License tagging for Image:Halongvn.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Halongvn.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Hi, it's great to have your expertise on Vietnamese cuisine articles, which I also work on. Regarding your additions to Cinnamon, that article is only for "Cinnamomum zeylanicum." Could you move the info out of that article and into "Saigon Cinnamon"? It's a different species. Best, Badagnani 17:44, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi Neweco, I'm very interested in Saigon Cinnamon (it's only recently becoming available in the U.S.). It's very good. I'm of the opinion that the species is probably very similar to Cinnamomum cassia (the spice usually sold in North America as "cinnamon," even though it's not true cinnamon. Can you help about this, though: I think in Vietnam Cinnamomum loureiroi is not the only species of cinnamon that is commercially grown, and there may be others. Do you have any information about this? Badagnani 04:04, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Dear Neweco, we're very pleased to have you here working on Vietnamese culture and cuisine articles. I'd like to invite you to join the new WikiProject Vietnam. Just add your name at http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Vietnam (look down a little bit and you'll see a numbered list of editors, listed under "Participants"). We're working together to improve all Vietnam-related articles, and write new ones. Your input would be wonderful to have. Best, Badagnani 18:03, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Better source request for Image:Miquang.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Miquang.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. bluemask (talk) 12:56, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Vietnamdulich.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Vietnamdulich.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:30, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Non-free use disputed for Image:Thac ban gioc.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Thac ban gioc.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:41, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Van Mieu
[edit]I am a little concerned at your rather drastic edit of Van Mieu. I realise that Van Mieu is the generic Vietnamese term for a Confucian Temple, but the most famous one is in Hanoi and that is what the article was originally about. If you want to write about Vietnamese Confucian Temples in general, you might consider doing so at the main page on [[Confucian temples]. Dividing Confucian temples up on a national basis (Confucian temples in China, Confucian temples in Korea, Confucian temples in Vietnam) loses the essential unity of the phenomenon, a victory of nationalism over history.
If you feel that there is enough content to justify a general article on Van Mieu's in Vietnam, then this article might be a place to do it. But at the moment there is no such information. You have merely given us an article about the Van Mieu temple in Hanoi, and a whole string of empty section headings for Van Mieu around Vietnam.

Khang
[edit]Hi, the population you gave for the Khang people seems 6,000 higher than the Vietnamese Wikipedia article. Also, their language is Mon-Khmer, which would mean they're not closely related to the Thai people. Where did you get that information? Badagnani 17:23, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
It is very possible for the Khang to speak a Mon-Khmer language but live a primarily Thai lifestyle. It happens all the time. Like the Bahnar and Ede live in much the same way but one is Mon-Khmer and the other is Malayo-Polynesian. Or the way the Thai came south from China and adoped many Khmer customs hundreds of years ago. It's just the language I was primarily concerned with. I think there are just 7 more ethnic groups with no articles. Without hard work like yours, there would still be 20+ ethnic groups with no articles. Knowledge marches on! :) Badagnani 17:30, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Muongcongchieng.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Muongcongchieng.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Xinh Mun people
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Xinh Mun people, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Xinh Mun people. — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 07:08, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:54ethnicgroupvn.jpg}
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:54ethnicgroupvn.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit]Hi Neweco!
We thank you for uploading Image:Muongcongchieng.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Fair use rationale for Image:Edegong.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Edegong.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 21:41, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Vietnamese similes
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Vietnamese similes, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Unencyclopedic list in a language other than English.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. §FreeRangeFrog 05:59, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:
[[Category:Vietnamese culture]] [[Category:Hypothetical second category]]
I've added at least one parent to the category. I invite you to check my work for accuracy and completeness.
I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 20:50, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Culture of Vietnam
[edit]Hi, I just wanted to let you know I contested your edit where you wrote on the Culture of Vietnam page that "It is also proven that, Indian factors have affected Vietnamese culture at approximately as equal as that of Chinese factors with the most significance is the propagation of Buddhism" There is Indian cultural influence in Vietnam, especially through the Cham, however it is nowhere near equal to Chinese influence and this is agreed by all scholars I've read. As for Buddhism, it is true that all Buddhism came from India however the Mahayana Buddhism practiced in Vietnam is influenced most by Chinese Buddhism. There was some influence of Buddhism directly from India but this was dominated and overtaken tremendously by Buddhism coming from China.Slingstorangoyam (talk) 22:28, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. - 220.101 talk\Contribs 15:44, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Halongvn1.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Halongvn1.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:11, 7 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 02:11, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Files missing description details
[edit]are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.
If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.
If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 01:05, 13 April 2013 (UTC)Question

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:22, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
The file File:Rongtien.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
