Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to The Shock Doctrine, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:00, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

September 2012

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. You posted the following statement in the article on Lev Landau. "Robert Maxwell, the head of Pergamon Press, which publishes some of the English translations of Landau's works, was with him in the car and was instrumental in getting him to the hospital in time." Do you have a reliable source for this information? If the only source for this was a statement by Captain Bob himself, then an appropriate way to phrase it would be that "Maxwell claimed on such and such a date..." (Maxwell's dishonesty is well known.)

For the time being I have deleted the statement about Captain Bob. The rest of the paragraph is backed by citations to reliable sources. Having a completely unsourced statement in that paragraph causes problems.--Toddy1 (talk) 05:45, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Annus Mirabilis papers. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. - DVdm (talk) 18:29, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conjectures

[edit]

Re this edit: please be more careful with the word "conjecture". It is used when a mathematician has a strong belief that a question has a particular answer, without having a full proof. In the case in question, the authors clearly did not have any such belief. —David Eppstein (talk) 06:05, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Orchard-planting problem, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ron Graham (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
