how many names?

[edit]
in the article***: There are about 1,000,000[citation needed] different family names in German.

The dtv-Atlas Namenkunde says:

Gesamtzahl genuin dt. Famililiennamen (...) Schätzungen (...) 150,000 und 300,000. (Numbers changed to English style [1.000 => 1,000])

which means that there are about 150,000 to 300,000 ‘genuine’ German family names (estimated). The book compares this to about 130,000 ‘genuine’ Italian family names and then says, in the USA about 1,500,000 names from many origins can be listed. Doppelname (e. g. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt); my «chef-d'œuvre»

[edit]

You can talk about “Doppelnamen” with first names and as well with family names. Examples:

Here we discuss family names (Nachnamen), I guess (the author of ‘lie’ gave no example.) With Vornamen, there is no problem to call a boy either “Hans Peter” or Hans-Peter (using “Bindestrichfügung”; attachment with hyphen) or even Hanspeter (“Verschmelzung”; melting). Herr Weiß and Frau Schwarz are today not allowed to call their daughter Melissa Schwarz-Weiß. --Schwab7000 (talk) 16:41, 21 June 2011 (UTC) This is what was said in the article:

   * It is strictly forbidden to give children Doppelnamen.[3] → This link goes to
an “Urteil*) des Bundesverfassungsgerichts vom 30. Januar 2002” on “§ 1617 BGB”.
 Since 2002, it is settled!

*) decision of the Federal Constitutional Court.

B U T: → What if the mother already carries the name Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger, just an example? (Then this can become the child's name.)

--Schwab7000 10:19, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

At en.wiki's BGB, I just found the ‘External links’:

* English translation of “Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch”

There you can find:

* Title 4 : Legal relationship between the parents and the child in general
Section 1616 Birth name in the case of parents with family name
Section 1617 Birth name in the case of parents without family name and with joint parental custody
   — then Section 1617a & b & c
Section 1618 Bringing child under family name (...)

(Section is in German “§” = Paragraph) --Schwab7000 (talk) 12:04, 22 June 2011 (UTC) and Guillemets, also called angle quotes, are line segments, pointed as if arrows (« or »)[reply]

Saying farewell to the man of plums

[edit]

This photo was at the top of the Germany (or German-speaking Europe) section. But in fact, it has little to do with Christmas, and even fewer with its traditions. You can buy the Pflaumentoffel at Christmas markets, like many other things. From ist history, this thing is linked with children working as chimney sweep. (see: de:Pflaumentoffel). The photo is removed from the article. ----Schwab7000 (talk) 13:46, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bertold P. Wiesner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Bertold P. Wiesner

This is a misspelling.

Probably, Berthold P. Wiesner is meant. See Psi (parapsychology) and Anna Gmeyner.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. in (German wiki): Erzbistum Freiburg, it says: Durch die Neuordnung der Dekanate reduzierte sich deren Zahl von 39 auf 26. Die Regionen blieben unverändert. (Dekanatsreform, 1. Januar 2008).

With a realignment of the deaneries, their number was reduced from 39 to 26. The regions remained unchanged. January 2008.

Thus, Deanship of Wutachtal does no longer exist. --Schwab7000 (talk) 12:07, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Bud Black (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
