I noticed your comments on the talk page of Cantus's new Wikipedia:Images unsuitable for inline display. I'd also appreciate if you could look at my Template deletion proposal for his template:offensiveimage which he's been trying out lately on one or two articles.

The discussion is here.

This image, which you uploaded two years ago, recently turned up on Wikipedia:Image sleuthing. We haven't yet been able to find its source; could you please comment? —Korath (Talk) 18:26, Mar 3, 2005 (UTC)

Many thanks; I've removed the listing from WP:IS --Tagishsimon (talk)

[edit]

Just out of curiosity, how did you find it? I have never been to Oxford and was wondering whether the description in The Amber Spyglass was detailed enough to identify that bench with certainty. Or is it already a "fan-site"? Kosebamse 09:30, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info. Kosebamse 12:59, 23 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You tagged for deletion the Korps Nationale Reserve article, giving the reason that the pager was not in english. Might I suggest that the {{notenglish}} tag was created for this purpose, and that this is not a proper reason for speedy deletion of an article. DES (talk) 16:48, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the continous vandlism of User:Truth aspirant-- the article Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman has become a ‘business-propaganda-feature’ rather an ‘encyclopedic article.’ Just see history of the article [[Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and Talk:Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman page--You are requested to take intrest in this serious editorial issue and make things straight in this global phenomena (Wikipedia). Thanx. Wiki4u

Inter language wikipedia

[edit]

Whilst I have found assorted pages on how the technical aspects of the various wiki languages work and how to cross link etc, I have not found a community page describing the hows and whys of them. In particular, I am interested in adding a article on a German town to the English wikipedia. The best source of info is the German wikipedia. I can translate and paraphrase some of that article. What about the templates it uses? What about the images it uses? Should I put a language link from german to english? From english to german? etc/usw. -- SGBailey 21:21, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the differences between a normal article and a translated article are very small, that's probably why there are no community pages about this.
  • templates are likely completely different between languages. They might have other names, slighty other meaning or might not exist at all. The best here would be if you would take an existing article about a German town in the english encyclopedia and copy most of that stuff from there.
  • The images are all in one big namespace for all languages. You should just leave the image name and it should appear again in the other language
  • For links between languages, look at Wikipedia:Interlanguage links. Generally, you add the tag de:Bonn to the english wikipedia and en:Bonn to the german one and interlanguage links will appear to the left of the wikipedia article. It has been agreed on that those links are added at the end of the article.
Well, that's all. Cheers! :-) Peter S. 12:06, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think Wikipedia:Translation into English may answer some of your questions. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 13:17, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Combination of the maps at www.election-maps.co.uk, census data from www.statistics.gov.uk and historical info from visionofbritain.org.uk. And a bit of google. Morwen - Talk 15:04, 14 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you are allowed to type (sensible) things here. Vandalism is not allowed. Polite converstaion is. The problem with the Troublesome five page is that it is not an encyclopadic article. It is a page about a group of friends doing stuff. I am sure it would be fine on your persoanl homepage, but not here in Wikipedia.
I have nothing against you or the page as such. It just happens that I was the person who first spotted that this inappropriate page had been created, so I marked it for the attention of aan administrator requesting them to delete it. It might have been that an administrator would have seen the page in a different light to me and would have removed the request for speedy deletion - but he would have left a reasoned message as to why he had done that. Because the "speedy deleteion" message was removed without due process, I converted it to a requested "Article for Deletion" which involves a much more laborious process to complete but obtains a wider concensus as to the view of the article. So far all the comments have been to recommend deletion.
You are of course welcome to add new pages on topics of encyclopaedic value or to edit existing pages by adding verifyable information or improving the language or style of the article etc. -- SGBailey 22:13, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
A. Kudos to you on the calm and clear response above.
B. See Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism (aka WP:AIAV) where you can usually be get a quick response.
C. Also Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents (aka WP:ANI) is good for reporting harrasment.

What was the conclusion?

[edit]

I don't know either, but please don't make talk page comments in the middle of a template. You could ask on the page itself, or on deletion talk, or ask one of the participants. It may also be the case that there was no actual conclusion and that discussion simply stopped. Radiant_>|< 11:40, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition of a speedy deletion tag to OneRace Films was neither helpful nor positive. Please be more patient in the future, and view the article creator's user page before making hasty edits. Adraeus 09:05, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please familiarize yourself with the Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion before continuing to hastily mark pages for speedy deletion. Such carelessness is distasteful and unhelpful. Pay close attention, in particular, to these lines: "It would be friendly to notify the author of the article"; and "note that some Wikipedians create articles in multiple saves". Also note that Articles Criterion 3 did not apply to the article at the time of the article's creation since the addition of an incomplete Template:Infobox Company, which I created, clearly marks the article under construction.
