I won't revert your removal of the tag, but I obviously disagree. I'm sure citations exist for the statement, but the statement currently remains uncited. --Onorem♠Dil 02:54, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for not causing a revert war or blowing up over my removal of the tag. I'll look for a source. Malinaccier (talk) 03:09, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thanks for weighing in at my RfA. I do have good intentions, but I can see why people wouldn't take my claims at face value, too. As it is, I'll definitely be looking to serve the project in other ways and dropping the admin idea. Hope to be working with editors like you in the future - Mr. IP 《Defender of Open Editing》 15:01, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Many thanks!
Thank you...
...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 21:44, 4 August 2008 (UTC) |

Thanks for the welcome back. No, I didn't see any wildfires, but I did take a lot of pictures, which I hope to upload to the Commons. bibliomaniac15 23:42, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Deleted Page
Just wanted to know why you deleted the The Mercy Dolls wiki. The is a notable Brisbane band, like many of the other notable Brisbane bands with Wikipedia pages. Their film clip one a nationally acclaimed award (Atom Awards), and were also runner-up in another national film clip away (sunscreen music video awards). They've played nationally and well known around Brisbane. Quite a bit of work went into the page, and I'm annoyed to find that its been deleted. The page was in the the scope of WikiProject Australia along with other associated Brisbane & Australian music pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.254.23.129 (talk) 04:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- It was after this AFD: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/The_Mercy_Dolls . The commenters believed it was not notable because of the guideline that determines whether bands are notable. If you disagree, you may start a deletion review discussion. Question
Hey Malinaccier, I just had a question about a picture I tried to put on the Eragon article under the adaptation section. The picture in question is the theatrical poster for the movie Eragon and is already used in the Eragon (film) article, but when I tried to put it onto the Eragon article it was deleated because it had no fair-use rationale and that is fine, but I just wanted to know why I couldn't also add it to the Eragon (film) article. Thanks, Mlsguy0037 (talk) 18:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Wow! Thanks for the quick response! Yes, that cleared up everything for me. Thank you! Mlsguy0037 (talk) 01:55, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Hey Malinaccier, I'm sorry to be a bother, but I was just wondering if you could check these two images i just uploaded to the Mercury Marine article to see if they are ok. Thanks, Mlsguy0037 (talk) 19:36, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Answer
To answer your question; yes, I'd be honored to have you come on board. MBisanz talk 03:03, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Around the World
The locations are done (but need fact checking), and some regions could be added. But that can be done later - I'm burnt out on these.
The 3 things that need to be done before the competition can start are:
- The images for the awards - looks like I may need to recruit some more graphics artists
- The countries moved to article space need to be completed - see User talk:Mifter#What's next?
- The rest of the pages in the set - need their regions and government branches sections completed (there's incorrect temporary data in those sections on many of the pages)
We could sure use your help on the administrative divisions sections.
For speed on this task, split it up:
- Do the little hierarchical list of administrative districts first (for all of the countries).
- Then fix the subheadings for the administrative divisions section for all the countries.
- Then add the maps and lists of administrative districts (easier to do these two in the same step).
For even more speed, install Firefox and Linky. Then use linky to load country lists into tabs. You cycle through them using Ctrl-W (which deletes the current tab and instantly views the next one), and you jump between them using Ctrl-Tab and Shift-Ctrl-Tab.
I look forward to your reply.

RFA
Malinaccier, first, let me say that you are certainly welcome to express your opinion regarding my RfA, however, I am a little confused. I made a simple typo (and changed it) before you posted opposition based on that. I would never seek WP:ANI to reduce my own stress, but to deal with specific disruptive issues (stressful or otherwise) required admin intervention. — BQZip01 — talk 16:15, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey Malinaccier,
My previous two RfA attempts have been unsuccessful (Number one and number two) and I've been considering taking up some admin coaching to help become a better administrator when I do eventually become one, and to help address concerns raised at those RfAs. I've seen your method of coaching (here) and I was curious as to whether you had space for another candidate? No worries if you don't, just thought it was worth a shot :) Many thanks and happy editing —CyclonenimT@lk? 20:41, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

GA collaberation
I would like to collaborate on Big Stick Ideology (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) to bring it up to good article status! To get the article to good article status, I believe that "I've done a decent amount of work on it, but it still lacks some important bits of information, and certainly could use a good copy edit." Thanks, Leonard(Bloom) 17:37, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- That sounds good, and I hope this article can go somewhere; I've put quite some time into research and notes. Thanks for helping out! I can't express my gratitude. Leonard(Bloom) 20:44, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- Mhmm. I need to get to the library, and find something on Panama Canal and its formation before I feel comfortable starting that section. Right now though, I'm doing research on Panama's connection to the issue. Leonard(Bloom) 21:32, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- First off, I wanted to give you an extremely large thank you for what you've already done for the article; I was working on the Panama Canal section, so I didn't really see it (until now). Second: I've got a draft for the Panama Canal section almost done, and I've also got a couple books in mind for more in-depth research. Right now, I've used Google and a couple US History anthologies to help me, but I've got a couple of more specialized books waiting for me to pick them up. I'm actually leaving for a friends for the night now, so their might not be much from me until tomorrow. Again, thanks for the help, I appreciate it very much. Bye! Leonard(Bloom) 22:45, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- That's wonderful news, and I'll do that right away. Thanks for your help; it means a lot. Leonard(Bloom) 00:40, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Anytime. It seems I've uncovered a valuable resource. :P Leonard(Bloom) 00:44, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- After reviewing the article against the GA Criteria, it is now nominated for GA Review. Woo! Leonard(Bloom) 01:20, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
User:Realist2 has already agreeded to review it tomorrow! Leonard(Bloom) 01:32, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

There is only one section left (including its subsections) that needs to be completed before the pages are ready for Around the World:
- Branches of the government of x
- Executive branch of the government of x
- Legislative branch of the government of x
- Judicial branch of the government of x
There are a few more things that need to be completed before the lists can be moved into the main namespace:
- Fill in the blanks, and blank [[]]'s
- Population:
- Size:
- "(specific elections)" needs to be replaced by links to specific elections (by year, usually)
- International organization membership
- Commander-in-chief: [[]]
- Economic rank:
- Currency of x:
- Blue-linking (creating redirects for) standardized items for which the articles' names are not standardized:
- Fix other temporary links
- World Heritage sites in x (they all point to the same place, and need to be fixed)
- "Capital of x" needs to be replaced with the actual capital name
- Material in the lead paragraph(s) that is covered in the body of the list needs to be removed, or moved from the lead to the relevant items in the list.
- Fill in the External Links section
Moving these lists into the main namespace could have a huge impact on their development, because then each list will fall under the scope of the WikiProjects of the respective countries. That's a lot of WikiProjects that may become involved with refining and maintaining these lists.
The move will be accompanied with the placing of new sections on each of the WikiProject pages, their talk pages, placing banners on the talk pages of each list, and including links to these lists in hatnotes on the relevant articles and portals, and placing section links in the see also sections of relevant articles (Geography of x, Military of x, etc.). Lots of AWB work.

Hey
Perhaps I should apologize to you for going for RFA without consulting you or asking you for a nomination. Now that I think about it I realize that it was rather inconsiderate of me to do so. So, sorry. — scetoaux (T|C) 01:53, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- With coaching, like a lot of things, I think there comes a point when you've done pretty much all you should. And I think you have done a pretty good job (it's not your fault I'm not passing :) ). I still believe that for now it's best for me to freelance, as you put it, and learn what I can on my own and improve. I certainly wouldn't mind if you were to do that mini editor review once in a while, i.e. look through my contribs and see how I'm doing. — scetoaux (T|C) 01:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
User:Agricolae
Hi Malniccier, i have been having a problem with this user lately (User:Agricolae), and he has broken the 3RR in the Umar ibn Hafsun article. This guy actually has a grudge against me and has been reverting my edit just for spite, with the sole intent to aggravate me. Just check the history page. Anyway, since he has broken the 3 revert rule within a span of 24 hours, he is liable to be blocked for over the same period. Am i right? Please do the needful. Thanks. Joyson Noel (talk) 17:15, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- It is curious to see how one's actions can be construed by others. I first tried to interact with this poster on the discussion page to avoid a revert war that seemed to be brewing, and that proved rather unproductive (trainwreck seems the accurate characterization - see Talk:Umar ibn Hafsun). I see little reason to subject myself to more abuse with so little to gain. Anyhow, I see that I lost count of my reverts. While as you have noted, each of mine was in response to one done by the other in a similar time frame, I accept that 'he did it first' does not justify my violation of the policy, and I will voluntarily refrain from editing the article in question for the prescribed period from my last post. Likewise, I will pay more attention in the future. Agricolae (talk) 00:47, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- If he is as curious as he pretends to be, then let him read his own messages in the article's talk page. I suggest that you do, as well (i.e, if you have the time). What he is falsely disguising as "abuse" were nothing more than well justified accusations that i made towards him, and only in my last message. Of course, being the self-righteous deceptive individual that he is, he will wholeheardedly deny this. Let him! Just read the talk page and you will see who was responsible for the discussion going haywire, as well as a lot of other things. Checking the history page would also reveal a lot, regarding this person's obvious grudge against me, which was due to the fact that he was unable to give me a straightforward reply on the talk page. Instead, he chose to cancel the discussion and do his own thing.
- I too lost count of my reverts. I had incorrectly assumed that i had made 3 reverts within a span of 24 hours. The mistake was made by me because i was a bit hasty in checking the history page. It was only after i sent the message, that i actually realized my mistake. I had no intention of violating 3RR. If i did, then why would i message you? Agricolae, on the other hand, was spitefully reverting my edits with the sole intention of aggravating me. It was just a small piece of info. For example, "With Bobastro's fall, ibn Hafsun's remains were exhumed and he was posthumously crucified outside Cordoba's Mezquita de Córdoba."
- To which i added, "which was the second largest mosque in the Muslim world at that time." He just keeps reverting it, at times stating that it is irrevelant to the individual, to which i agree. However, this fact about the mosque must be mentioned in the article, especially since it has been a Roman Catholic Cathedral since 1236. Its not like i copy-pasted an entire para. He just doesn't give a damn and is reverting my edit solely because it was done by me.
- Anyway, i will also refrain from editing the article for the prescribed period from my last post. Sorry for the long rant and thank you for your time. Joyson Noel (talk) 05:26, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Malinaccier, I don't suppose you could ban us both from the Talk page too, while you're at it, could you? Agricolae (talk) 07:30, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- I know you really don't need this on your plate, but your messages to both myself and the other were quite clear: "Further reverts involving the statement (unless agreed upon) will result in a block for both yourself and Agricolae", and "Instead I want each of you to discuss the edit on the article's talk page, and perhaps seek a third opinion. Further reverts pertaining to the statement will result in a block." In response to your recommendation that the issue be discussed on Talk:Umar ibn Hafsun, entries were made which the contributor admitted were solely intended to "let people know what i think of them" (i.e. what he thinks of me). These entries used phrases such as "i did not accuse you of anything that you did not deserve a hundred times over. I accused you of being a liar, distorting my actual points, lacking proper understanding . . . , etc, which were well justified. Considering the great number of things that i would have called you, had we met face to face, i really think that you got away with it", and "This obviously hurt your ego and out of aggravation, you decided to cancel the discussion", and "Your still egotistical to a fault", and "coupled with your arrogance and cocky attitude", and "(Ending message with the proverbial finger)". Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think this is what you had in mind when you directed us to try discussing the issue. It all seems rather lacking in civility, and it certainly dampened my enthusiasm for again trying to reach consensus there. Now, in spite of the stated consequences of not reaching consensus first, the disputed phrasing of the article has been unilaterally reverted by the other. It is so ridiculous to need to invoke
disciplinaryadministrator action or even mediation on something so trivial, but that is what it has come to. Agricolae (talk) 18:46, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think i made it clear that i didn't write the message to discuss about the sentence, rather to discuss our problem with each other. I felt the need to discuss it especially because you have a big grudge against me. I admit that i must have been harsh at that time, but i'm sorry to say that there was no nice way of saying that. Also, i did not revert the edit, but merely added back the sentence "which was the second largest mosque in the Islamic world at the time" to the sentence which stated "which was then a mosque".
- The message after that was solely about the discussion about the sentence. Although i did advise you to lay off the sarcasm. You did not bother to reply back as to why the sentence should not be placed. After 2 days in waiting for your response, i decided to add back the sentence, especially since it confirmed that the sole reason as to your reversion of my edit was not due to any irrelevancy, but rather due to the fact that it was done by me. It also strengthened my conviction that you were not in the least interested in reaching a consensus with me. You claim that my so-called "abuse" dampened your enthusiasm for reaching a consensus, well, was writing a proper response as to why it must not be included too much for you.
- Moreover, i suggest that Malniccier read the message himself. You have taken great consideration in quoting sentences which would make it look like i was abusing you, while i was simply laying well justified accusations towards you. I have a feeling that you must be having a misunderstanding about the proverbial finger. The proverbial finger is not the middle finger as you might suppose it to be. On the other hand, it refers to the second finger which is usually delivered as a warning sign. Joyson Noel (talk) 04:46, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
