My problem is not with what biologists do. It's with the claim about what physicists do. It's absolutely not the case that physics asserts that everything mathematically possible exists per force. Physics allows for many possible phenomena that physicists don't necessarily believe exist - primordial black holes, wormholes, etc. The sentence clearly needs to be reworded or scrapped entirely. Swpbtalk 13:46, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

@Swpb: Thank you for the note. My experience in the published literature and in the field is that when physicists compute the possibility of liquid water on Mars, they formally declare it habitable, even if it is a temporary water microfilm bathed in cosmic radiation, while they ignore the essential additional requirements for habitability. Anyway, instead of expanding in this miscommunication that happens often between the 2 disciplines, we can just drop the "Unlike physicists". Thank you, BatteryIncluded (talk) 15:16, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

CDG update

With the Ayotzinapa case on the headlines, I think this news won't garner enough attention. Rogelio González Pizaña was released a few months ago and is apparently back in the game to restore the "old school" of the CDG-Zetas, according to the narcomantas. I thought you might find it interesting. Regards, ComputerJA () 17:11, 11 November 2014 (UTC) [1] [2]

It is beyond sad. The Ayotzinapa students case affected me like few things in my life. It is so real and so monstrous the state did it. Seriously sad and depressed, BatteryIncluded (talk) 01:41, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
Indeed. It is one of those incidents that will be talked about for the rest of Mexico's history, but not for the good reasons. Hopefully this is a wake up call for everyone, and a breaking point in Mexico's public security strategy. All the best, ComputerJA () 02:50, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

User:Dienerto Edits: ok - or not?

Hello - hope you're doing well - *Entirely* ok no matter what you decide of course - but - if possible (and interested) - comments, if any, re the following would be appreciated.

User:Dienerto Edits: ok - or not?

Seems User:Dienerto (contribs), without discussion, has been rewriting several articles (ie, Viroid; RNA world hypothesis; Potato spindle tuber viroid; Circular RNA; Non-cellular life) - in order to promote himself, his own studies and his own WP:POV - in addition - seems the editor is attempting to remove references to other studies, again without discussion, that may not agree with his own studies or WP:POV - the editor may (or may not) be correct in the contents - a closer look at the edits may be indicated - nonetheless - possible issues of WP:COI, WP:PROMO, WP:OWN, and WP:SPA may apply - comments welcome - in any case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 21:28, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

FYI

There is a discussion at ANI you may be interested in (not about you). See Disruptive talkpage behaviour. JimRenge (talk) 07:47, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

@JimRenge: Thank you. But I do not expect any action to be taken against Robert Walker. He has been in Wikipedia many years and knows exactly how to skirt its policies and spirit in order to feed off drama. He is the proverbial fly on the cake. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 00:26, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
I am still hoping for restrictions as a result of the ANI discussion. It's 12 support against 7 oppose now. Involved editors are really fed up by his 1000 comments in January and about 2000 in December [3]. It looks like a campaign. JimRenge (talk) 00:47, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
IMO, short of a complete ban, specific topic bans would be the best. Notice he does little editing at all, he seeks and craves attention in talk pages. This has been going on for years; he knows the system's weaknesses and exploits them to feed his need for drama and attention. Admins have looked into him in the past and let him loose every time, so I do not expect any action now because they inadvertently taught him how to perpetuate this behavior. You will see; and the only truly effective way to deal with him is the "do not feed the trolls" technique. Ignore him and just hide his forum assays and spam. Any way, good luck, -BatteryIncluded (talk)

Voyager 1

There was a time, some one and half year ago, when I edited this article every single day and amassed some 200 edits in it. Tried twice for GA in vain and FAC once, but those were my humble beginnings. Now, I am feeling better to embark on a bigger task to give a GA top icon to my favorite article of all, Voyager 1. I even described it as my heart article once. Can you please join me to make it happen? Voyager 1, a good article...I'm on it. Please join me. Regards, -The Heraldthe joy of the LORDmy strength 08:41, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

@The Herald: Hello and thank you for the invitation, but I have gotten frustrated by the GA process whenever I tried it. I acknowledge it is required, but I just don't have the knowledge of the fine details required, and some of them seem subjective to the reviewer. I will pass this time as a formal contributor but I will take a look at it for some minor tweaks and work it out sometime stress-free. Thank you my friend. LightSail

Hey Batt. I agree with the thrust of your comment here: [Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Spaceflight#Moving_LightSail-1 on WikiProject Spaceflight].

In my view, you should just go ahead and be bold and move it, to reflect the scope of what is sourced and actually in the article. If you don't care to do that, then feel free to propose, but should probably be done on the article Talk page. N2e (talk) 18:04, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Extraterrestrial life citations

BatteryIncluded, I wasn't sure if an unpublished transcript of a talk should be on Wiki, even if the transcript is hosted on a university site. This might be a gray area, and I don't really have a strong feeling about it. Thanks, Isambard Kingdom (talk) 02:26, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

@Isambard Kingdom: Hello, and thank you for cleaning that article. It has been a thorn on my foot for years. I don't feel strongly about including that document either, I will leave it on your desk and revert it if necesary. @Isambard Kingdom: Sure I will! BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:33, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

Artificial life

Hi. I'm sorry for interrupting, but I need your help, if I could. Please note "artificial life" redirects to article about a field of research (including syntetic biology, computer programs and simulations, robots and machines e.g. hipothetical self-replicating and others) and there is statement "For artificially created life forms, see synthetic life.". Also when we are writting "synthetic life" in searching place it redirects to "Synthetic biology#Synthetic life". Also, in that section it was written Venter's creation was not synthetic life (although he's claimed that), but a mile-stone to create it, so that section was about trying to create synthetic life, not about already created. I think that redirecting to artifical life article is not clear (cause it can suggest robots for example too) and we should redirect to synthetic life section (which should be still existing) because potential/possible-in-future artificial (meaning synthetic) life could be considered living, not machines and robots (unless they can be created as synthetic organism). I'd like to know your opinnion as more exprerienced user. Thank you. Pinoczet (talk) 10:03, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

@Pinoczet: hello and thank you for the kind message. I understand your approach and intention and will work together with you to address it. At the moment I am busy but will write to you later today. Thank you again. BatteryIncluded (talk) 12:53, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much. :) Ok, I understand, so I'm waiting for message. Thank you. :) Pinoczet (talk) 14:07, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
@Pinoczet:. I will start working on a draft tonight to be used for the the 'synthetic biology' or synthetic life forms sub-section. What Venter called "artificial life" is in fact synthetic genomics, and he has the ethics to call it as such in scientific publications. He also has the right to call it anything else on his web site and investor relations comuniques. What matters here is Wikipedia, and you are right that such article (or sub-section) is needed. I will start creating a draft today. Again, thank you for your message and will touch base with you in a couple of days for more of your feedback. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 21:53, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
I edited and replaced the section at Synthetic biology#Synthetic life; please review it and give me feedback or edit it directly. One intention I had was to not have Craig Venter's work hijack the subject. If the reader wants more info on his work they can click the link on his name. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 00:57, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
I've reviewed it and it's really great job! :) Thank you very, very much, your help was invaluable. :) I'm really satisfied that my suggestions were justified. I will also change information in Non-cellular life, because redirecting to "artificial life" article is not precise (can suggest robots, machines etc. which only popularly can be described "artificial life" or name of the field of research, although it should affect synthetic life) and unify it with informations from "Life" article. Thank you very much and cheers :) Pinoczet (talk) 01:23, 7 August 2015 (UTC) PS. ANd thanks for 'welcome' message :) Greetings. Pinoczet (talk) 01:38, 7 August 2015 (UTC)

@Andyjsmith:, Hello. What can we do with Life on Mercury? It was merged and deleted, and later it was somehow resurrected on a dark technicality. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 16:16, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
TBH it doesn't look all that bad to me. But there are sections for other planets in Extraterrestrial life so why not add something there then redirect? Andyjsmith (talk) 18:19, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

EJSM, JMO, JUICE, LP, etc.

The EJSM didn't get off the ground. NASA backed out, then started the EMFM. ESA converted the leftovers to JUICE, and it seems Russia wants Laplace-P to be on JUICE on the way there, using that as their transport. But I'm wondering something...This JMO and Jupiter and Trojan Asteroid Explorer...I haven't seen any news newer than 2012, shortly before the EJSM ended. What happened to JMO? What even was the JTAX plan? Can you try to help me update JMO's article? I'm at a loss as to what JAXA's plans for it are now. DN-boards1 (talk) 18:39, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

@DN-boards1: I know the history and cancellations. The current status is that Laplace-P is a Russian proposal ≠ planned. It may be an all Russian mission for all we know, as they have designs for both the lander and orbiter to be launched separately with their own Russian launchers ("The design of the landing module would derive from the yet-to-be-developed Luna-Glob mission. In turn, the orbiter could borrow its systems from the ill-fated Phobos-Grunt project." Source: here; and look at the title: "Russia funds a proposal") YOU don't know what will the outcome be, so DON'T write that they will fly together with JUICE. And please get it straight: Laplace (ESA) ≠ Laplace-P (Roscosmos); and proposal ≠ planned. Thank you. BatteryIncluded (talk) 18:47, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
That doesn't answer my question of what became of the plans for the Jupiter Trojan Asteroid Explorer and the Jupiter Magnetospheric Explorer. Mind looking into what became of them? DN-boards1 (talk) 00:07, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
I respectfully decline your request. You seem inclined to go for the extreme speculations and record it in Wikipedia as a fact. The history of those missions are complex and I would not like to se you tamper with that information with that quality of initiative. Quoting Daling and especially these reverts [7] were the last drop. Sorry, but it is my POV on you acquired over several interactions. You are a liability in this project. Dwarf planets

The University of Cambridge paper on plutoids from 2010 by Tancredi, look at the table. It is indeed supported. All the ones I listed (we can remove Charon and Vanth and Dysnomia if you like, those aren't supported) are in the table under either "Yes" or "Yes?" near the end of the paper. I don't remember which page, but it's this paper:

http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstract?fromPage=online&aid=7462648&fileId=S1743921310001717

Page 7, the following have "Yes" by them:

Eris, Quaoar, Sedna, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, 2002 TX300, 2002 AW197, 2003 AZ84, 2004 GV9, Ixion, Varuna, Huya, and 1996 TL66

The following have "Yes?" by them:

Varda/2003 MW12, 2005 RN43, 2005 RR43, 2003 OP32, 2001 UR163, 2004 SB60/Salacia, 2005 RM43, 2004 UX10, and 1999 DE9.

It does indeed have support for it. Please revert your reverts, essentially, as they are indeed supported by Tancredi. DN-boards1 (talk) 23:11, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Why do you talk about [8] but source from [9] ??
Anyway, that Table 1, on page 178 lists the candidates or proposals. (You keep doing the exact same WP:OR with concept spacecraft and you write that they are funded and in development.) You have no authority over the AIU to certify what bodies are or aren't dwarf planets! Therefore, my reverts stand because you keep misrepresenting the sources. BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:50, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
In between edits, you finally figured and separated the dwarf planets from the candidates. Yes, only these apply: Eris, Quaoar, Sedna, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, 2002 TX300, 2002 AW197, 2003 AZ84, 2004 GV9, Ixion, Varuna, Huya, and 1996 TL66. Not the ones with interrogation marks. Well, they're still ones he's chosen as candidates. He's said basically "Okay, these ones I'm pretty sure are dwarf planets", therefore I included them. They're in his eyes the same level of likelihood as 2007 OR10, Salacia, etc. It's better to include his likeliest candidates where I had them. DN-boards1 (talk) 23:29, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
What part of WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH you don't understand? Feel free to make a list of candidate dwarf planets if you must, but don't record them in WP as if you have the authority over the AIU and classify as you please. You do not get to decide and insert a reference that it "may be close" to your POV and OR. You have a real problem with comprehension and aptitude. In fact, you sincerely lack the WP:COMPETENCY to edit in Wikipedia. BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:50, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Hey BI. You might want to review Template:Dwarf planets as well. — kwami (talk) 02:44, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

@Drbogdan: The photos included are extremely nice! As for the info, it is an informal piece by the newspaper. Very interesting though. Thanks for sharing!. BatteryIncluded (talk) 02:04, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

StarKiller88 isn't me.

I'm not Starkiller88. I've heard of him, though. Please see the SPI case. But yeah, those two IPs sure fit the bill for him. But I'm not him. DN-boards1 (talk) 02:14, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

I appreciate your message and I apologize if that is the case. I hope you understand the resemblance in editing and warring style begs for a review. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 03:27, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

IRC

Do you go on IRC? I'd like to be able to more quickly communicate with you than just talk pages. DN-boards1 (talk) 00:15, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

I don't use IRC. Thank you. BatteryIncluded (talk) 00:31, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
