I can see now where it might not have been your intent, but a reader seeing "allegedly killed" could interpret that it was staged. In any event, it's not widely held that the knee was not a major factor in his death. Feel free to discuss at the article talk page if you still disagree. allegedly: adverb, used to convey that something is claimed to be the case or have taken place, although there is no proof. "he was allegedly a leading participant in the coup attempt"

A fluent English reader is unlikely to interpret "allegedly killed" as meaning "staged". Factual accuracy is more important than catering to readers of less fluency. And how widely held a belief is has no bearing on its factual accuracy. Wikipedia is not meant to be a popularity contest. Facts matter. Opinions do not.

Hi Michael R Bax! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at George Floyd that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information.
