Self-righteous Asshole
I called you a self-righteous asshole because you are one. I immediately reverted it, but you'll never pass up a chance to harrass other people. I've never seen you be nice at all to Bushytails, but you're willing to get all snippy about how nice you've been. You only give two chances; as a Christian, aren't you supposed to give seventy-seven chances? --Prosfilaes 03:03, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- No, to be precise it is actually 38.46785 chances. But what they hey, I'm not good with math! I also noticed that you deleted my post on you talk page. Unless it is rude &/or vulgar etc, you cannot touch it, as stated in the wikipedia rules. Believe me, I've done the same a few times before as well, & been put in my place too. Contact Wiglaf for more information, as he knows more about the rules than me.
- I'm not agreeing with you, but so what if he is? That still doesn't make it right for you to come and insult him on his talk page. It is also a CLEAR violation of Wikipedia:Civility, Wikipedia:No personal attacks, Wikipedia:Staying cool when the editing gets hot, Wikipedia:Assume good faith and Meta:Don't be a dick. It also undermines any claim to "moral" superiority you may have.--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 22:38, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- On note to me "but you'll never pass up a chance to harrass other people", this is not true. I am infact a calmer wikipedian, although I do have my CRAZY moments in all due time. I left the message on your talk page asking why you had called me a self-righteous asshole. I did not get angry nor use an acusing tone. The relationship, or lack there of due to arguments, with Bushytails is of our concern, & although you have a right to your opinion, it only impedes or hampers the reconciliation process. I have infact been nice to Bushytails, going as far as making amends & presenting him with a barnstar. I'm not sure the word snippy is the right one, but yes I was slightly annoyed that Bushytails spurned, if you will, my efforts to make peace. I just hope you wont post anymore argumentative or rude posts on anyone else's talk page, as this is an encyclopedia, & some of us just want to get on with making it a good one. Hope this clears or resolves anything? Spawn Man 21:28, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's my talk page; I can delete things as I will.
It's funny that I posted a rude comment on your talk page, and immediately thought better of it, but you responded with an argumentive post on my talk page, and replied with another argumentative post on my talk page threatening action against me.I just want to be left alone.--Prosfilaes 21:48, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- It's my talk page; I can delete things as I will.
- Really, I just want to let this lie. I'm sorry for my sometimes uncivil behavior in deal with you and would like it to be over.--Prosfilaes 22:04, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- In any case, you're wrong; [[1]] says "Actively erasing personal messages without replying (if a reply would be appropriate or polite) will probably be interpreted as hostile" which implies that I would have been in the clear to just delete it without response; but you got one, so you should have no complaint.--Prosfilaes 21:51, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Italics
Greetings Spawn Man! I've noticed that you have again removed the italics from Aegyptosaurus (nice article :o). Now it is of course debatable whether in non-scientific publications one should apply the rule that all genus names are written in italics; but don't you agree that for an encyclopedia, being by nature a more formal medium of communication, it best to conform to the scientific standard? ~:o\--MWAK 07:22, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- It could be discussed at length, a discussion I've had many times. The italics are not needed, as the italics are used to describe the scientific name, of which, the tree of life project says we don't need to refer to after the immediate introduction. It would be possible to leave the italics on all the way through, but the project guidelines suggests that only one italic name is needed. EG: Amosaurus blahblahis, meaning "sand lizard", is a dinosaur. Ammosaurus eats food. Ammosaurus likes rocks.
- After the first introduction, neither the full scientific name nor the italics are needed. Hope that helps a bit, at all? Regards, Spawn Man 21:06, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, but the question is not whether it is needed, but whether it should be preferable for an encyclopedia to do it anyway, just as most scientific literature in fact does. The commendable, but generally sadly failing, Tree of Life project does not constitute a standard in the field.--MWAK 09:37, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
Re: Freinds
Ummm....Alright the first thing that I want to say is that I don't think that you can ever be friends from talking over the internet. I hope you don't take this offensively, but I don't ever want to meet a person that I talk to over the internet, because in my opinion that person can be lying to me about his gender, age, or anything. So I am going to say I don't want to be friends in the nicest way possible, because I think it's sort of strange. I'll help you out on wikipedia and I hope you'll do the same, but friends is a little to deep for internet, so no. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 23:47, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Personal attacks and other nasty things
I've cautioned Prosfilaes against making personal attacks; he seems to regret his actions (he offered an apology, of sorts, above, if I'm not mistaken).
As far as your other point, there isn't, to the best of my knowledge, a blanket policy against removing comments from your user talk page. Certainly, changing another user's comments qualifies as vandalism, removing comments without responding to them is incivil, and removing certain official warnings (vandalism templates and so forth) is evidence of bad faith, but there's no complete ban. Obviously, selectively removing criticism is in poor taste, at best, but isn't necessarily a policy violation.
I'll offer this piece of (unasked-for, but hopefully not completely unwelcome) advice: Prosfilaes has apoligized and seems to want to let this matter drop. It's not worth your time, in my opinion, to pursue this (somewhat overblown, actually) incident further; if he wishes to remove your comments, it's a reflection on his character, not yours. I think that it would be a very noble gesture on your part to let the matter rest withoug further comment.
Hopefully this whole incident hasn't ruined your usual good cheer too much, though! If you're bored and looking for something to do, you can always comment on the warbox design ;-)
Best regards, Kirill Lokshin 02:03, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- I totally understand where he's coming from; see my first archive!! I did the same thing, but learnt from it. I just wanted to point out to him that some people might find this behaviour unacceptable. I didn't find it all too bad, it's like water off a duck's back with me. It was only when he deleted my posts, as you said above, that I left a couple of messages. After that it kinda snowballed I guess. I know how he feels though. So I'm not annoyed, angry or vindictive in anyway: Just curious. Where did he get that Christians give 77 chances? *Laughs Merrily*.... Anyhoe.... Spawn Man 02:10, 3 November 2005 (UTC) ....Will check out warbox.
- Hey Spawn Man, I'm not much of a Bible reader, but I actually remember this one: (though I have to look it up) It's Matt. 18:21, Peter asked "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me?" "Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times seven." So that'd be 539 times for the literalists... ;) Dforest 12:39, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi there. I noticed that you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Viruses. The project has been marked as inactive, and it never really took off after I tried to start it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to devote too much time to Wikipedia after entering Grade 12 (it's become more important for me to focus on schoolwork). So if you're up to reviving the project, then you may want to remove the inactive notice at the top. I'll help as much as I can in my limited time.
Sincerely,

Boston, Massachusetts - a question
I see that you have problems with the article. However, I need specifics to work with since your explanations are unfortunately not very clear. To me, an opinion is not valid if there are no solid facts to back it up. Thanks. Pentawing 04:06, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
- I feel that we have need to figure out what the proper summary style is. Nichalp has been quite adament about it, but now I am unsure what to do next (you want more added to the article while Nichalp objects to articles that are far larger than 35 kB to 40 kB). I would appreciate you take on the issue on my talk page. Thanks. Pentawing 23:04, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Creationism in Dinosaurs
Although I'm not the one who first suggested the inclusion of creationism in the Dinosaur article, I agree that there should be some mention of it, if at most a sentence, upon which the reader can be redirected to the creationism article. For more information about Glen Rose, Texas hoax (aka Glen Rose man) see here ([3], [4] and many more). In case you don't know, creationist believe man existed during the time of the dinosaurs (like the Flinstones). Supposedly there was a 70 million year old giant human footprint that "proved" man existed with the dinosaurs. However, it's been refuted by evolutionists and even most creationists now. I'm actually surprised there isn't an article about it. BTW, I'm not a creationist at all. Gflores Talk 23:51, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- A few more pages of interest. Young_Earth_creationism#The_teaching_of_Genesis, Carl_Baugh, and Creation-evolution_controversy#Evidence_against_evolution. I will probably expand some of the information out there about this particular controversy. Gflores Talk 23:56, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Neither, I call it a bunch of holy boloney. I'm a Christian & I don't believe it. But it really creates a divide down the religion; are gays good or evil, were dinosaurs alive with man or not, evolution or not, etc etc. People just end up getting excluded, & it's wrong. We should really be focussed on including & moving forward. Plus it's very hard to refute the scientific findings. But they still come up with excuses that it's wrong, like the equiptment stuffed up or something. They can't accept it. And if you say different, you probably get excluded.
- I will see what I can do, as although I don't believe in it, I can be neutral when I need to be... Spawn Man 00:02, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
- I've looked at the Glen Rose sites. Although it is interesting, there are many hoaxes out there, & this is no different. If we were to put all the dinosaur hoaxes on the page, even the most reknown ones, the page would double in size. I don't think this adds to the article, but you or someone else could easily create an article titled the hoaxes of Glen rose, or along those lines. However, I will try & add a creationism section, although I don't know how much help I'll be as I'm still getting my head around their "different" concepts... Spawn Man 00:20, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
ToC
I'm guessing it was to do with Dinosaurs. "Granulated Toc" is nothing but an ugly Table of Contents. The ToC should have minimal headings (~ <15-18). Use of subheadings should be avoided to a large extent unless absolutely necessary. If you have to use subheadings, there should be a minimum of 2 subheadings under a heading. To justify a heading, it should have a minimum of two decent sized paragraphs. PS. Thanks for the b'day wishes. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 04:24, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
KKK, thanks, Spawn Man 04:26, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Dinosaur collaboration
Yes, let's. Do you have any suggested articles? It would be awesome to elevate one of the better-known dinosaurs to FA or near-FA level, as with Tyrannosaurus. Alternatively I'm making my way through Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs/missing, making at least stubs and, wherever information allows, short articles. If you want to chip in with that then I'd be hugely grateful. Soo 00:57, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm starting off at "A". I've done a couple of articles so far. Check out my user page to see them. I'm really busy with Dinosaur right now, so everything else is on hold. Spawn Man 01:00, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Citing: no, not quite. Create footnotes and then cite sources from there. For broader sources, put them at the bottom with no footnote as they apply to the whole document. Also: you've worked really hard on this article so I have a special something for you...

Difference listings
I'm not sure if you saw my last input about difference listings at User talk:Jimbo Wales before it was archived:
- It looks like this is not a systemic problem, but rather something specific to you. So maybe the thing to do is for you to create a personal css, in which you could define class:diffchange to look as distinctive as you want. I have not done it for myself; so I am no expert. But I think the explanation of how to do it is at Help:User style. That page tells you where to create the css file, depending on your user 'skin'. I think putting something like "span.diffchange { text-decoration:underline; }" in it would underline the differences. --teb728 00:14, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I will chase up some more info tonight- but the couple I've been trough didn't seem to have further scholarly papers. If you need to link two in text notes to one reference, take a look at the Canberra article there is a template for exactly that purpose.--nixie 04:17, 15 December 2005 (UTC)

Editing other's FAC comments
Hi Spawn Man!
Monicasdude is right when he says you shouldn't edit his comments, nor strike out his objections. I know you were just trying your best to keep the FAC organized, but just like in any talk or discussion page, it's almost always best to leave other people's comments alone. Taking it upon yourself to strike the objections is particularly problematic. If you think an objection is met, leave a note right under it; if the objection's author hasn't made any more comment on the matter by the time Raul654 gets around to judging whether the FAC should pass, he'll take that into account. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 04:28, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

gastroliths
Gastroliths were mentioned in passing in one of "the birds are dinosaurs and here's the evidence" links I've placed at Dinosaur. I googled "gastroliths" and found the data was everywhere and qualified as a well known undisputed fact, so I didn't bother to source it when I placed the data there. Yesterday, I followed up on your message , discovered someone was questioning it, and so I bothered to google it again and placed a source. Well known undisputed facts don't need sources, but its easier to supply one than to argue about it. WAS 4.250 16:31, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- Huh? Maybe I'm a bit retarded, but I didn't get one word of that? If you're talking about me deleting the gastrolith link, then I'm really sorry but I've gotten nothing but hell for that sort of thing. We need a written dource of the info, such as a magazine, an encylopedia or a paper, not an internet site. If you have a written source, please leave it here, otherwise an internet link cannot be accepted... Spawn Man 22:57, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

- Well excuse me! I said, "are you calling me retarded?" How is that hate speech? It's my problem if I feel picked on by you. I don't think I targeted any group of people & I am not ashamed of asking if you called me retarded. Besides, retarded has many terms, as in idiotic, stupid, bad, silly, incapable, etc etc. I would never ever call a mentally disabled person a retard! And how dare you accuse me of that! I was simply stating that I felt you were making me feel like one. If anything, you were more targeted than the group you said I was. Stay away from me, I hate people like you. You just can't be nice! And don't think I don't know it was you who wrote "Spawn man sucks" on the dinosaur's edit summary.... Good day, I have some celebrating to do over the recently featured article, Dinosaur... I do not wish there to be any hard feelings, just basically, you get on my nerves. Spawn Man 00:53, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- You should be even more ashamed of your behavior now, since you're making ridiculously dishonest claims and defending your inexcusable conduct. Monicasdude 01:04, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- I was simply speculating that it could & possibly was you. Who else would write that, everyone else likes me... Well I hope they do... And although the discussion may have gotten a bit froathy, I never ever insulted mentally disabled persons. As per above, leave me alone, I didn't insult anyone but you, we both got what we wanted, etc etc. Let me enjoy Christmas, oh wait I can't say that, it might offend non-christians. Well, peace out then, oh wait can't say that, might offend anarchists. Well see ya, oh wait can't say that either, might offend literalists who know I won't actually see you. Bye; too exclusionist! Goodbye; too inclusionist! Goodnight; It might be day where you are. Goodmorning; might be night!! See what I mean, what ever I say is offensive to you. Just because I use the word retarde, doesn't mean I used it to hurt mentally disabled persons..... Spawn Man 01:13, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- Plus I noticed you deleted my post with this edit summary... "deleted content-free comment by adolescent". I think your lack of regard for Wikipedia's civility policy is evident, and you should be ashamed of your behavior! Picking on a person for his/her age without knowing fully what their real age is is contemptable! Don't attempt to defend your ridiculously dishonest claims and defend your inexcusable conduct. :) Spawn Man 01:21, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- All that having been said, I think it's time to stop yelling. Everyone should try to be more civil, regardless of the circumstances. —Kirill Lokshin 01:24, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
Civility and such
For what it's worth, I don't think it's useful to think of anyone here as your enemy :-)
This whole mess is really just a simple misunderstanding that's been blown terribly out of proportion by everyone deciding to shoot first and ask questions later. Hopefully it'll defuse itself now; if it doesn't, apologies all around might help.
You might dislike me for saying this, but you really should take extra care to be civil in every situation (even when you're stressed and they're getting to you). You definitely don't want to get pulled into the meat grinder ;-) —Kirill Lokshin 02:04, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- I could use a good grinding... ;) Thanks buddy.... Spawn Man 02:25, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- For the record, two days ago one of the article's supporters, who Spawn Man had thanked for discussing improvements with him, described the article (on the FAC talk page) as a "tremendous piece of work for a fourteen year old," alluding to Spawn Man as the principal revisor. Since it stood without correction, I hardly think it was unreasonable to believe that the comment was accurate. Monicasdude 02:49, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- Judging from your talk page, it seems Spawn is not the only one here in need of a civility lesson. If your Phallic behaviour continues (and yes I'm typing at YOU, Moni) then perhaps a Rfc is in order. If so, I think we would have no trouble finding plenty who would sign on against you...Then next stop-MEAT GRINDER.--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 09:53, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- Grind me! Grind me! Grind me! :) Spawn Man 00:55, 20 December 2005 (UTC) BTW, I am now totally insane.....

Merry Christmas
I would like to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I appreciate the contribution you've made here.
David Rudder once sang "Not one name, one name will I call/ Because to name a few would make the others seem small". I didn't think of that problem when I started saying Merry Christmas to people at random, on the morning of the day that I was supposed to be packing for a trip... OK, maybe I should have thought ;) Guettarda 14:34, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- I wish you a merry Christmas & a less crappy (than last year's) New Year. Ho Ho Ho! Spawn Man 02:16, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Thank you
Thanks to you to a large extent, dino will be front page first of the year. Congrats. But the article as is, was chosen, not the article as it might be remade by someone between now and then. For just these few days, at the very least, let's keep it as is, ok? thanks WAS 4.250 07:39, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
The title I put is okay? I've asked the guy to put that on the Dinosaur's opening, so it doesn't matter if it changes slightly. Thanks, Spawn Man 07:54, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Congraulations! Having TFA on New Years' definitely a great honour! =) - Mailer Diablo 17:23, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree! You deserve every pixel of that barnstar I gave you.--HereToHelp (talk) 00:35, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi - thanks for the message. Sorry, was not around to deal with your requested tweak to the Dinosaur TFA text - I hope someone did it for you? -- ALoan (Talk) 23:13, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
- No problemo. It was minor anyway, so thanks anyway. Spawn Man 23:21, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
Congrats and Hello
Congratulations, all your hard work on dinosaur paid off at last! A really excellent article and one for Wikipedia to be proud of. I wondered if I could interest you in making more of a contribution to the Dinosaur Wikiproject? I'm trying to get at least stubs for the dinosaurs on Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs/missing, and decent articles wherever possible. If you feel like you haven't had enough of dinosaurs yet, it would be excellent to see you there. Soo 03:22, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the offer. I'll get back into dinosaurs soon, but for now I'm taking a load off & working on other articles. So far I've gone from war articles, to dinosaur articles & now I'm on to something else. Thanks, Spawn Man 04:05, 3 January 2006 (UTC). P.S. To say the truth, I think the Dinosaur article sucks compared to other FAs. That's just my opinion....
