two articles for the same person
[edit]Happy new year 2016.
As from Curtius baronets I've seen that two article about the same person exist: Johann Heinrich Alsted latinized called Alstedius. To merge... it is already tricky at my German WP, nor I have knowledge about for English WP.... Whom I should contact? I asked already at Talk:Johann Heinrich Alsted / Talk:Alstedius. Many thanks. br's --Commander-pirx (talk) 16:07, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Hello! My plan for Curtius baronets is to move most of the content to a page dedicated to William Curtius (first baronet). The Curtius baronets page can then be about the family and the curti-schloss. But I'm only halfway through - am trying to translate some of the German sources, which is very slow work for me .
For Alstedius, I've responded to your comment on the talk page there. Somej (talk) 07:31, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Hi @Commander-pirx:, I've finally posted a new page for Sir William Curtius, and started to remove content from Curtius baronets. The new page is mostly based on a very slow translation of Grosskopf,[1] and Akkerman.[2]

SwisterTwister talk 08:42, 7 March 2017 (UTC)sister Anna Hoeufft and the Gressenich link
[edit]At Talk:Jean Hoeufft#Who_hit_who.3F you mentioned you arrived there via "his sister Anna, and the von Gressenich link". Can you please explain? I see no article for Anna Hoeufft or Pierre Fabrice de Gressenich. What about them led you to Jean Hoeufft? Mathglot (talk) 08:11, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi there, I was meaning outside of Wikipedia. Anna's daughter married another Protestant diplomat and (minor) financier to royalty, William Curtius ; possibly when Curtius was with the Palatine court in exile at the Hague. The Hoeufft surname led me to Jean Hoeufft. Somej (talk) 08:42, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, well even outside of WP, can you tell me where, is it written material we can use? Also, thanks for the Curtius baronets link; I see only one 'Anna' there, "Anna von Gressenich"—are you saying she's Jean's sister? That would be a good link to document, and if we can, I'd like to add a comment to the Curtius article, linking him to Jean Hoeufft as his brother-in-law. Mathglot (talk) 23:47, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- hi @Mathglot:Yes, Anna von Gressinich, née Hoeufft , was Jean's sister; Curtiius is her son in law . See http://www.lagis-hessen.de/de/subjects/idrec/sn/bio/id/8610, https://books.google.co.nz/books?id=qxoMAQAAMAAJ&lpg=PA372&ots=l1nfBV2Ha3&dq=johann%20martin%20du%20fay&pg=PA372#v=onepage&q=johann%20martin%20du%20fay&f=false, and my draft rewrites of Curtius' page Draft:Sir William Curtius#to Hesse. Somej (talk) 08:42, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Mathglot: I've published the Sir William Curtius page, and found a reference to Curti in the Dienne book to add to Jean Hoeufft Somej (talk) 08:12, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

The Queen of Bohemia
[edit]Hello Somej. I noticed this edit to WP:NCROY. Please see Talk:Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia for the extensive prior discussions on how to name the article for this person. And, Elisabeth of Bohemia (disambiguation) is a huge list, so that's hardly a distinctive name. Suggest you consider undoing your edit to the naming convention unless you can get a consensus. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 03:49, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- thanks EdJohnston (talk · contribs). Seeing as that all I have done is point the link directly to the main article, I won't make any further changes to Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(royalty_and_nobility). While it's ironic that the very page used as the example has since been changed (after, as you say, extensive prior discussion), I"m not picking sides in the argument about what the general naming convention should be.
- Probably it is a weakness in the guideline if it has to use a piped link as an example. Piped links are already discouraged for use in DAB pages (MOS:DABPIPE). Maybe the solution is to think of an example we could use in NCROY other than Elizabeth of Bohemia. Or, what would you think of changing the NCROY guideline to replace the piped link with its target, Elizabeth Stuart, Queen of Bohemia? EdJohnston (talk) 15:42, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
Dunedin Collective for Woman moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Dunedin Collective for Woman, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. CommanderWaterford (talk) 10:35, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
- Done. Very grateful @CommanderWaterford: if you could take a moment to review it again. Thanks! Somej (talk) 10:38, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Nadia Boulanger
[edit]I see you reverted my edits on this page. I made the edit because these musicians are not notable enough for the LEAD of the article - the list in the lead is already too long, and we can't keep adding in each editor's favourite musicians to it. Perhaps you could re-evaluate which of these musicians need be mentioned here, and which can remain either within the main body of the article, or in the longer list of Boulanger pupils? And it would be nice if the list in the lead could be alphabetical. Many thanks! pgbrown (talk) 10:20, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Links to draft articles
[edit]Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Jocelyn Harris. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 21:59, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
November Articles for creation backlog drive
[edit]Hello Somej:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
[edit]Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Klaus Fuchs - country of birth
[edit]Hi, I read the summary note of your edit in the Klaus Fuchs article. In 1911, the Grand Duchy of Hesse was not a sovereign state (anymore), as it had joined the federation of states that formed the Deutsches Reich (German Empire) in 1871. The German Empire of 1871 was a federal monarchy. The Grand Duchy, like other member states of the German Empire, was only granted very limited autonomy, which was mostly restricted to the cultural and social sector. The state also had to close its ministry of foreign affairs, as this had become the Reich's domain. Imho, it should either say "Rüsselsheim, Grand Duchy of Hesse, Germany", where then "Germany" should be linked to the article covering the German Empire, or just "Rüsselsheim, Germany". If you just mention (and link) the GD of Hesse, the readers will be (mis)led to think that the GD was a sovereign state at the time. GeeGee (talk) 15:10, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
