Ok, I guess I'll stick some words in here.

I go by morgoo, or Morg00 as it's known here. I have tinkered on some pages a few times, (this is me:76.100.248.41, also, this:63.239.65.11) but I never bothered to get an account before...that I remember, anyway.

So why sign up now? Well, I was looking at the Neutron Temperature article, (which needs help bad) and when I was poking around the web to refresh my memory, I found a great picture. Neat!

However, to upload a picture, it seems I need an account, and 4 days, and ten edits. (sigh)

So, I signed up.

I like some pretty oddball subjects, so I guess I might as well do what I can to improve Wikipedia.

Ehn, it's a hobby...

Please be sure to upload images to commons:. Your account is a SUL account and you will not need to wait even one minute to upload images to commons. Delphi234 (talk) 21:34, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't?

Uhm.... okay, I'll see if I can't work out how to do that.

Any hints? :)

Morg00 (talk) 21:36, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just click on the "Upload file" link at the left after you get to commons and follow the instructions. It will launch an upload wizard. You will need to choose a license. All images at commons must be available for any purpose, with very few restrictions. The only images that get uploaded here at Wikipedia should be ones that are used solely for fair use purposes. The most difficult part in uploading an image is there is a relatively obscure link to add categories, and it helps to figure out the categories that are appropriate before starting the upload wizard. I usually pick a similar image and use the categories that it uses. If you do not add a category someone will eventually add one or more, but it helps a lot if you add them. Commons also has a help desk where you can ask questions, and other Commons:Help:Contents information. Delphi234 (talk) 00:32, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks!

I finally got the pesky image to work, although I'm still not sure about the category things, I don't think I ever found that obscure link you mentioned.

But it's now in the article and looks awesome, some helpful somebody even formatted it all pretty.

Wrong venue

[edit]

Per this comment at Talk:Renewable energy "Global biomass isn't something to applaud, it's something to battle against."

This is by far the wrong venue for that, which belongs more in a blog or a letter to the editor or even facebook, but definitely no where in Wikipedia, which is an encyclopedia. Our sole task here is to describe the world using reliable sources, not to comment on how the world is doing or what the world needs. See WP:What Wikipedia is not, in particular the section WP:SOAP Cheers. Delphi234 (talk) 22:25, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep up the pressure on the renewable energy talk page Morg00

[edit]

Just read what you wrote on that articles talk page, you are right the page is POV, it does not list the negative effects of the energy sources. Each should be given a balanced appraisal. Deaths, and cost included. Boundarylayer (talk) 06:28, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the kind words! :) I have been busy in Real Life and thus have been less active lately, but I always drift back.

I was gonna say something to that Delphi dude.... But it seems like he's been banned forever, on, like, four different accounts.

Sheesh! Maybe that's part of why that Renewable Energy page is such a mess....

Help! I want to do some editing, but it won't take my password. It logs me in, and immediately dumps me out again. I've logged in like twenty times, and nothing is working. The FAQ says this is a cookie thing, but I checked in my up-to-date Firefox, and I'm accepting cookies. Reverted edits at Concrete

[edit]

Hi Morg00, This is to let you know that I reverted a series of your edits at Concrete with the following edit summary, "A series of unexplained edits. Please use the Edit summary, as I'm doing here, for each edit. Better still, please discuss removing so much material in Talk, before commencing the edits! The updated data are not supported by the publicly visible portion of the reference given."

It was difficult to tell which edits were a possible improvement. One updated statistic that you gave was not supported by the reference given. I'd be happy to discuss this further at Talk:Concrete, since I assume that you felt that you were making an improvement to the article!
