- Thank you! I’m really sorry for the inconvenience ^^ Slomzy0932 (talk) 22:07, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you change genres in pages without discussion or sources. NØ 16:59, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- I had just edited Olivia Rodrigo’s genres ! My sources are the New York Times, NME and even Wikipedia ! These are all of the genres her music incorporates I’m trying to help because she’s more than just “pop and rock”! Slomzy0932 (talk) 18:47, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Plus her songs are also obviously the genres that i had added! Examples as Deja vu is dream pop with its dreamy and nostalgic synth production, SOUR does have dream pop and indie rock instrumentation it’s not about the lyrics! Slomzy0932 (talk) 18:52, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- And of course good 4 u spans around the genre of indie rock and power pop as well! Its elements are quite literally audibly there! Slomzy0932 (talk) 18:53, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- The main genres are all that is needed. Subgenres are excessive to the infobox. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:55, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Oh but she’s more alternative pop than just pure pop is what I thought! So i get what you mean now ^^ Slomzy0932 (talk) 19:06, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- See Olivia Rodrigo § Songwriting and voice where the sub-genre details are described with references. The infobox just needs the basic classification. Geraldo Perez (talk) 19:25, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

- Also i do not know how to add to the music and lyrics section on the SOUR page. Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, is celebrated for its eclectic blend of genres, prominently featuring elements of pop, pop-punk, alternative rock, indie pop, dream pop, and indie rock influences
- The album’s instrumentation showcases a dynamic range, from energetic 1990s-inspired guitar rock to tender acoustic ballads driven by piano and fingerpicked guitars.
- The opening track, “Brutal,” exemplifies this diversity with its “angsty” and “uptempo” style, characterized by “thrashy” guitars and elements of indie rock.
- This genre-blending approach reflects Rodrigo’s intent to transcend traditional music boundaries, creating a “post-genre” record that coalesces various influences into a cohesive narrative of teenage angst and self discovery. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Olivia Rodrigo. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. MPFitz1968 (talk) 18:44, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

- Hello! I just wanted to inform you why I changed the genre from pop to alternative pop. I did this since GUTS is really diverse and GUTS isn’t just pure pop! Although there might be elements it’s definitely alternative pop! My sources are NME and New York Times. Slomzy0932 (talk) 20:23, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- I had edited GUTS to a “pop rock album with punk and grunge influences”! My source is billboard. Slomzy0932 (talk) 13:42, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- I had also added indie rock since The Times states that the album alternates "between heartfelt balladry and raucous indie rock". Slomzy0932 (talk) 15:41, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- If u haven’t read I did state my sources. Slomzy0932 (talk) 09:42, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
- I also just edited Olivia Rodrigo’s genres sourced by Spotify, BBC, and New York Times. Slomzy0932 (talk) 11:22, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- You need to add any sources supporting content to the article being edited. See WP:Citing sources for more. People will not come over to your talk page to find things out. In some cases, you could also make mention of content changes, and the reason for the changes, on the article's (not your) talk page, especially if those changes are controversial. Generally, the talk page should be used only after someone has reverted your edit. MPFitz1968 (talk) 12:04, 12 January 2025 (UTC)
- If you want to be unblocked, you should learn how to WP:Citing sources and explain your understanding to us. I don't think edit warring is the root cause here, just promise to cite sources and discuss! Kenneth Kho (talk) 07:55, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- I understand it’s just the “pop” in Olivia Rodrigo’s music is no where to be found it’s mostly indie/alternative pop! That was just my argument I didn’t mean any harm Slomzy0932 (talk) 14:02, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
