Nah, don't worry! Branislav gave me a tourist map of Belgrade, and besides, most of the time I was with someone else's company, so I basically didn't need a map! :) I'm in Skopje at the moment. Did you have a nice trip back home? --FlavrSavr 11:44, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Much better than getting there.. everything went well. The first flight to milan yesterday morning, though, was cancelled due to fog in milan :) So we were lucky that the weather changed timely. --Nina 12:49, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FBI Image

[edit]

Hi Nina,

We have been having some problems with a User:Patchbook over at the Law Enforcement wikiproject, and he has just recently gone around removing this image:

http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Image:Policelight.jpg

Which we have been using as our symbol, claiming that it is against the law to show it. Is he correct or is he vandalising? SGGH 11:42, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well.. I have no idea. He refers to "USC Tittle 18", whatever that is- can you learn anything from that? And, why do you ask me :)? --Nina 13:01, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

- Hallo! Soll ich Chromatin auf Deutsch nachschlagen? Was *ist* denn von dem? Erzaehl uns bitte worum es geht.

If you want to know what chromatin insulation or a genetic insulator is, you currently cannot find it in wikipedia, the topic is missing. Roughly speaking, a chromatin insulator is a genetic element that seperates an enhancer from a promotor, so that the enhancer cannot influence the promotor anymore. It is different from a repressor, because it only works in one direction. There are two different types of insulators, barrier insulators that are important in position effect variegation, and enhancer blocking insulators that, if placed between an enhancer and a promotor, act as described above. --Nina 08:30, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok, that makes sense. A missing piece of information.

Vandal you asked me to block

[edit]

Hi there, I'm afraid I cannot block the vandal as I am not an administrator but I have left a message at WP:AIV and that will be dealt with in probably less than five minutes, Happy editing!TellyaddictEditor review! 16:04, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IP vandal

[edit]
Hi Nina, WP:AIV is for vandalism in progress - an active vandal. The IP you have noted stopped a few hours ago and the changes are already reverted. If they come back, action can be taken at that time. Best, Kaisershatner 16:24, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, where can I ask for an infinite block then? --Nina 16:26, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, sorry for the late reply. It's best to file requests at WP:AIV about vandal as they will most probably be dealt with much quicker, the IP vandal has been warned with a Blatant Vandal template by an administrator after I filed a request at AIV. Thanks for your patience in this matter and follow up with questions or comments on my talk page or any more vandalism request at AIV - Thanks!!! TellyaddictEditor review! 20:10, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I want this IP to be blocked permanently without further warning and without any more discussions. It contributed nothing but vandalism, and I cannot believe that its still not blocked. Giving IPs one last warning after the other is really ridiculous. Where can I report an IP so that it gets _blocked unbureaucraticly_? --Nina 20:27, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm sorry but the user has to be warned for vandalism in order to ensure a appropriate block from edting, The IP was warned by an admin and if it vandalised again then warn him using a second test4 (make sure he vandalised after his/her test4, then give him/her a second one as there is no point in adding a test5 because he may not be blocked, it's up to the blocking administrator.) Please be patient and read the Wikipedia:Blocking Policy, vandals cannot just be blocked indefinitely at first depending on the severity of the incident, blocking times normally start from 24hrs then rising if vandalism continues after block. If you see more vandalism from this IP chack he/she has vandalised after there final warfning then file requests at WP:AIV, it's quicker and is chacked about every 5/10 mins. Tellyaddict'Editor review! 12:35, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is completely ridiculous. I don't want to spoil my time waiting until this IP starts vandalizing again so that I can quickly report at AIV to stop it. When was your last active improvement to the content of an article? How many guys do you have in en.wp who do nothing than putting templates on vandals talk pages, waiting for their next vandalisms and collecting edits with that? --Nina 12:52, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nina. In reply to your demand for immediate and permanent blocking of an anon IP, I would suggest you read WP:BLOCK to get a better idea of the blocking policy. Also, WP:AGF. The IP you are interested in was blocked for one month on Feb 15. Continued vandalism from it will generally lead to even longer blocks as long as is necessary. Regards, Kaisershatner 15:34, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And don't spoil your time waiting for that IP. Do something else instead! There are many other things to do beyond worrying about vandalism. Enjoy. Kaisershatner 15:42, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see, I didn't wait. I found dozens of other vandals that have many many "this is the last warning" templates on their discussion pages. And instead of pointing me to WP:POINT, you should think about en.wikipedias blocking policy and the reliability of the whole project. --Nina 16:15, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nina, I pointed you to WP:AGF, not POINT. Some IP addresses may change their ways. And open access is part of the whole idea behind WP. However, we don't have to agree on those things. You do your thing, and I'll do mine. Enjoy, Kaisershatner 16:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I assumed pointing me to WP:POINT would be your next step. Please show me cases where IPs changed their ways. There is no collision between blocking vandals and AGF: in de.wikipedia, people behind a permanently blocked IP - from a school for example - can contact OTRS and ask for being unblocked. If they assure to prevent further vandalism, they will be unblocked immediately. But until this demand is made, Wikipedia is protected from vandalism, which is one of our major problems. Each day we have tons of tickets in OTRS where people complain that they found some inadequate remarks in an article. --Nina 17:43, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not redirect this to hair of the dog. The two concepts are related, but they are not identical. I am trying desperately to turn that crap pile of an article known as Homeopathy into something that is a bit easier to read and use, and law of similars is an important concept to this field and useful for this article. Just redirecting to to hair of the dog does not help, although I am glad to include a link to hair of the dog in the law of similars article to acknowledge the similarities of the concepts. Thanks.--Filll 14:30, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the "law of similars" is worth an own article, where can I find the discussion about the necessity? At the moment, the article is not neutral enough, there is no hint that the concept is neither logical nor not working at all. --Nina 08:57, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I'm trying the same with the german article de:Homöopathie :o) --Nina 09:31, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ERC logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ERC logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:03, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Nina! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Germany and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.

Hi Nina,

thanks for - it recently found a new use at the bottom of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2011-07-25/Recent research, which sparked a discussion at Template talk:Open access on whether that use is compliant with the CC-BY license the file has been released under. I would appreciate if you could comment on the matter there. Thanks & cheers -- Daniel Mietchen - WiR/OS (talk) 19:00, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that this logo is now quite ubiquitous :) --Nina (talk) 14:53, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Peter and Anneli's Journey to the Moon, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page June bug (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
