I figure you are long asleep, but I just seen your message about the EAR thread, had a nap of my own and then caught up on recorded shows on my DVR. I will take a look and see what it is all about. To be honest, I didn't know we had a WP:EAR. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 08:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks again
Re this prior discussion and this one, this retirement (that user's name used to begin with a "C"), and my most recent edit, sometimes the illegitimi do carborundum (if it sticks) . All levity aside, your kindness and help in my first days as a Wikipedian probably did more to encourage me to continue editing here than any other single thing and I cannot adequately express to you how much I still appreciate it. Southern Cherokee Nation of kentucky
Hi - you had reason to warn a guy named Chuck Hamilton over his conduct on the Northern Cherokee Nation of the Old Louisiana Territory article, (see the WQA notice section on his talk page where you warned him), for incivility and personal attacks. He s now doing the same on a similar article, Southern Cherokee Nation of Kentucky and it is causing a lot of resentment. I thought if you reviewed this article you might agree to intervene now and prevent an edit war. I have never been in this position before so don't know how to proceed. His attacks are not against me personally but rather against the person who is currently writing the article. It is headig for an edit war and that just aint necessary or useful. Thanks either way.MarkDask 13:48, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to say that my involvement on Wikipedia has been waning as of late, so I don't think I'll be able to help out substantially. I might suggest bringing this matter up at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Geopolitical ethnic and religious conflicts to try and resolve the underlying content dispute, rather than making it just about behavior. Best of luck getting things resolved! —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 11:00, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing this up. We can't use the refs you suggested as they would indeed have been WP:UNDUE (I also found a stack more similar ones), and I was not able to find any new sources that were not about his illegal activities. However, as the two sources cited on the article were fakes, I have stubbed the page. --Kudpung (talk) 15:40, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with File:CYOA Snowman NoStkr.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:CYOA Snowman NoStkr.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi there. I notice that you were involved in this article's peer review and was wondering whether you could help me with it again. I have recently given it a bit of a re-write, trying to stick to the guidance provided at VGPR of broadening the audience and so forth, but would be very grateful if you could read over the article and tell me whether I have actually achieved these aims (after all, after reading over one's own work too many times, one can get somewhat lost in it and require the assistance of a fresh pair of eyes). I am conscious that I have not yet addressed the reliable sourcing issue—I am working on it—but for the time being, could you just have a look at the article prose and tell me whether any of it needs to be cut etc.? Because, after all, why bother accurately referencing a sentence that will just get cut at GAN anyway? Thanks in advance. It Is Me Here t / c 17:02, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I'm sorry I never got back to you on this. Honestly, it's been so long since I wrote in that PR, and my involvement on WP has waned to such an extent, that I don't think anything I could contribute would be particularly helpful. Sorry again and good luck with the article! —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 09:37, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Snow Crash
I recently read the book Snow Crash. After I finished it, I went to check out the wikipedia page and in the introduction section is a massive spoiler. It basically gives away the central point of the plot that isn't exposed until the last 100 pages of this almost-500 page book. I wanted to change it, but I've never edited on wikipedia before and I didn't want to mess the page up.
Still, spoilers suck, and it really would suck to be reading this book and come upon this page. Just reading the third paragraph ruins everything. A lot of people would benefit if you did something about this.
Thanks.
Sergeysephy (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:51, 22 March 2012 (UTC).
- Yeah, I took a look. I agree that the longer plot summary is a bit revealing. Wikipedia's general stance, however, is that spoilers are allowed. But, I agree, some discretion may be in order. Unfortunately, I don't own a copy of the book, haven't read it in something like four years, and honestly am not sure I have the time to rewrite the SC plot summary myself. If you would like to help, but really aren't sure about posting your changes directly to the article, you can always try posting your proposed changes to Talk:Snow Crash, and I (or another editor) would be happy to take a look at your edits and incorporate them into the main text. By the way, you may want to read WP:PLOTSUM if you're interested in helping out with plot summaries. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 22:13, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Age of Empires II screenshot
Hello Mendaliv. I noticed this picture mini|right|this picture; your screenshot from the game Age of Empires II. Personally, I have just taken this screenshotmini|left|screenshot from the same game. But the problem is that my screenshot will probably be deleted due to copyright issues and missing license. How did you get that? How can I "legalize" my screenshot? Thank you.
- Jarhaugin (talk) 14:15 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- First off, you uploaded to Commons. You can't do that since it's not a free file. You need to upload it to Wikipedia as a fair use file. Also, as it would be fair use, it needs to be reduced in resolution. See WP:UPI for more information. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 16:35, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello again, Mendaliv. I got another problem for you that I hope you got the right answer. Ok som i opploaded this image: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/File:AoE2_Mongols%27_mangudai._screenshot.png . Unfortunately, I am not able to use it on my unfinished article: http://nn.wiki.x.io/wiki/Brukar:Jarhaugin/Kings#Sivilisasjonar . It is written in norwegian, so please don't mind that. Clearly you are not able to see the image. How do I fix that problem, in your opinion?
- - Jarhaugin (talk) 14:15 10 June 2012 (UTC)
Because it's a fair use image, rather than a free image, it cannot be used outside of finished, published articles. It won't show up in your unfinished article, and in fact will be deleted if it doesn't get used in a finished article soon. See WP:NFCC for more information on non-free content. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 17:39, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- Actually I now notice that you're writing the article for Norwegian Wikipedia. As the file is on English Wikipedia, you cannot simply link to it from other language wikis. You need to upload the file to Norwegian Wikipedia, in accordance with their guidelines for non-free content. Hope that helps. —/Mendaliv/2¢/Δ's/ 17:41, 10 June 2012 (UTC)
- That helped. Thank you. I think I understand now, so fortunately, you would not hear much from me. Thanks again for using your time helping me.
But I still irritates me that Wikipedia cares so much about images as they do now. It makes me want to quit upload images. - Jarhaugin (talk) 00:03 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Reliable - secondary sources?
Hi from Gary Fong - I see that you've put up a resolution request on my wiki page, and I'd like to know what you mean by reliable, secondary sources? I looked through them and there are similar references in the same format as a majority of the bio wikis i've seen? Field support for MS degree
Hi Mendaliv. If I'm reading things right, you modified Template:User degree/BA to enable display of academic fields. I was hoping you could do the same with Template:User degree/MS, and perhaps Template:User degree/MA. Consider it a public service—my MS is in library science, so the unqualified MS box is technically correct, but misleading. :) --BDD (talk) 18:47, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
- Done. Hope that helps. So you'd want
{{User degree/MS|field=[[library science]]}}
