Administrators' newsletter – April 2021

News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2021).

Administrator changes

removed AlexandriaHappyme22RexxS

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a has been deprecated; it covered immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
  • Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the delete-redirect userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.

Technical news

  • When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
  • Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)

Manual ping

I didn't get the "your mention was sent / not sent" notification for a comment I made that mentioned you, so I'll kick it oldschool with a talk-page ping: Talk:2021_Northern_Ireland_riots#Londonderry/Derry. Feel free to ignore this of course. -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 08:26, 10 April 2021 (UTC)

Doris Wenban

While WP:NOR prohibits me from posting this as a reply on your reference desk question, genealogical databases do provide possible answers.

  • A "Doris A Wenban" was born in July, August or September of 1914 in Croydon, Surrey, England to a mother whose surname was "Knights". [9]
  • A "Clement J Wenban" and an "Amy M Knights" were married in April, May or June of 1912 in Kingston, Surrey, England. [10][11]
  • A "Doris Amy Wenban" married a "Robert Stanley Gorrell Dent" on 10 July 1939 and newspapers notices were published in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. [12]
  • A "Doris Amy Dent" was born on 26 July 1914 and died on 20 January 2008 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. [13]

If all of this is true, she appears to be this person, and her husband this artist.

Hope this helps, Star Garnet (talk) 20:30, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

@Star Garnet: That's just the gen I was looking for, thank you. I don't think NOR stops you from posting such material to the Refdesks, only article space. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:20, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
