56), otherwise it's a bit of an anachronism. Arsenal

[edit]

Hi - just a quick tip - when you want to wikilink to Arsenal Football Club, please link to Arsenal F.C. (which is about the club) rather than Arsenal (which is about arsenals in general). Ta. Qwghlm 15:50, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mistakes in Results

[edit]

You are really doing a good job and is appreciated. However, there are some mistakes at the results (I have corrected some). For example, about 1970-71 you wrote that the cypriot team Alki Larnaca played in the european cup, however it was not Alki (which was never Cyprus Champions) but EPA Larnaca. I don't know from where you are reading the results because there are mistakes.

Also, for Yugoslavian teams (even if the club is Bosnian) you are putting the Serbian flag. I advise you to put the Yugoslavian, since the teams represented Yugoslavia. Good work on the European Cups pages btw, the articles look great.

And something last. As it was said by Qwghlm, there are mistakes in linking and not just by arsenal. For example Ujpest TE is in the article Ujpest FC. Search about the club, where it has article before you link.

Congratulations for your good articles-despite the mistakes User:KRBN

Your addition of a copyrighted fair-use image to Eve Myles has been reverted because you did not add a detailed fair-use rationale but anyway, the image fails WP:FUC. --Yamla 14:29, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, seeing you are interested in football this is an invitation to contribute to this discussion to clarify certain issues about football player notability. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Ssago.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ssago.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 00:19, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Whitebreadbrownbeer.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Whitebreadbrownbeer.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:55, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Atriptomarineville.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Atriptomarineville.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Thanks for uploading Image:Bestofallabouteve.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on National Forest (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
