- ok, I answered my own question on Talk:Sealyham Terrier/GA1 and made the change to the lede I proposed and a few more copy edits. If you have no objections to the changes I made, let me know and I will pass the articles. Alternatively, change it the way you think it should be and I will pass it. It this point I think it is a fine article. Regards, MathewTownsend (talk) 21:11, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

List of Crufts best in show winners
Could you have a look at the 'notes' section of the Crufts best in show winners page, please? Under note F it reads: F ^^^^^^^^ The abbreviation SH stands for Senior Hunter, a title awarded for performance by gundogs in hunt tests.
However, if this note refers to the dogs with the title Sh Ch, it is incorrect. Basically, in the UK, gundogs and border collies have the title Sh Ch (abbreviation for Show Champion) if the dog has been awarded three challenge certificates under three different judges. The dog may only gain a full title (i.e Ch) once it also achieves an award in field trials (Gundogs) or working trials (border collies). The full explanation is given on this link http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/7464/A3370-Regs-K.pdf
Sagaciousphil (talk) 11:40, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know if you feel it might be relevant to include some further information about the Sh Ch title? It's difficult to find web links as it was initiated by the KC in 1958. It is mentioned on this web page http://www.thelabradorretrieverclub.com/Articles/Coode-Ch&ShChampions.htm
- The following is a quote from the book 'British Gordon Setter Champions 1978-93' by Bert & Mary Dyde, page 12
- 'In 1958, after much discussion and argument, the Kennel Club initiated the title of Show Champion, the requirement being the winning of three Challenge Certificates under three different judges. Prior to that, no matter how many Challenge Certificates a dog may have amassed, no title was given until that dog had passed the 'qualifier', and then the magic title of Champion was awarded. On 11th November 1958, the General Committee of the Kennel Club ruled that the amendment could be applied retrospectively so that any triple Challenge certificate winner since 19th December 1900, when the Challenge certificate was introduced, was entitled to be described as a Show Champion.'
- Sorry, I don't really know how to make changes properly myself!

WikiCup 2012 January newsletter
WikiCup 2012 is off to a flying start. At the time of writing, we have 112 contestants; comparable to last year, but slightly fewer than 2010. Signups will remain open for another week, after which time they will be closed for this year. Our currrent far-away leader is Grapple X (submissions), due mostly to his work on a slew of good articles about The X-Files; there remain many such articles waiting to be reviewed at good article candidates. Second place is currently held by Ruby2010 (submissions), whose points come mostly from good articles about television episodes, although good article reviews, did you knows and an article about a baroness round out the score. In third place is Jivesh boodhun (submissions), who has scored 200 points for his work on a single featured article, as well as points for work on others, mostly in the area of pop music. In all, nine users have 100 or more points. However, at the other end of the scale, there are still dozens of participants who are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly!
The 64 highest scoring participants will advance to round 2 in a month's time. There, they will be split into eight random groups of eight. The score needed to reach the next round is not at all clear; last year, 8 points guaranteed a place. The year before, 20.
A few participants and their work warrant a mention for achieving "firsts" in this competition.
- 12george1 (submissions) was the first to score, with his good article review of Illinois v. McArthur.
- 12george1 (submissions) was also the first to score points for an article, thanks to his work on Hurricane Debby (1982)- now a good article. Tropical storms have featured heavily in the Cup, and good articles currently have a relatively fast turnaround time for reviews.
- Sp33dyphil (submissions) was the first to score points for a did you know, with Russian submarine K-114 Tula. Military history is another subject which has seen a lot of Cup activity.
- Sp33dyphil (submissions) is also the first person to successfully claim bonus points. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is now a good article, and was eligible for bonus points because the subject was covered on more than 20 other Wikipedias at the start of the competition. It is fantastic to see bonus points being claimed so early!
- Speciate (submissions) was the first to score points for an In the News entry, with Paedophryne amauensis. The lead image from the article was also used on the main page for a time, and it's certainly eye-catching!
- Jivesh boodhun (submissions) was the first to score points for a featured article, and is, at the moment, the only competitor to claim for one. The article, "Halo" (Beyoncé Knowles song), was also worth double points because of its wide coverage. While this is an article that Jivesh and others have worked on for some time, it is undeniable that he has put considerable work into it this year, pushing it over the edge.
We are yet to see any featured lists, featured topics or good topics, but this is unsurprising; firstly, the nomination processes with each of these can take some time, and, secondly, it can take a considerable amount of time to work content to this level. In a similar vein, we have seen only one featured article. The requirement that content must have been worked on this year to be eligible means that we did not expect to see these at the start of the competition. No points have been claimed for featured portals or pictures, but these are not content types which are often claimed; the former has never made a big impact on the WikiCup, while the latter has not done so since 2009's competition.
A quick rules clarification before the regular notices: If you are concerned that another user is claiming points inappropriately, please contact a judge to take a look at the article. Competitors policing one another can create a bad atmosphere, and may lead to inconsistencies and mistakes. Rest assured that we, the judges, are making an effort to check submissions, but it is possible that we will miss something. On a loosely related note: If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. QPR and the Amateur Cup
Hi there
I had a look in the book and couldn't find QPR mentioned at all in any season - possibly this may be because they got knocked out in the qualifying rounds. Despite what the book's called, it only actually features results for the rounds proper. I know there's another, more recent, book out with a similar title which by all accounts does include the qualifying rounds, maybe that's the one you need to look out for......?
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 18:07, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
Main page appearance
Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this list know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on February 13, 2012. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/February 13, 2012. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! The title of Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club has been awarded 104 times since 1907. If a dog wins the title on five occasions, the James Mortimer Memorial Silver Trophy is awarded permanently; otherwise, the winner receives a silver-plated replica. The most successful dog was the first to win the title, a Smooth Fox Terrier named Ch. Warren Remedy, who won it on three occasions. The Terrier Group has continued to be the most successful breed group, with terriers winning the title 45 times. Competition at Westminster was restricted to Champions only in 1992; before this, two dogs had won the title in their first American shows. The most recent winner is GCH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind in 2011, the first Scottish Deerhound to take the title and only the fifth member of the Hound Group.

QPR seasons
Hello. Sorry to see you withdraw QPR seasons from FLC, but I do respect your commitment to getting it right. Don't know if you're aware of the London League section on nonleaguematters.net. Says QPR were founder members in 1896/7, dropped out mid-the following season, and then returned to a newly formed Premier League for first teams from 1901 to 1904.
And in case you haven't got the Amateur Cup result for 1896/97... They lost to Wandsworth in the 4th qualifying round after a replay: the first ref below is for the original match and confirms it was QR4, second ref gives detail of replay (goalless after normal time, 2–0 after extra time) but doesn't mention what round it was
- "The Amateur Cup. Qualifying Competition. Fourth Round". Lloyd's Weekly Newspaper. London. 13 December 1896. p. 20.
- "The English Amateur Cup". The Yorkshire Herald. 21 December 1896. p. 8.
Can't find any evidence of them entering the Amateur Cup after that season.
Hope this helps, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:36, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
Vandalism?
Re-adding the source link for the temperament info I posted on the Cockapoo wiki is vandalism? Yet the info stays...I don't get it. I am new here, trying to learn and contribute, but surely this is not vandalism. I believe it may be edit-warring, as I don't see why the cockapoocrazy.com link is different than all the other external links that are already unopposed in the same wiki page, but am unsure why it would be considered vandalism. I wanted to get involved here, and am well-versed in several knowledge areas including hybrid dogs, but it seems there is a lot of opposition to linking to external sources, which I thought was meant to be done when adding info. Anyways, the vandalism wiki page says: "Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism. Edit warring over content is not vandalism. Careful consideration may be required to differentiate between edits that are beneficial, detrimental but well-intentioned, and vandalizing. Mislabelling good-faith edits as vandalism can be considered harmful." I thought it stayed within the good-faith edit lines, as it is relevant info, and I retrieved it from that source, which is my go-to source for info on that dog breed. Why is it vandalism? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psychocy (talk • contribs) 21:24, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 February newsletter
Round 1 is already over! The 64 highest scorers have progressed to round 2. Our highest scorer was Grapple X (submissions), again thanks mostly to a swathe of good articles on The X-Files. In second place was Tigerboy1966 (submissions), thanks an impressive list of did you knows about racehorses. Both scored over 400 points. Following behind with over 300 points were Ruby2010 (submissions), Cwmhiraeth (submissions), Miyagawa (submissions) and Casliber (submissions). February also saw the competition's first featured list: List of colleges and universities in North Dakota, from Ruby2010 (submissions). At the other end of the scale, 11 points was enough to secure a place in this round, and some contestants with 10 points made it into the round on a tiebreaker. This is higher than the 8 points that were needed last year, but lower than the 20 points required the year before. The number of points required to progress to round 3 will be significantly higher.
The remaining contestants have been split into 8 pools of 8, named A through H. Round two will finish in two months time on 28 April, when the two highest scorers in each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers, will progress to round 3. The pools were entirely random, so while some pools may end up being more competitive than others, this is by chance rather than design.
The judges would like to point out two quick rules reminders. First, any content promoted during the interim period (that is, on or after 27 February) is eligible for points in round 2. Second, any content worked on significantly this year is eligible for points if promoted in this round. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which would otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. After you had moved this to a prep area, and then helped it be withdrawn back to the nominations page to get an image, and then have it wait for the better part of a week to be selected again, it seems a shame that it's the second item in Prep 3—the next set in line to be put in a queue—and not going to end up in the top spot of a set. Any chance of you pulling it to be the top spot in a different prep area, or did we all spend a lot of time to no purpose? BlueMoonset (talk) 00:16, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

I did bring it up at the DYK talk page, but the response there was that there are more pictures than there are top slots, and then it was queued soon afterward on the front page. I have added myself, but if you feel it is innapropriate, then feel free to remove me. Once again, many thanks, and RIP Gemma! :'( MayhemMario 21:55, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I must have sounded rather rude. I did some copy editing to McCluskies article, so its looks good now. MayhemMario 16:22, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Old Family Red Nose
Greetings! I just came across a dog stub that caught my eye and was wondering if you'd like to help me to improve it. You always have great resources, so I thought I'd share it with you! It's the Old Family Red Nose article. This group of dogs appears to be quite significant in shaping the American Pit Bull breed. Feel free to take a gander, I'm going to be looking for sources over the next few days myself :) cReep talk 04:30, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Critters who help ;-)
I see you are involved with WP:DOGS, and interested in article improvement, so you might be interested in some significant editing and discussion at Talk:Animal-assisted therapy. Essentially, there are about three POV-pushers there claiming that AAT is useless pseudoscience, (they also claim Acupuncture is pseudoscience) and on the other side, to be fair, the article itself is pretty weak, had some too-flowery POV in favor and it DOES need much improvement and citation to peer-reviewed works. But substituting one POV for another is not the solution I favor a fair and balanced treatment of AAT but don't have the time or energy to take this on, so am alerting those who might be interested to pop over and comment. Norfolk
The images are part of the commons "This media file is in the public domain in the United States" which makes the images a mute point. The content does not reference wikipedia and the article as a whole is considerably more detailed and provides a great deal more information than the wiki blurb.
The source list for the article is as follows (none of which are the wiki, and no the article is not based off the wiki as you so boldly asserted).

Sausage rolls
I saw this edit and it immediately made me feel terribly nostalgic. I used to visit Greggs once a week when they used to do five sausage rolls for a quid. Now I only get to have decent sausage rolls on those few occasions I get back to Blighty to visit family. -- Scjessey (talk) 21:27, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 March newsletter
We are over half way through the second round of this year's WikiCup and things are going well! Grapple X (submissions), of Pool B, is our highest overall scorer thanks to his prolific writings on television and film. In second place is Pool H's Cwmhiraeth (submissions), thanks primarily to work on biological articles, especially in marine biology and herpetology. Third place goes to Pool E's Casliber (submissions), who also writes primarily on biology (including ornithology and botany) and has already submitted two featured articles this round. Of the 63 contestants remaining, 15 (just under a quarter) have over 100 points this round. However, 25 are yet to score. Please remember to update your submission pages promptly. 32 contestants, the top two from each pool and the 16 next-highest scorers, will advance to round 3.
Congratulations to Matthewedwards (submissions), whose impressive File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg became the competition's first featured picture. Also, congratulations to 12george1 (submissions), who claimed good topic points, our first contestant this year to do so, for his work on Wikipedia:Featured topics/1982 Atlantic hurricane season. This leaves featured topics and featured portals as the only sources of points not yet utilised. However, as recent statistics from Miyagawa (submissions) show, no source has yet been utilised this competition to the same extent it has been previously!
It has been observed that the backlogs at good article candidates are building up again. While the points for good article reviews will be remaining constant, any help that can be offered keeping the backlog down would be appreciated. On a related note, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.
