Hi Rcclh

[edit]

I have checked several sources but they only show or list the league winner as being the team that topped the league. However, the speedway.org website is probably the best source in regard to Sweden. The site has more info about Sweden than any other I have found and does seem to be the expert in Swedish speedway so I would say you are probably right. Is it just the 1983 and 1984 that are a concern? because I will need to change the text on the relevant page. i.e So and so won the league title for the third time not the fourth time etc. P.S. British Speedway Under 21 Championship are listed on those pages so links are correct.Pyeongchang (talk) 14:41, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Firstly, thank you for doing a great job with creating and expanding a large amount of the speedway articles on wikipedia. With regard to the query above, the periods that involved play-offs to determine the champions were 1982-85 and 2000-07. The team that finished in first place were not champions in 1983 and 1984 for the first period. For the second period, speedway.org history only goes up to 2003, so for 2000-03 the year 2003 Smederna finished first but the play-off result says "Aggregate Kaparna 101 Smederna 91, Kaparna swedish champions." In brief, 1983, 1984 and 2003 need changing. Regarding the edits I made to remove the year links in British Speedway Under 21 Championship that you reverted, I would expect when selecting, for example, the link "1980" for it to nevigate to the page "1980 British Speedway Under 21 Championship" (which does not yet exist) rather than go to "1980 British Speedway Championship". I must admit though, I didn't scroll down to notice that the under 21 meeting details had been added to the page displaying the British Final result, so i'm happy to keep the links as you've left them. I would suggest the under-21 result details have their own page in the future, as i'm not convinced that the British Final and the British Under-21 Championship are intrinsically linked, with one being in essence a World Championship qualifier. Hi Rcclh. I agree with everything you have said but the problem I am encountering in regard to the last item is that when creating a new page on speedway (i.e. a year page for an U21 British final) the page patrol people are flagging them as not notable etc and it risks recommending putting back to draft or deletion. The problem is that most of the older competitions have little in the way of sources as you know. British Archive Newspaper sources are great pre mid 1980s but there is so little from mid 1980s to about 2010. I am having to rely heavily on books that I have. Anyway I will look at the Swedish pages in due course. Many thanks Pyeongchang (talk) 11:54, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Adding sources

[edit]

Please can you add the source to the article itself, rather than just in the edit summary? GiantSnowman 18:29, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
