These animated GIfs are really great additions to the articles since many games can only be appreciated while in motion. I look forward to more! — Frεcklεfσσt | Talk 14:05, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you :) I just wish Microsoft corrected their browser bugs, the animations dont run well in IE8, which I believe is one of the most widespread browsers out there... NeoGenPT (talk) 06:13, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Request for assessment on Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
[edit]I left some comments at the talk page on how to improve the article per your request at assessment requests. Hope they help. CrimsonFox talk 21:22, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, that was quite a review, I honestly didn't expect so much detail. Thank You! This is a great topic which I think it has plenty of potential to go up all the way to FA with the proper work on it. I was just hoping someone would leave me a couple of pointers for B-Class, as I think it's best to go one step at a time and not try to jump all the way up at once, but this is great feedback. Thank You Crimsonfox! NeoGenPT (talk) 01:05, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
What Guidelines?
[edit]What guidelines suggest using "generic names like joystick, gamepad, keyboard and mouse"? I couldn't find that in the WP:VG/MOS. --TorsodogTalk 14:22, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Torsodog. It's the guidelines for the Infobox only, that's the only thing I've been changing. See Template:Infobox_VG on the section of input. There's also been a discussion about generalization of the input methods here. Hope that helps. NeoGenPT (talk) 17:00, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for pointing me in the direction of the convo. You might want to stop changing all the game articles, as the conversation seems to be ongoing with no consensus yet. --TorsodogTalk 17:24, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. I started because up to the point there hasn't been any objection apart from the case of the Wii which everyone agrees it's a very peculiar kind of controller, so I started changing all but Wii games. But since the debate restarted yesterday I'll stop and watch the outcome. I am pro generalization but I promise that I'll sweep through the articles again and put the specific controllers back if that is the outcome of the debate. :) NeoGenPT (talk) 17:32, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds good! I just didn't want you to get too far into it if all of a sudden things changed. --TorsodogTalk 19:35, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Desert Strike gameplay (Mega Drive).gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Desert Strike gameplay (Mega Drive).gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fred the Oyster (talk) 11:46, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
Re: help with images
[edit]The rationale wasn't clear or elaborate enough as to why the animation is needed in the article, and didn't contain any information on the resolution (i.e. "proof" that the resolution is "low"). It should also have the caveat saying that it doesn't hinder the commercial viability of the actual game. I wouldn't care normally but the Desert Strike article is a GA and so it needs a complete rationale. I'm also not sure animations are generally speaking justified in video game articles under the non-free content policies. However I'm not sure nor particularly bothered either way, so I asked about it here. bridies (talk) 12:41, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
articles of compilations
[edit]i saw your argument about articles meeting GA status even though if they were stand alone articles, they wouldn't meet GA. the difference is very clear. though one soundtrack release isn't notable enough to make GA, all of the soundtracks together can. why? because the article is not just about one, it's about the entire series.
an easy example is list of anime series character articles. those are made up of many characters, even though some are have notability and split out of the list, there are still many other characters that don't meet notability to sustain there own article. but even though they don't meet notability as separate articles, they are able to obtain GA status by talking about all the characters together.Bread Ninja (talk) 18:43, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yea, I guess it's the rule of thumb as we see it here, but it doesn't really make sense to me. I'm a believer that the overall value should not be higher than the individual parts. Much like computer memories work, you can have three sticks of DDR2 RAM each with a different native speed, but when combined in your PC they will all three work at the speed of the slowest one. NeoGenPT (talk) 18:57, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
- think of it like this, 1 musketeer is recognizable, but 3 united is legendary.
EDIT: there's a difference in importance of data, then value of information. the key to these is the main idea the article tries to get across. the main idea of just one soundtrack most likely wont even make it to it's own article. but if they all compile together to give a different idea, such as not just one soundtrack but all soundtracks that have released and those to come. then that will be more likely to get GA-classBread Ninja (talk) 18:59, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Flash game creators
[edit]While arguing with you about the open-source games reliability proposal, I noticed you're otherwise someone whose opinions are of merit. I'm working on a series of articles on notable developers of Flash games. You can see the first one at Gregory Weir and I'm planning on similar articles for Daniel Benmergui, Terry Cavanagh, and a much better version of Edmund McMillen. I don't know if that's a topic you're interested in but if you feel like contributing please feel free. If we can't get notability for all videogames we can at least make sure the notable ones have good articles. - DustFormsWords (talk) 06:13, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Beneath a Steel Sky
[edit]Hi
Please note I have re-added the Project Robotics banner to the talk page on Beneath a Steel Sky. The reason is that the game, although a video game, has a great deal of robotics references and robots feature in the game quite prominently as Joey himself is a robot I believe ?. I quote from the article :-
"Foster even learns engineering and technology and builds a talking, sentient robot called Joey."
"Joey's personality is stored on a small circuit board, which can easily be inserted and removed from many types of robot bodies. This allows Joey to change bodies as the situation requires, provided his circuit board is not damaged. Joey, however, is not always happy about Foster's choice of body for him."

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
