Not charge density
[edit]@Niashervin, I noticed that you have been going through and changing "electron density" to "charge density" for cryoEM. Sorry, but it is really the electrostatic potential V(r) that is measured from both the nuclear & electron terms in cryoEM, see for instance Cowleys' Diffraction Physics. The charge density kind-off comes out as a zero-order approximation for out of focus imaging, but is not general, see the links in Contrast transfer function. Technically it is electron density for xrd as they don't see the charge. Ldm1954 (talk) 15:57, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- You're right, electrostatic potential is more correct than charge density. The article I was editing needed some major revisions so I wasn't worrying too much on specific wording yet. I'll change the phrasing to electrostatic potential maps on the next iteration. Thanks for bringing it up! Niashervin (talk) 18:56, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
