[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content (particularly if you change facts and figures) please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Elonka 04:59, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. 76.102.12.35 (talk) 04:40, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sinharib, you are making many very controversial changes to the Church of the East article, but without citing sources. Neither are you participating at the article's discussion change. If this behavior continues, you may risk having your account access blocked. Please, desist from these changes, and engage in discussion instead? Thanks, --Elonka 23:09, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Church of the East. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Elonka 23:58, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Problem here is that i am not disputing anything that is externally and impartially sourced.
Regarding the Church of The East, it is actually NOT Nestorian, and predates it, thats not my opinion, its fact.
You are edit warring
[edit]You are edit warring at Languages of Iraq. Your continued attempts at reinserting ridiculous and naive linguistic information may result in a block on your editing privileges. (Taivo (talk) 00:00, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
Try looking at the link, as opposed to dismissing it just because it comes from Assyrian website. Dismissing its valitity on that basis is tantamount to calling the Assyrian website liars.
Also, i mentioned Akkadian names still used, they ARE; Sargon, Sinharib, Dadashu, Naramsin etc
Akkadian and Neo-Aramaic
[edit]It's very simple. There is no evidence that any Akkadian words exist in Neo-Aramaic. You have not a single reliable source. You have a pro-Assyrian, highly POV website. That's not a reliable scientific source. (Taivo (talk) 00:36, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
Actually there IS evidence, instead of dismissing the link just because it is Assyrian, why not actually LOOK at it and check the words listed?
- You need to read Wikipedia's instructions on what constitutes a reliable source. That website is not a scientific source at all and I highly doubt that any linguist would buy the "evidence". (Taivo (talk) 00:54, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
Really? Well check out the studies done by prof Simo Parpola, and as i say, if you look at the words, you will see many are the same.
In addition, what is wrong with using the terms Assyrian and Mandic? The only two races in Iraq speaking Aramaic are Assyrians (aka Chalddo-Assyrians) and Mandeans, and the dialects are called Assyrian and Mandean by their speakers.
Just check the wording http://www.christiansofiraq.com/assyria1.html
Words such as Brotherhood, today we say Akhuta, in the past it was Akhutu.
As Aramaic gradually replaced Akkadian, it is natural that some Akkadian words were adopted into eastern Aramaic.
- Both Assyrian Neo-Aramaic and Mandaic are Neo-Aramaic varieties, but not the only ones. Chaldean Neo-Aramaic, for example, is another Neo-Aramaic variety of Iraq and that doesn't include the Jewish Neo-Aramaic varieties. The cover term for these Neo-Aramaic forms is "Neo-Aramaic". Since the article Languages of Iraq is about linguistics, it doesn't matter what the ethnic groups or religious groups call themselves. It's what the languages are and what linguists call them. You also don't have any scientific sources for the claim that Akkadian is found in modern Neo-Aramaic. (Taivo (talk) 01:06, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
- Actually, I just looked at the article again and both Mandaic and Assyrian Neo-Aramaic are listed separately in different places. You don't have an argument. (Taivo (talk) 01:11, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
They are "dialects" not seperate languages, much like the differing dialects of French. Also, the term "chaldean" is a modern term, applied to Assyriand who converted to Catholicism, it has no historical basis at all.
Jewish dialects are no longer spoken in Iraq, the only two dialects are those of the Assyrian (or Chaldo Assyrian) people, and some acknowledgement should be given to this, likewise Mandic, which is a recognised dialect.
Also, what "scientific" evidence is needed regarding Akkadian words in modern Assyrio-Aramaic, if the words are used, then they are used. And they clearly ARE used.
Very little study has been made into the relation between modern Assyrians and the ancient, except by Simo Parpola, who by the way is Finnish, not Assyrian.
Also, you deleted mention of names still used, when clearly, Akkadian personal names ARE still used.
regarding Sumerian, check the origins of the word Alcohol, it IS Sumerian, Guhlu.....Ancient Iraq by George Roux. The term Chaldean has only been added to that particular dialect over the last few hundred years, and by no means all its speakers are chaldean catholics. A better term for all the dialects still spoken in and around Iraq would be MAesopotamian Aramaic.
- Read WP:RS if you have any questions about what a reliable source is. In summary, the best sources are printed books by academic presses. The Akkadian/Assyrian Neo-Aramaic connection is WP:FRINGE and mentioning it violates WP:UNDUE, especially since there are no reliable sources that mention it. If you're going to mention Akkadian as a "Language of Iraq", then you also have to mention the Jewish Neo-Aramaic varieties as well. Chaldean Neo-Aramaic is a demonstrably different (and recognized) variety of Neo-Aramaic, just as Assyrian Neo-Aramaic and Mandaic are. If you are of the opinion that Chaldean Neo-Aramaic is not a recognized variety, then you are unfamiliar with the linguistic literature on Aramaic varieties. ISO 639-3 recognizes it quite clearly. And personal name usage doesn't count. If it did, then you could make an argument that Modern English preserves Ancient Hebrew because so many English names are John, Saul, Samuel, David, Sarah, Ruth, etc. Names mean very, very little. (Taivo (talk) 14:01, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
I didnt say ots not a recognised variety, i said theb term applied to it is misleading.
Regarding personal names, it is very different to comparing the use of "christian-hebraic" names worldwide to one specific group (chaldo-Assyrians) using Akkadian personal names, because Akkadian personal names are almost exclusively used by only one group of people.
Ive no problem with mentioning Jewish Aramaic at all, all i was trying to do is point out that the Aramaic dialects in Iraq today are spoken exclusively by two ethnic groups Assyrians (or Chaldo Assyrians as the Iraqi government clasifies them) and Mandeans. I dont see anything wrong with that really. Chaldo Assyrians speak a number of closely related dialects, Mandeans speak another.
Simo Parpola links the transfer from Akkadian to Eastern Aramaic to modern Assyrio-Chaldean Aramaic dialects in his works.
- "Chaldean Neo-Aramaic", "Assyrian Neo-Aramaic", and "Mandaic" are the recognized international standard names (ISO 639-3) for these three varieties of Neo-Aramaic. You're just going to have to live with that fact. And the fact that there is only one person who thinks there is a connection between Assyrian Neo-Aramaic and Akkadian is the very definition of a fringe theory and therefore subject to the restrictions of Wikipedia's policy on putting undue weight on a fringe theory. You really need to read Wikipedia's policies--WP:RS, WP:FRINGE, and WP:UNDUE. (Taivo (talk) 19:25, 22 February 2010 (UTC))
Well thats not just one person, its a respected Assyriologist, Assyrian writers and linguists say the same, but because they are Assyrian they for some reason dont count....thats like saying an Englishman cannot contribute regarding Shakespeare because he will doubtless be partial!
Also, where are the studies that refute the presence of Akkadian words in modern dialects of Aramaic?
regarding Mandic, i agree it should be listed seperately, i never said it shouldnt, its a distinct dialect spoken by a distinct ethno-religious group.
I also agree that there are various dialects of Assyrian-Chaldean Aramaic, my point is that having no mention of the fact that these dialects are spoken by a single ethnic group (the Assyrians, or Chaldo-Assyrians) can lead readers to believe that they are seperate peoples. Mentioning this can do no harm surely?
- This article is not about "ethnic groups", it is about languages. They are separate issues completely. If you want to list ethnic groups then go to the article "Ethnic groups of Iraq". And it is not required that the majority of scholars prove that a single scholar is wrong. The single scholar has obviously not been able to convince the majority of scholars of his position. You are having a hard time understanding the nature of science if you think that the majority must prove their point before treating the minority as a minority. You seem to be saying that since one person says, "I think this", then it is so. That's not the case in science. (Taivo (talk) 04:27, 23 February 2010 (UTC))
Actually, i do not have a hard time accepting the nature of science thanks! How do you know that the scholar has not convinced the majority? Where is the body of work that refutes those that link influence or continuation? If just 3 people argue a point, but no one produces a scholarly or scientific study that opposes it, then it IS the majority point.
- Actually, if one person produces a paper that everyone ignores because it is so fringe, then no need for a rebuttal is necessary. Once the majority of Aramaic scholars accept the alleged Akkadian connection, then you will have a point. Otherwise, it is WP:FRINGE and subject to the restrictions of WP:UNDUE. For example, neither the Akkadian chapter nor the Aramaic chapter of the 2004 Cambridge Encyclopedia of the World's Ancient Languages mentions any connection between the two whatsoever. If the leading scholars in those fields don't see fit to either mention or acknowledge a connection, then the scientific world has rejected the hypothesis. Speedy deletion nomination of Theresa Rassam
[edit]A tag has been placed on Theresa Rassam requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Reply from my talkpage
[edit]- Everything we say has to be attributable to another source, particularly if it is something controversial that other sources disagree with. If you have an on-topic source that argues Nimrod was completely fictional, as you stated your opinion on the talkpage, then we can certainly attribute that view per our policy along with the other views; for example: "According to the thesis of Dr. Joe Shmoe, Nimrod was purely fictional." Til Eulenspiegel (talk) 01:39, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Please stop using the 'minor edits' tick box for non-minor edits
[edit]Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Akkadian Empire, as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. and many other articles - use the M box only when making minor formatting changes, spelling, etc. You are adding text, changing text in a possibly pov manner, etc. You really have to stop this as it can mislead other editors into thinking you are only doing real minor edits Dougweller (talk) 05:54, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Harran
[edit]Thank you for your edits to that article, Sinharib. However, please do not link the same words over and over again, as that's entirely unnecessary and in fact detrimental. Words usually should be linked only once in articles, but perhaps a few times in long ones. It is particular unnecessary for you to link "Harran" in the Harran article itself. Please see WP:OVERLINK. SamEV (talk) 20:08, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Don't Link to Disambiguation Pages
[edit]You need to learn how to properly link in Wikipedia. You are continually using Assyrian as a link, but this only takes the reader to a disambiguation page. I've fixed a bunch of your incorrect links, but I'm not going to fix them all. Please learn to do this correctly. The correct page to link to is Assyrian people. You do this by typing "Assyrian people|Assyrian" between the brackets. (Taivo (talk) 15:45, 2 March 2010 (UTC))
You need to learn what a reliable source is as evidenced by the "sources" you used in this edit. Wikipedia cannot be a source for itself. A nationalist blog cannot be a source for Wikipedia. Read WP:RS thoroughly and you will learn what a reliable source is. Secondary, academic, peer-reviewed, published books and journals are the favored sources. As long as your edits rely on nationalist blogs and Wikipedia articles as sources, they will probably be automatically reverted by whoever sees them. (Taivo (talk) 16:12, 2 March 2010 (UTC))

Pityful
[edit]So you call Suraye who question your Assyrianist bias as racists and Arab nationalists? so that shows how out of touch you are Sinhareb. khon your kind are as bad as Arab nationalists yourself. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 13:55, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually I provided LINKS to STUDIES by NON Assyrian Historians! How the hell is that bias?
What exactly is your problem with the existance of Assyrians, you can call yourself what you want, its up to you. But just leave Assyrians alone. Actually the term "Syrian" derives FROM Assyrian originally, but who cares.
- All you're doing on here is pushing nationalist bias. A few 'studies' by Assyrophiles isn't a license to go on a historiographical rampage. Most of your editing is not referenced either, and inserting 'Assyrian' everywhere is undue and seen as disruptive. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 03:55, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Actually, they are "Assyriologists" not Assyriophiles....you give them the latter abusive name because their studies do ot fit in with your POV.
So, my adding that Assyria existed as such under the Achamaenids, Greeks, Parthians, Romans and Sassanids is a Historiographical rampage? How So?
My mentioning that Assyrians did not magically disappear with the Islamic conquest is a historiographical rampage? How so?
My mentioning that Assyrians exist to this day as a minority is a Historiographical rampage? How so?
Actually, i have provided links (and from NON ASSYRIANS) supporting all i have said.
You have provided nothing in the way of research, just flatly (and rather sarcastically) stated that Assyrians dont exist, and are an invention. Yoy label yourself a Suraye, and i think your real problem is that other Aramaic speaking Christians do not share your self designation, and that is where the Nationalist Bias comes in.
The absolute CRAP that goes on between Assyrian-Syriac-Aramaic-Chaldean people (who are all basically related by culture, language, religion and geography) is utterly beyond belief sometimes!
Shlama
- Let's discuss some of the changes you made then. To begin with you undid my earlier addition, perhaps by mistake. if so could we agree to restore it? you removed the mention about Assyrian nationalism being invented in the wake of the discovery of Assyria, whereas this is certainly not untrue, so could it be agreed to restore this? The rest we can leave for others to judge. though my view is that you've added bias, undue weight and revisionism on 'Assyrian continuity'. The problem is that your editing is not balanced. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 05:56, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
OK, im fine with restoring it, i'm not sure exactly which addition i undid. Regarding Assyrian Nationalism, i personally think it arose more out of mistreatment by the Ottomans from the time of Sultan Hamid onwards, but i think stating archealogical discoveries as a factor is fine. Regarding mentioning Assyria under the Achaemenids through to the Sassanids existing as Assyria (Athura, Assyria, Asuristan), its pretty much fact it did. I think mentioning that Assyrians did not simply disappear after that is fine also, and it is supported by Assyriologists and Iranologists. I did add that some early historians disputed the continuity of Assyrians, they believed all Assyrians were actually members of the Nestorian sect.
Result of your 3RR complaint
[edit]Please see the result of WP:AN3#User:ܥܝܪܐܩ reported by User:Sinharib99 (Result: Warned Sinharib99). You are warned against edit warring. It seems nobody on the talk page supports your views, and they claim your changes are unsourced. It is up to you to persuade the other editors that your material is valid. If you continue to restore it to the article on Assyria, before you get support, you may be blocked for edit warring. EdJohnston (talk) 19:51, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
"Nobody" means two other people. My changes ARE sourced. I provided numerous external, independant links...people chose to Ignore those links for POV reasons.
On my talk page, you requested that I check your edits at Assyria. Please see my reply at User talk:EdJohnston#Assyria. Be aware that you must not continue your campaign to revise this article unless you are supported by consensus. You may think the other editors are being unfair, but they haven't broken any policies so far. If you continue to revert without gaining their support, you are the one who will be in trouble, since you are still a minority of one. Check WP:DR for the options that are open to you. EdJohnston (talk) 03:45, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
So essentially, two people who have absolutely no source material, or external links to support their argument (which is a Racist argument), can outweigh somebody who actually does have credible source material and does provide external links?
Just because there are two of them?
By that logic, if two people argue that the earth is flat, and only one other person disagrees and provides evidence to support its roundness, Wikipedia will list the earth as flat!
That is madness. Surely weight should be given to researched argument, not numbers of people?
Disruption
[edit]You are continuing to insert an edit that has been rejected over and over again by other editors. This is disruptive to say the least. It does not matter what you think about the sources but what other people think of them. Take this as your last warning to stop your nationalist pushing and fringe theories, otherwise look forward to blocks and bans. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 01:19, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and stop calling everybody racists too. ܥܝܪܐܩ (talk) 01:22, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
And what leve of education do you have? Very little i suspect. It is NOT nationalist pushing, it is SOURCED, VALID comment....notably, you have provided NO SOURCE MATERIAL to back up your rubbish...and yes, you are a racist!
I have continually provided links to non Assyrian research from non Assyrian experts, backed up with historically accurate facts....you, probably because you regard yourself as Syriac (a derivative of Assyria), or a member of the Chaldean Catholic Church are intent on denigrating and denying Assyrian heritage...for RACIAL and POLITICAL purposes. You know it, i know it....those editors not from the middle east do not.
Hi Akhon, I need you help of a matter. Someone has been involved in editing the Agha Petros article, he has obviously a personal grudge against him and he have been spreading rumours of murders and orgies commited by Agha Petros. After not being able to give any resources he changed his strategy into stuffing the article with criticism of him, making it even bigger than the section about his involvement in WW1. I have been working in this article a long time ago and I'm sick of his and his sock-puppets edits. Any help from you would be very appreciated. Rafy talk 11:09, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

- you can see my comment there. You have the right to revert to articles if you choose, and they would need to be discussed by the whole community at AfD--AN/I does not make content decisions. But as I said there, I'd suggest first trying to get some more information. If you add it and would rather not revert personally, just let me know on my talk page. DGG ( talk ) 02:23, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Advice and Warning
As a reviewing administrator for BLP Proposed deletions, I need to offer you some advice. We are very glad to have articles about sportspeople from all countries and in all sports, but they MUST have references. If they have appeared in competition on the highest level --which is the basic requirement for them to have articles in Wikipedia-- there should always be references in the relevant national newspapers --usually easily findable in Google News Archive. There should also be a discussion or at least a listing of them in the general web sites for the sport. These references need to be added, and they need to be added at the very beginning.
Sometimes I have been able to check articles like these before deletion and add at least one necessary reference, but I cannot promise always to have the time to do so--and boxing is not one of the subjects in which I have the most personal interest. It is not my responsibility to do this, nor the responsibility of anyone here but yourself. If you can write the article in the first place , you surely have the references in front of you when you are doing so, in order to get the names right and add the key statistics. That's when to do it! It is unfair to expect others to fill in what you can do so easily. I expect that you will start doing this, otherwise you may find that you are wasting your efforts, because the articles will get deleted. I have other responsibilities, and it is taking too much of my available time here to do this work for people, when there are so many other things that need fixing. I've done one of the boxers, but I am not going to work further on the currently nominated articles. If you want them kept, work on them yourself. I advise you to do this very quickly, before the articled gets deleted.
And do not introduce others. Editors who repeatedly introduce unsourced material about living people are very likely to be blocked if they continue. I've done just that kind of blocking myself, and, despite the tolerance we extent to new editors while they are learning, you should have learned by now, & it will happen to you if proceed in this fashion. Assyria and Germany in Anglo-Israelism
[edit]Your edits on Assyria and Germany in Anglo-Israelism are biased and were therefore removed. Hamidian Massacres
[edit]Your recent edit of Hamidian Massacres you used this[2] source. You might try to find a published source instead of just a speech/presentation. The speech/presentation you have linked may not qualify as a reliable source. Speedy deletion nomination of Melek Bisso
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Melek Bisso requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. noq (talk) 11:13, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add unsourced content. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
Another editor has been adding a basic source to some of your articles, which will keep them from deletion. But, as I told you earlier, this is an unreasonable burden to put on other people. The sources for this basic information about athletes is usually rather obvious, and you should add it yourself. Besides the work you are making for the people adding the source, you are making unnecessary work for others in tagging the problem, and otherwise dealing with it. This cannot continue. Do it right, and you will be making a very useful contribution to our material of people from under-covered regions. Do it wrong, and you cause sufficient difficulty that it's not worth the necessary attention. DGG ( talk ) 21:03, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Shlama akhon, you're doing a great job with the Assyrian articles, but please try to add more sources. , but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Dougweller (talk) 11:20, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
If you intend to appeal, these are the conditions I believe you should agree to:
- Stop creating unreferenced BLPs. If you reference them the references must adhere to the criteria at WP:VERIFY and WP:RS.
- Try to always use edit summaries (you need to communicate with other editors)
- Respond to complaints, warnings, etc both here and at other pages such as ANI - again you need to show your willingness to communicate.
Dougweller (talk) 11:23, 4 August 2011 (UTC)ve re
- I've received a very polite email from this user who clearly understands the problems caused and noted that not giving referecnes is "clearly both unfair and counter productive.". The editor also wrote "Should I fail to adhere to the above if and when unblocked, I would expect to be blocked permanently sooner rather than later which would be fair enough."
- I think this is the best unblocking request I've ever read and have therefore unblocked the editor. Dougweller (talk) 06:06, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Shmayo (talk No probs! I Should have maybe pointed it out at time! There's still two Historical continuity sections though, so maybe they should be merged.

Speedy deletion nomination of Apiashal
[edit]Hello Sinharib99,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Apiashal for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Prof. Mc (talk) 20:21, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
