Please stop taging Template:Latest stable software release/Google Chrome for speedy deletion. It fails to meet the general or template-specific criteria for speedy deletion, and your speedy deletion proposal has already been rejected by User:Tivedshambo, a sysop. If you would like the template deleted, please use the prod template and do not blank the template. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:49, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Also, if you have a problem with latest stable software release and latest preview software release templates in general, please bring it up at Template talk:Infobox Software. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:58, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

We'll sort this out soon
[edit]I'm pretty confident of it. Please don't take my brashness too personally; if you stick around for a while and watch what kind of edits the Windows articles attracts, you'll understand the big mountain of crap we get shoveled and have to deal with. (I'm not implying anything about you here; I mean stuff like this, where it's pretty clear the editor didn't read the article before changing it). It's frustrating, because it takes time away from being able to write good new content and to improve the stuff we already have. The Windows 7 articles are going to be very popular next year... let's see how good we can make it! Warren -talk- 07:09, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hey... the new screenshot you provided is a good improvement... for the article itself, I've added a template parameter to {{Infobox OS version}} that lets us add extra notes about a preview release, and I updated Windows 7 to use that template with an explanation that build 6956 wasn't released, but was stolen and put online. I hope you'll agree that this can help us move towards ending the edit war. Warren -talk- 23:11, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and, there are some concerns that the resolution of the screenshot is too high. Do you think i'd be at all possible to get a new version of the screenshot made in 800x600 or 1024x768? Warren -talk- 23:15, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with File:AeroSnap.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:AeroSnap.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Windows 7 beta.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Windows 7 beta.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:19, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for File:WDDM1.1.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:WDDM1.1.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
