Hello!

[edit]

I would like to welcome you and thank you for your contributions to the 2014 Venezuelan protests article. It is important that we have many users on that article to keep a neutral point of view since there can be a few disputes. I see that you are from Venezuela and I hope you stay safe wherever you are. Once again, thank you for helping and good luck with your future work.

@Zfigueroa: Thank you too! You seem dedicated to the current article of the Venezuelan protests, I also thank you for using the pictures I have taken, I didn't expect them to be used so quickly and I really appreciate both things. Since Wikipedia is visited so many times each day I found important to collaborate with the article, especially if I'm from the country where the protests are taking place. I actually was wondering if you were from Venezuela too. Anyways, things doesn't look like they're going to get better any soon here, but fortunately everything will be fine at the end. I will try to keep helping in the article and keep the events up to date. I wish you good luck to you too, take care! PD: I replied yesterday but forgot to add the "reply to" template, sorry! --Jamez42 (talk) 02:38, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just saw this! Stay safe!--Zfigueroa (talk) 02:09, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014 Venezuelan protests, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Girardot Municipality (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

@DPL bot: I fixed the links leading to disambiguation pages. Thank you! --Jamez42 (talk) 11:05, 24 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

Since other users are asking for help with their opinions on the 2014 Venezuelan protests article I am going to ask for yours. I know you have a more neutral view of things than others so any thoughts would help.--Zfigueroa (talk) 05:21, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Zfigueroa: Hi Zfigueroa! First of all I wanted to apologize if I have been a little inactive these days; I’m not sure what other information I can bring to the article but there are still edits I want to make (like the intervention of María Corina Machado in the OAS I mentioned in the talk page, for example). Perhaps I’ll have more time for that now the Holy Week is coming.
I see the article has improved many aspects since the last time I visited, like the addition of pro-government marches and that is often updated, but there are other points that should be treated as well. I consider more statements of president Maduro, especially during his national “cadenas” (media emitions) should be included to add more weight to the article. Many of those are included in the Spanish chronology of the events and I suggest once more that some parts should be translated. International press and media information should also continue to be included, not only to help improving the neutral point of view but also to facilitate information to English speakers.
Personally, I have to disagree with Zozs’ proposal to slim down the information in the history section, and I think instead a new article should be created to talk about all the events, while the most important one are to be included in the protests article. Likewise, I think the information of an extensive section should be moved to a new or an existing article.
Regarding barricades, as far as I know the guayas (the metal wires) are the ones who have killed some people, while the barricades themselves don’t, although some persons are severely affected by these. President Maduro has criticized, for example, that people blocked by barricades don’t have access to hospitals or any health care. Some protesters argue that barricades are also used as a protection against armed groups, and not only as a form of protest.
Once again I’m sorry if this reply is way too long, I don’t know if this should be included in the talk page or other discussion page. A neutral point of view may be as hard to find as the events of the protests in Ukraine, but it’s not impossible. I’ll try to help uploading original work of the protests, but since I haven’t been in any pro-government march I don’t have any picture of them by now. That’s why I’ve wondered if pictures received through the cellphone is considered by Wikipedia as a copyright violation. Good luck with the article, you’re doing a great job! I’ll lend a hand when I get the chance. Please tell me if you need help with anything else.--Jamez42 (talk) 02:25, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I knew this was going to be hard but I'm trying to make things go as smoothly as possible. I have seen what you meant on the spanish version of the article with a separate timeline article and think that may be needed in the future.
The pictures on your cell phone can be uploaded as long as they are yours. If they are your friends, just have them upload it. Make sure they are not taken from news articles or randomly off the internet. Just stay safe at any marches!
If you could find out more about the barricades that would be awesome. I have heard about the metal wires and may add that to the article if i can find it. It is kinda being disputed right now on the talk page where I have been working on neutrality.
Don't worry about long responses. It's nice talking to other users. I like to know what is going on and what needs to be changed. --Zfigueroa (talk) 03:42, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa:I haven't been in a march for some time now, that's part of why I haven't uploaded more pictures recently and why I wondered if I could upload others' pics in the article. Sadly, they're not Wikipedia users, use Flickr or upload the photos online, so I can't think of a way to give credit to them. Zozs' points regarding neutrality are actually pretty good, I'll see if I can find something about the barricades. --Jamez42 (talk) 04:15, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just got done adding information about the barricades (thanks to you). Go ahead and elaborate on that some more though!--Zfigueroa (talk) 04:46, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: It looks like a good start! I'll notify if I make any change--Jamez42 (talk) 13:10, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I was looking for information about the caltrops! I didn't know what they were called though. Oh well, you took care of it though!--Zfigueroa (talk) 15:16, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: Hahaha in that case I'm glad I added information about them as well! --Jamez42 (talk) 15:24, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: Please feel free to modify any of my edits if necessary --Jamez42 (talk) 15:26, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hugo Chavez article

[edit]

I am trying to add new information about Hugo Chavez on his article. I was wondering if you were interested in helping. Thanks for you pictures by the way and stay safe.--Zfigueroa (talk) 02:13, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Zfigueroa Hm, sounds interesting. How may I help? --Jamez42 (talk) 03:08, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just need help with explaining the shortages in the food section. I already added the section about the currency black market but I want to relate the shortage of dollars in Venezuela to shortages of food.
Overall there is a lot to be updated on the article.--Zfigueroa (talk) 03:27, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: I personally think shortages of food got worse since the presidency of Nicolás Maduro and the creation of Sicad and Sicad 2, which also controls the foreign exchange. Would you like me to look for local sources? (The Banco Central de Venezuela, for example) Here are some:

--Jamez42 (talk) 16:12, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I just know there have been mentions of shortages throughout his presidency and they dramatically increased when the inflation increased in late 2012/2013. Thanks for the sources!--Zfigueroa (talk) 18:08, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: True. I would say the greatest problem during his presidency was insecurity, something that hasn't been solved yet. Please tell me if you need any help translating from Spanish --Jamez42 (talk) 18:11, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bolivarian propaganda article

[edit]

Just passing along the message that the Bolivarian propaganda article may be up for deletion. If you could provide your opinion or even edit the article, it would be greatly appreciated. More information can be found on the article and its talk page.--Zfigueroa (talk) 20:56, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Zfigueroa: I have the government's version of the constitution, it surely has some controversial pictures. There are also many murals against the American government, but currently I don't have photos of any of them. If I happen to take pictures of them I'll upload them to the article, it seems like an interesting article I could work in. I would also like to ask you if you'd like to help with Venezuelan history articles, those about presidents like Juan Vicente Gómez, for example, or the Barranquilla Plan. I currently have some work to do, but I'll read the article and see if I can improve it somehow. --Jamez42 (talk) 21:31, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here are a few examples about the murals:

Of course I'll take a look. I've done a little bit of work on previous presidents when I added history to the corruption in Venezuela article. Thanks for the links too!--Zfigueroa (talk) 21:54, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: Thanks! And you're also welcome! Do you think adding the illustrations of the book would be against the copyright or fair use policies? --Jamez42 (talk) 22:00, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure about that. The Bolivarian propaganda article is now headed for deletion though.--Zfigueroa (talk) 02:21, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: Wow, that doesn't sounds good. I'll see what I can do. --Jamez42 (talk) 03:26, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Also look at the 2014 Venezuelan protests talk page. It seems like I'm up to the chopping block. It was nice knowing you... lol--Zfigueroa (talk) 03:28, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa:Lol, I'll take a look at it tomorrow, it's 11 pm here. Hang in there buddy, it was nice knowing you too :P --Jamez42 (talk) 03:31, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Can you look real quick? It's pretty bad!--Zfigueroa (talk) 03:33, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: Back, I'm having a look at it right now --Jamez42 (talk) 19:07, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: I added my opinion regarding La Patilla, hope it helps. --Jamez42 (talk) 20:05, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you can, also check out the proposed deletion of the Bolivarian propaganda article.--Zfigueroa (talk) 23:03, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zfigueroa: I checked the article not long ago and commented why I think it should be kept, besides adding the book cover of the constitution I was telling you about in the education section --Jamez42 (talk) 23:13, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Bolivarian propaganda" Move

[edit]

The article is up to be moved by Zozs. Please discuss what you think at Talk:Bolivarian propaganda#Move.--Zfigueroa (talk) 05:50, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just checking

[edit]

Just making sure you're alright. I know you've been taking photos at protests. Stay safe!--Zfigueroa (talk) 20:28, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Zfigueroa: Thank you! I haven't been in Wikipedia for some time now and there hasn't been many protests in Caracas. I'll see if there's another article I can work with later, and hopefully we may work together again. Take care! --Jamez42 (talk) 02:39, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok! Good to hear from you.--Zfigueroa (talk) 02:51, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vente Venezuela article (es)

[edit]

I was wondering if you could check out this article since I don't know if what is being placed is original research or not. I'm not trying to canvass (I always have to state this) but I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something on the talk page.--ZiaLater (talk) 04:17, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@ZiaLater: I gave a quick glance to the article and its discussion page. It seeems a good start of what could be a good article, but I agree it lacks reasearch and some of its content looks a little biased, like the introduction. I would suggest to research in the official webpage of the party, but apparently it is short of information, so maybe it would be better instead to get information in newspapers' websites. If you need any help researching or translating I'll do my best to help --Jamez42 (talk) 02:04, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you. A lot of it is based off of the website and I tried to keep it as neutral as possible since the only source used is Vente Venezuela.--ZiaLater (talk) 04:11, 13 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@ZiaLater: No problem, if you're looking to improve the article just look after another sources, so far it's doing fine. --Jamez42 (talk) 23:22, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I tried looking for sources but it's tough. Thanks for taking a look!--ZiaLater (talk) 23:46, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
