[edit]Fair use rationale for Image:Bleep_lg.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bleep_lg.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 06:03, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Shepherd and Deniro from Taxi Driver.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Shepherd and Deniro from Taxi Driver.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:49, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I see you have been writing on my talk page. Specifically speaking about my attempts to edit. What I'm trying to do is come up with neutral information which would be acceptable without being immediatly removed. I'm taking your advise and learning how to better "edit" on the site. Thanks for the advise. I am also taking suggestions given to me by others as to what would be good to be posted on the site and attempting to build consensus. My concerns are the fact that even very basic neutral information like what courses are offered and what the school's policy is on visiting them and gaining access to the school are deemed "whitewash" and "promotion of the school" and are immediately removed. Do you believe that type of information to be anything other than neutral? case? ChaplainSvendsen 19:25, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- I also ask that you do not make userpages for other users as you did with the above user. I have deleted the user page. If you have concerns with COI take it to the appropriate venues but do not unilaterally decide to create someones userpage "warning" other users about them.--Jersey Devil 00:17, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- You are completely out of line in deleting the page. It does not fit under the criteria for speedy deletion. User:Pedant 06:46, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

RfA header removal
[edit]Well, I reverted your edit because consensus had not been reached for individual headers to be included in RfAs, and inclusions in the {{rfa}} template are extensively discussed on RfA's talk page (more extensively than other talk pages), and because dividing the sections of Discussion into support/oppose/neutral sections would stuff-up the Table of Contents on the main RfA page. This idea has been rejected several times in the past I would imagine, as it seems to me something that encourages users to think that RfA isn't a vote. I'm not going to start that matter right now, though. My apologies if you were offended by the revert, or my edit summary. Looking forward to corresponding in the future, Sebi [talk] 09:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Prod on 20-20-20-20 club
[edit]I've removed the re-added prod...WP:PROD is only used for uncontested deletions, and removing the prod is considered to be contesting it. If you still wish to see the article deleted, send it over to WP:AFD. I would suggest waiting for a few days, however. Give the merge a chance to happen. --UsaSatsui 19:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Re: Olga Karavaeva
[edit]On 17 Sept 2007, the following note was left on my talk page (when you were apparently not able to sign in, so under an IP address):
“ | Would you please help me? I am trying to find the deletion discussions for Olga Karavaeva, I'm pretty sure the subject matter passes the notability requirements, and that the most recent delete was as a copyvio, one which came through ignorance of policy. I think Miss Karavaeva created the article herself, but it was a copyvio from her own website, and that the copyvio problem could be resolved by asking her to give herself permission to gnu license or to place the material in the public domain. If you would, could you copy the latest version of the article to User:Pedant/Olga Karavaeva for me. If possible I would also greatly appreciate if you could help me locate any deletion discussions or similar relevant material. Thanks very much for any of this that you can help me with. And congratulations on your new adminship! User:Pedant ( can't log in right now 67.49.8.228 22:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC) ) | ” |
- I find no evidence that such an article ever existed. There is no deleted edit for the article name as provided. Perhaps it could be found under the username of the article creator. Do you have this information?
- Relevant guidelines and policies to be aware of may include:
- If it is a copied from the subject's website and/or created by the subject — Wikipedia:Conflict of interest aka WP:Vanity
- Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Notability (people)
- Wikipedia:Verifiability
- BTW, I don't think I still fall under the "new" admin category, as I've been an admin for over a year. But, thanks for the congrats.
— ERcheck (talk) 12:05, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- The article had one contributor - the original creator. It was deleted three times under speedy deletion criteria A3 (containing only the title), A7 (notability), and G12 (copyvio). The first deleted version only contained only the subject's name (article title) The second deleted version was the same as the copyvio deleted version (final version), which is identical to the bio page currently on the subject's own website. — ERcheck (talk) 23:33, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:George Gray Points Out Glenn's Bald Spot.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:George Gray Points Out Glenn's Bald Spot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. Non-free use disputed for Image:Grizzly_SierraMag_July2005.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Grizzly_SierraMag_July2005.jpg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mangostar (talk) 22:17, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:George Gray Points Out Glenn's Bald Spot.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:George Gray Points Out Glenn's Bald Spot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Martin Scorsese cameo Taxi Driver.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Martin Scorsese cameo Taxi Driver.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:30, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
