Since you participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bullshido.net (3rd nomination), which was closed as "no consensus", you may be interested in a subsequent DRV. Since I disagreed with the close, I contacted the closing admin, who responded, "To be honest, Cunard, I would tend to agree with you, but I am not sure if the balance of things heads to delete rather than no consensus. Listing it at DRV might be a good option here; I won't endorse or oppose the close and will allow the DRV community to decide it. Therefore, I have listed this article at DRV; if you would like to participate, please see Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2009 October 2#Bullshido.net. Thanks, Cunard (talk) 21:09, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Review requested

Hey Nate, So I have the bulk of the work done on a forthcoming Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ranking system page. There is still some polishing left to do, a few more cites to add or adjust, and just a lot of general cleaning that needs to take place (re-wording things too). Still, there is enough now that I would like you to take a look at it if you wouldn't mind. I've taken everything "belt rank" or "promotion" related from the BJJ page and cleaned it up and added (and will continue to add) some cites, along with merging those individual belt rank pages together. Let me know what you think and what you would like to see made better before I consider unleashing it on the masses :) User:Buddy23Lee/Sandbox Buddy23Lee (talk) 22:15, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank ya sir, I appreciate the help. I know your a busy man so if you see anything that needs tweaking or changing and you don't have time to do it yourself, just leave me a list or something and I'll put some focused effort into those areas. Buddy23Lee (talk) 21:23, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Good call, I'll try to fix up the large amount of web cites. I'd like to use more hardcopy references, but only a few of the many BJJ books I've found touch on the ranking system, and even then it's very brief and hazy. I figured internet cites are better then no cites. I'll hit you up when I think I'm done again, if you don't mind :) Buddy23Lee (talk) 21:54, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Arctic Monkeys fight it out with Dracula

The addition of the popular pages facility to the Yorkshire sidebar last month has thrown light on which of our articles Wikipedia readers actually access most. The first month for which there is complete data is September when Arctic Monkeys were in pole position with an average 6,869 hits daily. In second place with 5,781 was Wuthering Heights followed by Dracula with 4,996. The table is sortable on a number of attributes but the sort takes a while to complete.

File:Newarcticmonkeys.jpg
Arctic monkeys. Sadly no Dracula image, any volunteers?

As the page has a link to current data it is possible to see and compare current raw data for daily hits. So far the October statistics (up to October 20th) reveal that Dracula with 5,474 daily hits is well ahead of seasonal favourite Guy Fawkes with 4,411, and last month's favourite, Arctic Monkeys, are pushed into third position with a daily hit score of 4,259.

Three football clubs Leeds United A.F.C., Hull City A.F.C. and Middlesbrough F.C.get into the top 25 along with several pages about literary topics such as the Brontë family and their works. Television personalities are well represented, Jeremy Clarkson (4,559) is 4th overall in the list and Judi Dench is 23rd with a hit score of 1,577. Do the history topics in the top 25 suggest homework assignments?

It will be interesting to monitor the rise and fall of pages on the list which will also suggest where our efforts as a project might best be directed for maximum impact.

Please remember...

The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis. The latest listing was created on September 4th.

  • Monitor
Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
  • Infoboxes
Many of our articles would benefit from the addition of an appropriate infobox.
  • References
Please remember that the list of stubs needing expansion is always in need of attention. Please take a look and see if you can help. One small edit, such as adding a reference section and reference, to an article each session would make a big difference.
  • Moves
Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR.

BJJ ranks page (round 2)

Hey Nate, would you be willing to give the BJJ ranks page another look through? I should be done with the citations, but let me know. I tried not to change anything you've changed, and in a few spots where I did, I tried to keep to the spirit of what you had in mind. I'm sure we'll get those minor spots hammered out in the end. Thanks in advance! Buddy23Lee (talk) 00:01, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

User:Buddy23Lee/Sandbox

Yea, I see what you mean. I'd actually thought about trying to standardize the time estimates (as much as one can). It didn't seem like much of an issue when the belt ranks were on individual pages, but now that they're all combined it does seem a bit more glaring. I'll see what I can do. Thanx! Buddy23Lee (talk) 19:07, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, cool. I wasn't sure when you'd think it was ready for article space. Can you just look at one last thing before I put it up? I tried putting a standardized time estimate into the individual belt picture captions as sort of a different way to display the info. Could you tell me if you think this is a good idea or not? I can always change it back. Also, when I put the article up, should I delete the old, unsourced stuff out of the main BBJ article and add a link to this new article, or should I just leave the main BJJ page alone for now? Thanx again for all your help and advise! :) Buddy23Lee (talk) 18:55, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Nice, thanks Nate. Hopefully that post will get some people to tinker with it. Keep in mind that I would have never even started that page without your merge suggestion! ;) Buddy23Lee (talk) 00:04, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

TKD

Technically it was not a whole revert. It is bit by bit improving article. --660gd4qo (talk) 11:27, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

"he best solution is to leave the article alone and resolve it on the talk page. "

I absolutely agree this part. so, I suggest article must settle before Reinosuke come in. --660gd4qo (talk) 11:51, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

And, this is content dispute.

  1. Mr. lee talk officialy denied by kukiwon.
  2. Many questionalble pov quotes are directly denied by historical facts and documents.
  3. According to shindonga website, "무단 사용하는 것은 저작권법에 저촉되며, 법적 제재를 받을 수 있습니다."(All contents are copyrighted, do not use contents without permission)

--660gd4qo (talk) 11:55, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

  1. Its original copyright holder is a shindonga magazine. According to Shindonga website[1], "무단 사용하는 것은 저작권법에 저촉되며, 법적 제재를 받을 수 있습니다."(Korean)(All contents are copyrighted, do not use contents without permission)
  2. In this incidnet, Mr.Lee denied his interview. According to famous Korean taekwondo society, [2](in Korean), 그글이 신동아에 나온 뒤로 본래 인터뷰 내용과 차이가 있다는 이종우 원로의 항의도 있었듯이 뭔가 충격적인 것을 써야 하는 언론의 특징을 감안하면서 읽어야 하는(Mr. Lee said Shindonga interview was "distorted", The magazine always want finding "shocking" gossip.") Mr.Lee does not permit translate & publishg his interview. Again, Mr. Lee later denied shindonga article, and he did not permit publishing & translating.
  3. first, native korean reference linking is not copyvio. but whole document reference itself is a "illegal" copyvio document. The English translation and publishing are NOT permitted by copyright holder. for exmaple, harry porter book translate to foreign language and publishing without permission of author&copyright holder. it is copyvio. second, small quote is not a big problem. but, 'forking specific quote by ediotr's convenience' is pov. third, i'm not sure translated to english as properly. fourth, kukkiwon officially state that it's not proper to use that report as the reference of the history of Taekwondo. (see, kukkiwon notice no. 30[3] --660gd4qo (talk) 12:16, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
Unfortunately, English translation and publighing are not permitted by Copyrightholder. --660gd4qo (talk) 12:37, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Why?

Nate, why are you reverting the changes I've made to some articles I've edited recently? In particular, the one about Vacón has been reverted improperly to a state that is patently wrong. The edits/improvements I made to that article have been properly researched. It seems that you are considering my edits as vandalism without giving things a closer look. Please justify your actions, as this may have to be submitted for arbitration.  Bruno  16:58, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Ah well...

Perhaps I should wait until you've settled down making changes. I see you've reverted back to my edits to Vacon, where the article is as I left it last night.

The reason I did one more edit today is because of the changes to {manav by country}, so I removed it from both Rumi maki and Vacón. You changed the manav to remove the references to the Peruvian martial arts Rumi Maki and Vacón because those are either unassessed or stubs, which I can understand. But since those martial arts were removed from the manav, then the manav should not be present in the articles until those articles are upgraded. This was the edit I made earlier today, which you have then reverted.  Bruno  17:08, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Problem with world map image on self-harm page

Hi Nate, how are you? Good I hope. First I wish you happy New Year! And hope it is a good one for you on wikipedia and of course in real-life. Second I am getting a bit frustrated over the inclusion of an image on the self-harm page which I have removed twice but which has subsequently been re-added. My issue is that the map is not sufficiently explained and that when I have stated my concerns on the talk page they have been completly ignored. I therefore ask you to comment at Talk:Self-harm#Map of self inflicted injuries. I'm not very good at stating my concerns maybe but I really feel that the map has to be sufficiently explained. For example I assume (but can't know for sure because the editor who added the map hasn't explained it!) that the map shows the worldwide prevalence of self harm. However if you look at the map it shows greater than 2:1 prevalence of self-harm in russia compared to the uk. If this is true then the differences between prevalence should also be sufficiently explained. I hope that what I have written is comprehensible! Thanks. Jdrewitt (talk) 21:13, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

BJJ photo opinion needed

Hey Nate! I've been working on finding a new picture for the main BJJ page. I've been in contact with a photographer who took some very cool shots at various World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. Long story short, he was willing to donate a few to our project.

Here is a list of the dontated files:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GABRIEL_VELLA_vs_ROMINHO_51.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Andrea_Galvao.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lucas_Leite_2009_BJJ_Championships.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:LUCAS_LEPRI_vs_GREGOR_GRACIE.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ROBERTO_CYBORG_ABREU_2009_BJJ_Championships.jpg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ROMULO_BARRAL_2009_BJJ_Championships.jpg

My question to you sir, is which do you think (personal opinion) would be the most appropriate to use as the main picture? I'm partial to the Garbriel Vella vs. Rominho pic as it shows one of the quintessential BJJ techniques (Triangle) being used by competetors at a very high level, but I'm obviously open to whatever people think is best.

I've already put Andre Galvao's pic into his article and I plan on doing the same with the rest over then next week or so.

Let me know what you think! Thanks! Buddy23Lee (talk) 19:28, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Nate. I changed the pic and caption to the Vella vs. Rohminho one for now, but I've added part of this comment and question into the the MA discussion page as you suggested. We'll see what people think! Buddy23Lee (talk) 19:54, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Sticky spacebar?

Hello Nate, I was looking at the WPMA article review page that you kindly set up, and noticed that there are a lot of double spaces (and some triple spaces) throughout the page. My first thought was that you might have a sticky spacebar on your keyboard. I'm not sure if this will have any effect on links (it does not appear to have an effect, from what I've seen so far), but I thought I'd let you know just in case this becomes a technical issue later on. Thanks. Janggeom (talk) 02:40, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
