The Nutcracker

[edit]

Hello, I undid your change to The Nutcracker because it was a link to the same page. There is no need to link to the same page. BeckyAnne(talk) 10:16, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The link was meant to be to a DIFFERENT PART of the same page. It was meant to link to the section about the Nutcracker Suite.
The reason I added the link was that I had trouble finding the information myself. Once I found it, I wanted to save the next reader the trouble of searching. Robinesque (talk) 10:23, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for kindly explaining your changes. :-) Robinesque (talk) 10:43, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please see MOS:CIRCULAR why that is not allowed. I again will be reverting it because said MOS. Repeatedly adding the link may require reporting the incident. BeckyAnne(talk) 17:01, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the solution is to add a "Redirect with possibilities" for "Nutcracker Suite". The "Nutcracker Suite" is an important musical work that I studied in a college-level music appreciation class. Some might expect it to have its own Wikipedia article. I think that "Nutcracker Suite" should have its own redirect page. What do you think? Robinesque (talk) 22:05, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It already has a redirect according to the top of The Nutcracker. Notice the lower case s in suite. Which a quick check redirects you to the Concert excerpts and arrangements header. Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a can't be linked to because of the : and the , in the title.

If you want to spin the Nutcracker Suite into another article, I suggest writing a draft in your sandbox and submitting it for review. The blur in Nutcracker probably would require expansion to be accepted. BeckyAnne(talk) 22:24, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Continuing on the spin off suggestion, I personally can not help you. I only had The Nutcracker in my watch list because of a vandal revert in the past. Most of my wiki edits involve either dealing with the cleanup reports or chasing vandals in recent changes. BeckyAnne(talk) 22:38, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know all that! I added the redirect page to the "Redirects with possibilities" categories, since it could be spun off some day. Then I linked to the redirect page from the Nutcracker Ballet. Per MOS:CIRCULAR, this is permitted, even though the redirect page points to the Nutcracker Ballet page.
