St. Michael's College
[edit]Thank you for your extensive work on St. Michael's College (Enniskillen). As St Michael's College was an exact duplicate, and as St. Michael's College was a disambiguation page, I took the liberty of redirecting the former to the latter. St. Michael's College (Enniskillen) is now linked from the disambiguation page at St. Michael's College along with other schools of the same name. Anyway, thanks again for your contributions, and happy editing! Pan Dan 02:01, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Tomás Cardinal Ó Fiaich. Please be careful not to remove content from Wikipedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Demiurge 17:49, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
I read through the welcome page before doing anything. The article on Cardinal Ó Fiaich was almost exclusively a piece of personal opinion. Almost no effort was made to support the claims made with any citation. I plan to do a major upgrade to this article, making it a more accurate biography of the man's life, with statements supported by credible, independent sources. Diocese of Down and Connor (Roman Catholic)

List of Roman Catholic dioceses
[edit]Socal - can you add "Ireland" to the names of the dioceses when you update the wikilinks, please? I've been contemplating reorganizing this list by country, but first it needs country names after all the diocese names, as well as about 3000 more dioceses. Argyriou (talk) 07:08, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Kells-Mellifont
[edit]Hi. I notice you have linked some of the dioceses to articles on the Roman Catholic sees. Not sure if this is appropriate, as the Church of Ireland dioceses also descend from those established at the Synod. We probably need an article on each diocese before the split (like Diocese of Ardagh, although it needs considerable rewriting). What do you think? Lozleader 10:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
You raise a good point. Ideally, an article on each diocese from its foundation would work best. I have been gathering materials on the subject and will write up some articles. So, to use Connor as an example. There would be an article on the Diocese of Connor, then a link to the Church of Ireland Diocese of Connor and one to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Down and Connor. This effort could be replicated for other diocese. My only concern is moving material that others have written; the whole thing sounds like a project, but I think it needs to be done. For example, when I was looking at the diocese of Clogher a few days ago, I found articles that linked the Catholic diocese to Church of Ireland personalities and vice versa. I guess that's what's called "ambiguity" on Wikipedia and therefore needs to be cleared up. Do you think a formal project on the topic makes sense? Socal90046 19:14, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know about a formal project. It would be a good idea to get one or two dioceses up to a good standard, with I suppose 2 or 3 articles (or more!) depending on their history (Pre reformation/RC/CoI). When that's done, it should be possible to use them as a template. Some of the dioceses don't need the denomination added. For instance the Diocese of Kerry is only a Catholic entity: the old dioceses and the CoI is Ardfert and Aghadoe. There probably needs to a judicial use of dablinks at the top of some pages, too, where they share a name. As far as moving other people's work around, that is all in the nature of Wikipedia (see WP:BOLD) Lozleader 20:01, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Clonfert
[edit]Regarding your recent move of List of Bishops of Clonfert to List of Bishops of Clonfert (Church of Ireland). Had you read the list you would have noticed that the page lists all people styled as bishops of Clonfert, regardless of whether they were pre-Reformation, Catholic or Church of Ireland.
In addition, I don't think it's valid to simply cut material from one article Diocese of Clonfert (which I contributed mostly), and to paste it into a new article Diocese of Clonfert (Roman Catholic). For one thing, the history of the pre-Reformation diocese should remain at Diocese of Clonfert, with the post-Reformation histories going to there seperate articles. The pages are now a mess (there is plenty of CoI information in the new article you hastily created).--Damac 11:32, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the note. I was actually trying to bring some order to the process so I apologize for any disorder that I created. When I was reading articles and following links, I found links that made no sense. I do think it makes sense to have, say, three separate articles. Since the Reformation was a significant event, one could deal on the pre-reformation diocese; others could deal on the diocese after the Reformation.
I have re-read the listing of Bishops of Clonfert; it is a really useful article. That format is useful for all diocese. Socal90046 19:22, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Disambiguating links
[edit]You have twice now attempted to disambiguate the "red links" on the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso article. While this is normally a good thing, the pages to which you point the links do not exist either, and, in this case, links like Anthony Joseph Schuler are preferable to ones like Anthony Joseph Schuler (Roman Catholic Bishop). The qualification in () is only necessary if an article about a different Anthony Joseph Schuler already exists. Thank you. Salmar 15:57, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Empty establishments categories
[edit]Greetings. I've noticed that you've been creating a number of empty categories in the Category:Establishments by year category structure. Empty categories are not a good thing as they suggest to readers who see links to the categories that there will be information there (eg on the 1309 page). If the category is empty it is better left as a red link as this lets the reader know that there is nothing to see. If you want to carry on working with the establishments categories then please don't let me put you off. If you want to create a currently non-existant establishments category then just find an article to put in that category first. Thanks. Greenshed 21:11, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Diocesan College (Definition)
[edit]An editor has nominated Diocesan College (Definition), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Diocesan College (Definition) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dioceseofcloghernew.jpeg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Dioceseofcloghernew.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:16, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Crest saintmichaels.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Crest saintmichaels.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:22, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
No content in Category:845 establishments
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:845 establishments, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:845 establishments has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:845 establishments, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:806 establishments
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:806 establishments requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
