busy i believe. it is a good decision on Chennai article. --CarTick 11:36, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, been a bit busy (vacation) and have a day of "internet" life before I go off grid again. How're things on the active side of WP? cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 14:28, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
I am not very active either. guess will be like this for a while. --CarTick 02:03, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

NSW cricketer photo poll

Right, I've set it up. I made some adjustments to my technique, so hopefully it's better. Many thanks again YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 09:06, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Am back online now, so I'll opine this weekend. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 09:21, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Fatboy out! YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 04:35, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Either I'm too sleepy or completely out of it now (I've hardly read any newspapers or watched TV in two months) so I'm completely missing your ref. —SpacemanSpiff 04:41, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Yuvi -> Raina YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 04:42, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Ah yes, I hadn't associated that term with Yuvi. He's in pretty bad spirits now I guess. —SpacemanSpiff 04:44, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Taare Zameen Par

Hello. Classicfilms and I recently overhauled the article for Taare Zameen Par. He mentioned that you were a friend and were in the Indian Cinema wikiproject, so I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a look at the article for any concerns or possibilities of improvement? Thanks. Ωphois 04:12, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I will take a look at it this week, I'm just getting back up to speed on WP after a break. (BTW, I think Classicfilms is a "she".) cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:34, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Abhishek Nayar - Handsome.

Its surprising, that http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Abhishek_Nayar has the following "Tall, broad shouldered and handsome".

a) He is not really tall. b) Broad shouldered? c) Handsome?

If these relative, useless descriptions can be used, why not "bold" and "strong"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.171.246.146 (talk) 16:31, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

They have been removed, but that doesn't justify your earlier additions (which would have resulted in a block if any admin had seen it earlier). —SpacemanSpiff 16:34, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I apologise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.171.247.46 (talk) 02:23, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for getting rid of this idiot. Could you help clear up th residue of his latest outburst: File:Estacion santos imigrantes.jpeg, which has a copyright mark on it but he claims as his own work, and File:Guayaquil Subway map.PNG which is an act of pure fiction: a tube map for a city with no metro system. Kevin McE (talk) 19:09, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I've deleted the station image; since you opened an FfD for the map before I could delete it, I'm leaving it on (just opined on the FfD) and will let someone else delete it. Let me know if any of the IPs come back on the Ecuador pages. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 19:20, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Work!

A calming snack for a spaceman.

Hey Spiff, I got some work for you. Please look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Safwat Ghayur and see if that is a candidate for a speedy close. The subject has at least a half dozen valid references in his article, and the nomination (and ensuing discussion) is a mess (see also the contributors' talk pages for outing, ANI, etc.). I think the subject is notable beyond a doubt (and I did some cleanup) and this nomination can only get longer, more tedious, and more aggravating. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 14:31, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Don't think it's speedy close material - we've had more notables languishing at AfD longer than that :), it could be closed as SNOW after a few more opinions perhaps, but I think the heat might be worth it. Despite all the outing and related problems, I think the nomination isn't exactly blatant vandalism or disruption. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 14:44, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Spiff. Well, according to one participant the nomination is practically an act of terrorism/sacrilege! Later, Drmies (talk) 14:45, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Hey, do you mind looking at the article? Especially the first paragraph and a half of the biography section need work--there seem to be redundancies there, and a few things are unclear (the different jobs, for instance). Thanks, Drmies (talk) 18:20, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
I'll take a look tomorrow doc, I need to have some patience to read Dawn (newspaper) and The News International. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 18:35, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Haha, gotcha. I've offered you a snack; maybe that will help. Drmies (talk) 18:49, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Reddy

I followed your instructions and requested a move.Sorry for moving the page manually.:)-Raghavan(Talk) 15:32, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I didn't have much time then, so I didn't explain clearly, but this is not really a right move at this point, there's no article on the title right now, and if even f there were to be one, the caste appears to have primacy. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:51, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh Ok,Seems there is some consensus to move the page on the talk page now.I also have asked for Reddiar to be merged into Reddy since they are the same social group with only minor differences.-Raghavan(Talk) 05:03, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

re:Old Hindi films

Sorry, I'm not familiar with this film. Here is the guidelines from WPfilm: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(films)#Foreign-language_films Though I'm not sure how helpful they are.-Classicfilms (talk) 19:22, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Ok, thanks, that policy is one of the most confused ones on WP, so everyone has a different interpretation of that I guess. —SpacemanSpiff 19:53, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. I had similar issues with TZP as it is only known in the English-speaking world as "Like Stars on Earth" due to the release of the Disney DVD. Technically according to that link it should be under the English title but that makes no sense for anyone who really knows the film. I changed the article title for awhile with both titles as I just wasn't sure. I left the final decision to community consensus and it was changed back to TZP which is truthfully what makes the most sense to me. In the case of the film you introduce above I just don't know it well enough to respond but my sense would be that unless it had a worldwide release with the English title, you should keep the other one. -Classicfilms (talk) 16:15, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
I've never heard the English title used before (even in the US DVD), but apparently imdb has listed the movie under the English title; the movie however has been screened in the US under the original Hindi title with the English title in parenthesis. I'll start a move back discussion soon. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:44, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Anand on Twitter

You removed the Twitter account from Viswanathan Anand but I believe it is genuine, because I've seen it mentioned in an article on Chessbase. I've added the Chessbase article as a ref. It does look a little odd, but the Chessbase ref convinces me. Peter Ballard (talk) 12:45, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, saw that. It's definitely odd, but if Chessbase has it, then I guess it should be good for now. Looking at it again, I think it might just be that he's asked the publicist/management group to "run" his twitter instead of posting on his own. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 12:49, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Tamil performing arts

many of the statements lack citations and I am trying to remove them and add few citations. i particularly find that funeral "folk" song connection far fetched and irksome. would you mind substantiating your reverts here? cheers.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.254.170.175 (talk) 13:07, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

The statements you've been removing are sourced (we don't need to have a source at the end of each word), and none of your edits have any edit summaries. Discuss your reasons and justify removal of any text, on the article talk page and gain consensus before removing. —SpacemanSpiff 13:10, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

why drag in hindustani music into ancient tamil music?? and why bother comparing hindustani and carnatic in _tamil music_ article? enlighten us. plus comparing a classical music form to folk music has no basis and is wanton abuse: there is a reason why classical music is what it is. when u make extraordinary claims, I would be happy if u add citations just next to the claim... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.254.170.175 (talk) 13:18, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Bipasha Basu

Why are you removing my posts about Bipasha. They are all true posts. Also, why is her page so outdated. It needs to be updated regularly with proper details about her career. She is definitely one of the top actresses in Bollywood. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iyeasin (talkcontribs) 17:49, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Whatever I commented is correct. Then you post complete details about her career. PLease!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iyeasin (talkcontribs) 17:52, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Raikut

I have removed some un-encyclopedic content from the article. I think the version which present at Raja Prasanna Dev Raikut would be better. Thanks. Shovon (talk) 09:13, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

But at which title? It appears that the article was at Raikut and stable out there, and the content seems to be about that, not the specific king. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 09:15, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
The content which is at the Raja article, has been trimmed by me. Also, I was trying to move the article to Raikut, when I saw that you have already done so. If you could delete the Raikut article and then move Raja Prasanna Dev to Raikut, that'll be fine. Thanks. Shovon (talk) 10:21, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
The history has been merged and your latest clean up is the last revision now. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 12:45, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. · Andonic Contact 09:40, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Er, did you see what was reverted??—SpacemanSpiff 09:42, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I did, and I don't disagree with its removal; that being said, I'm going to AGF and say his contributions had good intentions, he simply doesn't know much about how wikpedia works (and he's probably foreign, too, hence the odd word choices/spelling which may have led you to assume it was vandalism). Technically you did break 3RR, though I apologize for impolitely slapping a template on your page, didn't notice you were a fairly experienced user. Just came out of semi-retirement so I haven't gotten a feel for who's been here for a long time yet. Cheers, · Andonic Contact 13:24, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, technically I'm foreign too, and I come across this kind of fan boy edits where referenced content is removed on every Indian actor's article, so it isn't the English that got me off, it's the removal of a reference and changing things like mainstream actress to top tier actress happens on every such article (just look at the Bollywood actors category article histories), that quite a few of them are on indefinite semi-protection. As for discussion, it's happened on my talk page and his, but he was more keen on adding the content than actually reading anything. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 13:46, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay then. Feel free to unprotect the page at your discretion, I'll default to your judgement. · Andonic Contact 14:55, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
No worries on that, one less page to monitor for a couple of weeks. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 02:27, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Ha ha, I come back yearning for some on wiki fun after a few days and this is what I got. Nothing really worth emailing, just some juvenile crap [pun unintended]. Shall I nom you? You might have better success if RP does the honors though (I think he's still watching this page). Whoo, that'll be nice--"I want to be an admin so I can see redacted s**t!" RP, haven't seen you in a while--hope you're doing well. I always hoped CoM would nominate me, but that's not likely to happen in the next year, starting the new count today. Fool... :( Drmies (talk) 23:04, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, just saw his talk page now to figure out what you were talking about, skipped me when I looked at my watchlist yesterday. I'm guessing RP doesn't pay much attention to my talk page these days, maybe I'll have to ping him on his TP about nomming you. BTW, can you take a look at Economy of India, it's an FA and a lot of cruft stuff has crept in over the past few months with no one watching over it. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 16:31, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi spacemanSpiff, thank you for reverting the changes made by someone who did not bother to log in, in fact this article is under attack from some people who are not ready to discuss the factual accuracy of the article, they would simply revert the article without giving any reason. If you have any knowledge about the topic, can you please give your opinion in the discussion going on in discussion page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jogibaba (talkcontribs) 18:49, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
