Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

[edit]

Even though the ANI report has been archived, I feel like it is worth mentioning that you have made ZERO improvement in your grammar and spelling since you last commented on the report, as evidenced here and here. Furthermore, it seems as if you have failed to heed Darth Mike's suggestion that you only edit the version of Wikipedia where you are proficient in the language of.

To quote from WP:CIR: "Sometimes editors have good intentions, but are not competent enough to edit in a net positive manner. They create work that others have to clean up." With your constant grammatical errors, you are creating work that other editors, myself included, have had to clean up. The Grand Delusion(Send a message) 05:34, 1 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

sloppy work

[edit]

You made four typos in this single edit. Everyone makes mistakes. However, we should not be routinely making edits that other Wikipedians have to clean up. Please be more careful. Chris Troutman (talk) 21:24, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, do you speak Portuguese? Mathglot and I could use your help if so. Could you contact me to discuss? I can help with the English part if you help us. Thanks Elinruby (talk) 02:03, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar correction tools

[edit]

Hi, O recomeço. Are you familiar with grammar and spelling correction tools? If you use Microsoft Word, it has a spellchecker and grammar checker that can find and fix English mistakes. There are also many online tools available for free. Another approach, is to install and use Chat GPT as a grammar checker; if you follow that approach, don't use Chat GPT to write content—that would be a big mistake, and likely get you blocked—but you could use it to copyedit content you wrote, and turn it into proper English, and then copy the corrected version of your words into the article; there should be no problem doing that.

Here is an English tip for you:

  • Unlike in Portuguese, in English we capitalize months and demonyms (adjectives for countries, people, or religions). So, for example, in English it is "September", "Cuban", and "Jewish"; not "september", "cuban", or "jewish".

I know English is not your native language, and this won't fix everything, but it will help if you can capitalize countries, demonyms, and religions. Can you do that? And if you could look into getting a free grammar/spell-check tool, that would help as well. I just tried this one on the diffs linked by an editor at WP:ANI, and it showed me the errors with underlined words, and then if you click on them, it fixes them. I found it by Googling free online grammar checker and you can find many more free tools like that one, if you don't like this one. Best of luck! Mathglot (talk) 03:46, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mathglot, thanks for trying to help me. I now realize that my edit approach isn't terribly popular, or even encouraged, here on Wikipedia. Although, i do think that little by little i'm getting close to being a genuine wikipedian. While i'm still finding some diffilculties about english grammar and sentences padrons i will manage to get over it. Thank you for the tools that you showed me and bye bye. Thanks friend O recomeço (talk) 20:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(passing-by user) padrão -> standard or pattern, padrons is not a word, although maybe "sentence structure" would fit better. – 2804:F1...53:5F6C (talk) 22:04, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

O recomeço I really think l the problem is less with you than on the part of people who reported constructive editing, and since admins took no action I think they may agree. It's your call of course but if you were in another topic area you could be seen as a valuable contributor. Isn't there a missing article you would like to create? Elinruby (talk) 21:14, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In reality, yes, i do have some ideas for new articles. I have no clue on how to begin. O recomeço (talk) 21:27, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The first step is to find your sandbox. If you click on the icon that appears when you are logged in it might be in a menu there. Have you ever set any special preferences? But anything you work on in your sandbox will probably be left alone until you are ready to publish it. Elinruby (talk) 21:51, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@O recomeço: I have a minute now and made you a link. It might say the page does not exist and ask if you want to create it. If so click yes. Feel free to ask questions.

User:O recomeço/sandbox If Mathglot or I do not seem to be around, Wikipedia:Teahouse is a good place to ask questions in small doses. Also that person at the IP address seems to be watching your page and possibly will help out. Hope this helps Elinruby (talk) 01:23, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I am indeed the person who commented in the ANI thread, but I found this page by coincidence through recent changes.
Maybe I could help some with grammar, though possibly to the same effect as the recommendations you've given them, but I'm really not an editor -
I mostly just revert vandalism (not even doing much of that, recently, and comment on things). – 2804:F1...53:5F6C (talk) 01:30, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe watch the page? This editor has gotten some hostility lately as you saw. A bit of encouragement might help, not necessarily with English. Your call though of course. Elinruby (talk) 01:37, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, I can manually check on here for a bit, but IPs can't use the watchlist. Also, despite my IP's location I find myself editing at almost the opposite times of the BRT time zone. – 2804:F1...53:5F6C (talk) 01:59, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh that's right no account. I dunno, maybe check on them then. I'd just like them to see a less hateful side of Wikipedia than they have so far, is all. I'll do the same. I don't want to overwhelm them either tho Elinruby (talk) 02:00, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar correction tools (again)

[edit]

Please take the advice from other editors and start using grammar correction tools. Northern Moonlight 01:23, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you have resumed editing with more grammar problems despite the very, very many warnings from other editors to ask you to use a grammar correction tool. I’d like to request you to confirm here that, going forward, you will check your work more carefully with a grammar correction tool. Northern Moonlight 07:35, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Despite that many warnings asking you to use a grammar correction tool, you ignored other’s advice and continue to disrupt Wikipedia with your edits.
